  1. Thx Hippy. Can't understand how this is happening in this economy. You look at their equipment on road-looks good-well maintained and current. Scrolled through their web site-very professional. And to me, Chapter 11 is the route taken to catch your breath and reorganize. This sounds like final objective is a complete shutdown. I'm sure we will hear more.
  2. Matt it will be a show stopper for sure. You should feel good about all the progress you have made. Easy for me to say but I do believe its all downhill from now on. Brooklyn 2021 for sure!
  3. "SIghtliner" as in 48" BBC Binder? Ok as long as your boots were polished!
  4. Rich, Nice A Car -what is that "puffed up" frame attached to?
  5. I was surprised tonight that the cameras did NOT zoom in on OAC or whatever her handle is-they got a few of Kamala as well as that bitch from Hawaii. Our only hope is that all 20 on the list will tear themselves apart in next 20 mos.
  6. Well in any case Kamala is a smooth talking B and the press is in love with her already. Liz will be heading back to the reservation.
  7. My bet would be -better-only natural-and for sure they were better looking. But it is only natural-the longer a truck is in production there are always running improvements. smartest thing Daimler ever did. Thjey paid what 300 mil and look what it bought them in market share. Not to say there share would NOT have grown had they not bought it-but bottom line they took a key player out of the game.
  8. Kevin- I think more of Ford's dumb ass marketing -from the same people who said..." f-750 tractors for towing!. Maybe some confusion because I do believe F-450 dualies are still built at KTP while the 450 and 550 chassis are built at OAP. I always said what if they applied today's technology to the old Super duty V-8's 401-477-534. Sounds like they have done that. Do you know of any other gasoline motors with oil cooled pistons???
  9. Correct-as it is in most states I believe- I was replying to the comment that if "tow weight exceeded 35,000 you needed a CDL. I think in this state (MA) if you have an F-550 say and a trailer over 10,000 lbs you need a class A. CDL
  10. Agree - I can't believe they are not doing something with this-in particular the 9L motor. How difficult to certify that for US. Isn't Euro 6 almost the same. Then again I have been told big news coming at the March Work Truck Show. then again, maybe we heard it all today with the 7.3 V-8 announcement. That motor should make the 650 and 750's big sellers. think of the applications that need the power and gvw rating but don't have the annual mileage to justify the diesel premium. Homerun if they price it right-and it is not a complete pig on fuel.
  11. Doesn't that only become an issue if you are hooked up to a trailer over 10,000lbs?
  12. I was always of the impression that the F-700's that were built with the 5.9's and very limited options were actually built at Louisville before they converted the plant to Super Duty pickups. they built a large number that were pool trucks to tide the dealers over until the new 650/750 were built at the Ford Cautitlan Mexico plant in 2000. Then the JV with Navistar took over production at the Navistar plant in Escobedo Mexico. Ford SD cabs on International 4300/4400 chassis. Like I said-my impression- Interesting thing about the Acterra, according to one Hebe Had the grand scheme of SELLING the Sterling dealers a new franchise in a "New" truck line...Acterra. A group of dealers quickly got together with their lawyers and Hebe abandoned that scheme. Perhaps a bullshit story-but not surprising.
  13. Well looks like one of my Senators may have a problem. Breaking news-her application for admission to Texas Bar in 1986 lists her "race" as American Indian. Not 1/1024th, but I guess in her mind close enough. I'll bet she is saying right about now..."well I think I'll crack me a beer"- or maybe three or four!
  14. Well Ford jumped the gun today in announcing the new 7.3 pushrod V-8. A true ground up medium duty gasoline truck engine. Surprised they did not wait until the Work Truck show first week of March. I was told they will have "big news" then-perhaps a cab to go along with the motor?? they will have to have something to counter the GM/International hype at that show.
