Trump and Immigration (Illegal Immigrants in the US)
Red Horse replied to kscarbel2's topic in Odds and Ends
Waiting for the Hollywood crowd to jump all over this. Hollywood and the Soros crowd should become proactive in doing something about improving the conditions of these "refugees" in their own countries. What a practical solution-get them to stay put and clean up their own mess at home. The liberals could fund this-problem solved. The ones that really want to come here for all the right reasons, could then go about doing it in the proper and legal way. -
Bigland takes over as president & CEO of Ram Truck Brand
Red Horse replied to kscarbel's topic in Trucking News
Thx Kevin. I keep reading about some people downsizing their delivery fleets to avoid the CDL issue/driver shortage and it makes class 6 a lot more attractive if in fact this is true. With GM back in 6 as well as International, could be a very competitive market before long. Bill Ford should be talking to Hackett! -

B and DM Dump Trucks
Red Horse replied to j hancock's topic in Antique and Classic Mack Trucks General Discussion
The "B-81" by the way started its life as a B-80 tractor purchased by the city of Worcester MA. -
Well you are on the front line and deal with this BS. The way I look at it, Ford spends too much money employing customer service people who are taught to politely tell the customer to go to hell! Remember the Tacoma frame issue. One of my neighbors had one with 80,000 miles on it-This guy is a PHD and has no interest in vehicles-I don't think he ever washed this thing. He had it in to dealer for some reason and gets a call-he can't have his truck back! Frame gone and they gave him 13,000 for this plain jane beat to shit truck. Can you imagine Ford doing that?

Agree on leaving Mustang alone....Brainstorm! And this will sell for sure ..".The Ford Fit!" although Hackett hasn't used the word in the last week of so-maybe he is working up a new buzzword😎 I do think it is a looker and agree-should be an easy stretch of the Mustang-or is it more like putting Mustang front clip on a Fusion-although I would imagine North/South engine makes that a bit complicated. the good sign is perhaps Hatchett is rethinking his sedan decision

"No your honor, I've never ridden a scooter before- I didn't know I might crash" Yeah a foolish statement but in this day and age I hope all of the liability issues are wrapped up tighter than a crab's ass which as the saying goes is waterproof. Again, "Monkey see, Monkey do". and I guess 10 million rides in a year? Too bad Mr Madra made no comment as to "profitability"

Well sort of. Dealer here in Mass (Ipswich Ford) who probably sells as many class 6 and 7 Fords as any dealer in the state, and in the old Louisville days would usually have an LN-8000 or two in inventory with a 6-8 yd body, air to the rear, pintle hook, everything that a contractor would want in a six wheeler, is starting to do the same with F-750s. The attached picture is of a 750 with a 12 front, 23 rear, 31,000 lb rear suspension and high RBM frame. On paper it would qualify as a class 8 but Ford has a special "Derate" option that lets them put a 33,000 lb GVW plate on the truck, thereby avoiding FET. I had a conversation with one of the principals and one good thing he said is the build quality on these is very good. Trucks come in and basically they check fluids, tire pressures and trucks are good to go.F-750-side (1).htmF-750 Body (1).htm

Well the guy says..."The plant is too small"......and then says.."Its underutilized". And speaking of Ford, I was on their website seeing if I could get length dimensions on an f-150. No such thing but while there I went to the 650/750 link. I have to say they made some improvements. But in typical Ford Commercial Truck organization fashion, in the tractor section is a picture of a very nice 30-35' beverage trailer-side loader, in a blue and white color scheme. And hooked to it? An orange crew cab tractor! Like the one we have seen in the ad for the moving co. Makes you wonder-does anyone with brains look at this stuff before they let it fly? Only Ford would do something stupid like this that fosters the image they don't give a shit about this business. I imagine if someone at F'liner, Hino, Paccar etc let something like this out they would be gone. Web sites are a selling tool-for some companies. In this case? Nothing but negative vibes for Ford. But I will say perhaps they DO read some of our online comments as they made no reference in the tractor section that the trucks were used for "towing".

