  1. Is this what you are saying won't end well???......This new business aligns functional areas to deliver holistic customer solutions and optimizes operations to improve alignment with potential partners . Perhaps you are right. Unfortunately in the age of "Hackett speak" you just can't escape buzzwords. I'm hopeful it refers to alignments with perhaps those who provide further integration with maybe load sharing, dispatch centralization , stuff like that. One thing that will show promise is the fact that two regional guys for commercial truck, one North America, one Europe will be reporting to the same guy. Maybe we will see some further reliance on Ford Otosan who for quite a while now has been referred to as "Fords heavy truck design center" or some similar description. So far seems like we have never seen evidence of that in the US..Maybe that will change for the better. One frequent poster here who is a Ford annuitant has frequently said an assignment to commercial trucks is the kiss of death as far a career path is concerned. The fact that commercial vehicles is featured in this announcement says that perhaps that is not the case for sure.
  2. Hah-who needs a trailer-I figured 4 x 20 so much for my eyes What is your legal GVW
  3. Let me guess..20yd water level?
  4. All valid points-but I would make the cut line the Bear Mtn. Bridge😎
  5. Perhaps VW had a hand in the Texas Plant decision?
  6. KSC, So what was the driver behind their plan for a new plant. Their sales are way down from what they were. All their other facilities were at max utilization? I can't believe the GM JV for class 4-6 is that significant. And they had to have plenty of capacity at Escobedo with Blue diamond gone. ??? Or will the "new" Nafta force some volume from Mexico back to US?
  7. Thx-always thought they were "Harbor Freight" gimmics. I've got one strap-for lifting.
  8. Well I guess I'm the dummy then- learn something new every day. If I saw my kids doing it when they were like 14 I would have been barking at them.😎
  9. Which was absolute political bullshit. He took liberty with the fact that basically all immigrants in the first part of the 20th century were classified as "without papers".
  10. Hah- look at the beginning. the guy would have about 6' of slack in the tow rope and then he would accelerate. Unreal. Must be it was not his truck or his strap😆 But they get an "A" for effort.
  11. Well I wonder what brand of straps they were using. I guess that is one way to get a load moving. Also good testimony to the durability of the hitch on that Dodge pickup🤦‍♂️
  12. Well Swishy maybe two then is all it took as I was guessing- one for bowl height and the second controlled the apron and the ejector plate. Pull on cable and apron raises to start loading. At a certain point once apron reaches a given height the ejector starts moving forward. At max ht of apron the ejector plate would be all the way up/forward.
  13. Careful TS-you could be called as a witness!
  14. Anyone have a clue how those cable dozers were set up to control a cable scraper? I would think they had to have three separate drums- one to control height/cut depth of the bowl, one to raise/lower the apron, and one to control the ejector plate. Or was the apron/ejector on same drum? That is, raise apron minimal height to load, keep raising and at a certain point the ejector starts moving forward to dump?????
  15. good move IMO
  16. No..that does matter! To you and probably the rest of us who have a similar memory😎
  17. Nice -seems like it is directed at a truly larger audience than what I think of as Ford Otosan's primary market.
  18. All of the R D Clarke tractors will be in a Taylor & Martin auction in a few weeks. Another small carrier shutting down.
  19. Well scary thought--he has already said to Harris..."I'm coming for you Kid". For sure it will be a woman and he gets double points for a minority.
  20. Nice job but wouldn't a big 4 axle hydraulic crane be a better choice for a job like that??? looking at the angle of that cable, they sure did have a lot of resistance going up the slope. I recognize the capability in terms of pounds drops off big time as the radius is increased but still I would think a big stick hydraulic crane would have an edge. No clue-just asking.
  21. No doubt dozer was an IH. My question though was the tire arrangement...Never saw that combo before. In any case a beauty
  22. Beauty Now that could not be factory original...or could it? Looks like late model TD-14 on trailer- just before they went to yellow and the14 became a15?
  23. I second that. Its a world economy. The way I look at it, I prefer.."Made in USA" ..not just "designed in USA" but have no problem with goods made in EU or even Japan or to a lesser degree Taiwan. But China? They do steal our designs and there is no doubt that they are ruthless in their implementation of their plan to be dominant in everything. I have never set foot in a Harbor Freight. Hopefully all the attention Covid-19 is getting and the fact that the American drug industry has gone for the quick buck in outsourcing to China will bring about some changes. And as for the phony "Greens" in this country, they can smugly smile that our noble environmental standards have killed much of our "dirty" industry-like foundaries- its ok for China and India to crank out the goods that were made here. One thing I think Trump is on to.
  24. Well anything is better than that red crap-but again different strokes for different folks. Local yard has their piles ready to go. I'll pay attention now that you mention it to see what pile shrinks the most. When I need any (for my kids-not me) I go to the source...tell operator.."no teeth or finger nails please"...Hmnn were tub grinders that common when Jimmy H disappeared?😎