  15. Kevin, I've watched the video a couple of times and keep picking up bits and pieces. They keep emphasizing- "its a truck engine-for high GVW/GCW. Low end torque to get loads moving. Lot of discussion on exhaust manifold design/construction-look at the length of the pipes! I think the KISS theory is very evident here. Oil cooled pistons etc etc. Also have to be a lot of economies associated with building this vs the ^.8 V-10 with 10 holes, balance shaft etc etc.
  16. Don't remember that one by name. But I do remember another system that made use of cables that IIRC, a heavy brake application would lock up the cables that I think were connected from trailer to end of each frame rail-Light bulb just went on..."Breeze"?????
  17. I can't see how they can take the position they are taking-assuming the patents are in place. Or is the technology that broad that it is a generally accepted alternative to positioning of an injector.?
  18. Jim, thx very much.. I had all kinds of email reminders about this and then forgot to watch. Too bad we didn't get him over to the BigMacks photo shoot-then he would have seen some real antiques!😎
  19. Well look at the Schmidt video that KSC posted if you want to see "complex" And you were right on the Fords in Romania- they are plastic-look like some of the Schmidts in video
  20. Bingo Rich- it was Cincotta. I think I saw the truck at Hudson show.
  21. Kevin have had two V-6's-nice and two 4.6's. the current with a 3V is a bit of PITA to get out.
  22. Well as old as I am I remember when F-250's or Scouts or Early Broncos plowed only household driveways. Unreal what you see F-250/350 SRW doing today. But those pix that KSC posted of those Scanias are unreal. front plows, wings and belly scrapers. Did you also notice-roads were "white" No sand or salt. there was a guy up here that had a new huge MB Unimog with this unbelievable hydraulic plow system-which was made in Italy. I think the Europeans can probaly teach us a few things about snow removal. Haven't seen that Unimog lately-actually only saw it at a show one year. Anyone from Mass reading this, outfit was from Waltham-don't remember their name.
  23. My first thought was it just had a deflector mounted on top. then after your post I took another look-agree-looks like the entire blade is thick plastic of some sort. Be interesting to see what is in back of it where it is attached to the cutting edge. And I agree with your comments on cutting edges. I've had three Deere compact loaders and cheap skate that I am have always used "junkyard" plows to replace my bucket. I just replaced a Meyers that had a poly cutting edge with a Fisher with a nice steel edge. What a difference
  24. I disagree about his head in the clouds. I think it is in a much darker place. The guy's rep is he is a "cerebral thinker". I'm sure there is some truth to what he says but I think he is playing strictly within his comfort zone. Remember that is what Bill Ford hired him for-he was heading up Ford's autonomous vehicle group or whatever they called it. Then apparently he convinced Bill he could do it all. For the sake of the Company and my stock I hope he can-but I think he is a bullshitter who is out of his element and he just goes along with whatever the Sillicon Valley crowd is spewing. Then again if you read what KSC posted about VW's position, sounds like Hackett is not alone. Or the VW guy is drinking the same Sillicon Valley Kool Aid.
  25. I'm with you- stockholder and Ranger owner-04 super cab FX4 Off Road that my youngest son bought new and when they had there first kid decided it was not the best 2nd vehicle-so I bought it from him-at an inflated price of course-. It has been inside and well taken care of. Sticker was over 27g and doing Kelly Blue Book I come up with 8-9 g. Not bad for a 14 yr old truck I think the new Ranger will be a hit. Stopped at a dealer last week that had two-an XLT that looked like it just came off truck and a Lariat in showroom-that was sold and they were about to move it out Forget about the oil filter rumor-bullshit that was later officially dismissed. There is a separate flap on inner fender flap-remove three Phillips heads and flap is off. I checked out the truck that was in showroom-front wheel was slightly turned and it looked like it would be a piece of cake-easier than snaking the filter out of my 4.0 L. Michigan assembly plant going on an OT schedule. From what I've read, partially due to demand plus sounds like they are running at a slow build rate to insure there are no issues with the first trucks-which is good news-get it right!
