  1. Wow- that is a beauty. Was it "i'd" as "dozer transport" when you got it.? I imagine it had low miles? Powertrain?
  2. ATCA will revisit the status of Macungie on April 30.
  3. Who promptly cashed it๐Ÿ˜Ž
  4. What does the St Louis dealer that sold all those Fords sell now? ๐Ÿ˜ŽIf it was one dealer he did a good job back "in the day"
  5. Any shots of the Ford hauler?
  6. I can't believe that the family could be so dumb-not sure that is the right word, maybe "clueless"?-to pin this on Hackett. I myself always thought he was the wrong guy for the job based on his prior experience, but what do I know. He convinced Bill Ford he was a genius. In any case with the economy basically shutting down to stop the spread of this thing what else can a company like Ford do? Keep cranking out vehicles that no one is buying? Those dollars that would have gone out will be needed to keep the product line updated. I guess the family members-most I'm sure have never worked a day in a Ford facility- will just have to switch to jug wine๐Ÿ˜Ž
  7. Speaking of mags, for you old guys how about Diesel Equipment Superintendent? That was a great one. Every month they featured a fleet guy who was on the cover. Plenty of good articles and they also had a monthly on "Who is Buying What". They would list by manufacturer sales to specific fleets with brief listing of models purchased. Commercial Car Journal, Fleet Owner and Modern Bulk Transporter were also good reads. First introduced to these as a kid I would rummage through the "library" at one of my uncles truck repair shops. (library of course was the shithouse)
  8. Well no worries about a blow out right?
  9. EJ-the question is who is making tube type tires?
  10. "24".... not 24.5. Must be a misprint. If not I would like to know who is supplying them.
  11. And I would imagine that "back in the day" , they were being loaded by cable shovels or backhoes. Add the stress of watching that bucket swing toward you-then again back then, operators were "operators"๐Ÿ˜Ž
  12. 12R-24 rear tires???
  13. HG- THX! I did not look at this first time around. This guy really nails it. Also makes me think about the wisdom of shutting schools down for a month. Not a big issue if the household has a stay at home parent. But in this day and age those households are probably in the minority. Key point he raises is these young kids are least impacted so if I heard him right there is less of a case for doing this.
  14. Take a look at what I posted the other day. Now if the stats in that article were false, end of story. If they are true, you can't argue with the math. My first thought was also.."bullshit". I'm afraid though the numbers that are being affected, are overwhelming the medical professions ability to treat. If we had a limitless supply of respirators, would not be as big an issue. But we don't. When this news first broke, I believe we were limiting flights TO China! WTF! We should have immediately banned all flights FROM China. China stonewalled this whole thing from the beginning. And now we find out we are dependent on China for a high percentage of our drugs! Let's see what we do about that now. "Well the left leaning Boston Globe had a big article yesterday covering all aspects of corona. In that article was a comparison of covid-19 vs the flu. As of March 11 there were 1039 confirmed cases in the US and 29 confirmed deaths . This was compared to an estimated 45 million cases of "flu" annually in US with "Up to 61,000" related deaths. So if you do an equation and using annual stats and the current 1039 number, we should have 1.4 deaths out of the 1039-not 29. They also had world wide stats and they say there are 121,000 confirmed cases and 4368 deaths. Doing the same math, they said there were 1 billion estimated "flu" cases annually worldwide, leading to 646,000 deaths. Doing the same math that says there should currently be 78 deaths world wide vs the 4368. As to the issue of secrecy, if idiots are out stocking up on toilet paper, just think of the panic that could set in if some facts are clearly understood. Our schools in my small town are closed today. With no reported cases that I know of. Is it the SAME as the flu? I don't think so. Is it the end of the world? Maybe for some who are elderly (ME!) and not in good health to begin with." By the way- update here in Mass. Our gov announced about 3 hrs ago. All restaurants closed except for take out meals, no gatherings greater than 25 people-means no movies- schools closed until April 7th (I may be wrong on that date-but it is an April date. Only retail open- drug stores and food. If this is no worse than the "flu", a huge number of businesses will be at risk of failing on a "whim".
  15. And the replacement is.....???
  16. Well Kevin I'll say it IS good looking-in particular the axle forward configuration. Just again a continuation of the decline of American builders though and it will be a matter of time before we will be left with one American class 8 builder not controlled by Europeans.
  17. Honest man! But I would say not outrageous. I was on I-91 in Conn the other day and saw a Pete triaxle that had one that was curved downward to the windshield divider-my guess- 8" from the hood.

  19. Very good Rich-but you forgot the drop down visor for the ultimate cool look.๐Ÿ˜Ž
  20. Nice- That looks like "Bahama Beige", a Mobil Oil fleet color!
  21. Agree on the hood. I would think cab issue is a "non option"-that is where the economy of scale comes in. But the hood? Can't see why it has to be as "bulbous"-good word for it- as it is. How about it RR? Are there that many projections under that would preclude using a slimmer hood/fender design? Forget about appearance-just the savings in weight and improved visibility would I think justify a change. Remember when class 1-3 trucks had distinctive drop down fenders? Like 56 Fords and then the 57 came out and the hood was a square that extended out over the front wheels.
  22. Thx Jim- every time you post a shot of some beauty I say to myself..better do less talking and more walking-and not just at Macungie! It is a beauty-as is the B 77!!
  23. Jim- would you have a shot of that LTL-9000 that is parked next to the Big Horn in the back ground??
  24. Look at it this way Rich-better that you spent money on a truck that earns vs the R model๐Ÿ˜Ž
  25. For sure. That is what sucks about this whole electrification craze. Instead of it happening on its own and letting the market work it out, we are forced to subsidize a political agenda.