Impressive-I wonder of those 12,000 techs and 2200 service advisors, how many are independent dealers vs. Iveco employees. KSC-any clue?

No doubt with respect to the fender mounted turn signals-oh and air horns under the front fender. Must be worth at least ,0032 mpg😎. And remember when some guys would tie a silk stocking in front of their horns to keep snow out? No problem with them under the fender in the winter-outa site, outa mind!

Answer no! You have to remember-he is a "cerebral thinker". And he earned his stripes as the guy that turned Steelcase around ( on Fortune "1000", no 625 )-to say nothing of a stint as athletic director at Michigan. And let's not forget the 700 million they are going to spend to save the historic railroad station in Detroit. But you can't blame him completely for that one. I'm sure Bill and Edsel Ford pushed for that for the sake of good ol' Detroit-but you can bet Hackett wouldn't have the balls to rock the boat on that one given fact Bill Ford gave him the job. So you have Ford led by a "cerebral thinker" who earned his stripes saving an office furniture company-in an industry where corporate customers abandon leases everyday leaving their office furniture behind- because I guess its cheaper to buy new than move the old stuff- while GM is led by an engineer who has a long track record with the company-and obviously understands why they went bankrupt. I wonder if Hackett has taken the time to understand why Mulally was so successful?

Yes I was going to comment on that as well. Speaks volumes doesn't it that they know its an issue and some have done something about it. But apparently they don't view it as a problem when headlight switch is on! And agree with everyones comments on the "side" lights. Hidden and smallenough to be useless-in particular in winter when trucks are covered in road grime. The Ford dealer here in Mass who sells the most 650/750's in New England always ordered fender mounted turn signals as an option. Since they came out with the new hood like two years ago I guess that is no longer an option as all their new trucks no longer have them
-
Well along with B Mack's complaint on "bright lights", my bitch is there should be a law that requires that front turn signals should be a certain distance from headlight locations. Since "lolly pop" turn signals have fallen victim to "aerodynamics" and the move to integrate turn signals into the headlight bucket, I think the visibility and effectiveness of turn signals has suffered. Or maybe I'm just getting old👿

Home security cameras anyone have any recommendations?
Red Horse replied to Ezrider's topic in Odds and Ends
Well you can spend a ton of time checking all the stuff out. The thing that caught my eye in the mailing is the simplicity. 450 bucks plus the 15 a mo. for the monitoring station. No cameras but to TJC's point on lack of cameras, I'm not interested in looking at a guy in a hoodie so maybe there can be an ID. I want a siren going off-which this provides-and a call to the cops. My current hard wired system needs a back up battery plus I've got some zones out after I replaced all my windows. Alarm co. wants 650 for new "state of art" hardware and a "deal on annual monitoring-$250. Plus i'm sure they will whack me for 100 bucks an hour to restore window zones that are out. So based on my current old school system that has no cameras, simplisafe makes sense. Again, I don't care about an ID- I want their ass out of my house when that siren goes off. At least that is how I look at it. PD station is 2 miles from my house -
Home security cameras anyone have any recommendations?
Red Horse replied to Ezrider's topic in Odds and Ends
Well I got a mail solicitation from Simplisafe. This is not a camera based system. Just door alarms and motion detectors. Motion detectors that.."can tell difference between family pet and intruder" $15 monthly monitoring fee with no contract. System for "large house" covering 6 doors, two motion detectors. 450 bucks. Anyone have any experience? check out website ..simplisafe.com/go -

Clean for sure. Some faded red paint but that interior-hard to believe this thing is 41 years old!! Any clue on real mileage? -
Of course-why would Hackett want to bring an attractive vehicle here? In particular as he has a position to support-cars are out!-as he holds his hand to his ear waiting for the applause from the press.
