  1. This despicable act was most likely perpetrated by angry staffers who could not stomach the fact that Judge Kavanaugh will be confirmed . Well this should be fairly easy to track down. And I would imagine there must be some policy in place that clearly was violated. End result we SHOULD see some disciplinary action taken.
  2. Thx Kevin. It actually surprises me that the used "new" ones I see in the used truck rags have as high an asking price as I'm seeing-then again you can always "ask". Again what a formula for disaster-a marriage of two firms that both managed to piss off a whole lot of customers over engine issues-then they decide to get together!
  3. Hmnn-no leaves on the trees! this video is how old? Very nice Maintainer service body-no comment on the CAT truck. However old the video is, I guess if you have a dog sitting on your lot that no one wants, you might as well use it yourself?😎
  4. Too bad..that they won't suffer. Only weapon we really have with regimes like this is our economic clout-unless of course we want to pursue a military option and I don't think many want that. Hopefully economic actions will encourage Iran's people to wake up to just what the religious zealots are doing to their country.
  5. Thx KSC for all the info-maybe at some point Ford corporate will wake up to this accomplishment and try to capitalize on this from a PR viewpoint-given the millenials love affair with all things foreign.
  6. Thx Kevin-hope some of that vertical integration shows up here given fact that is primary reason why the 6.7/ torqueshift is the only diesel combo in 650/750. then again the "tariff war" makes a Turkish built power train unlikely at this point. Will be interesting to see if that F-Max ends up in Brazil.
  7. Kevin, I'm assuming your positive view about Ford's commitment is focused on EU, Middle East, Africa- everything but US. And is that commitment 90% Otosan and 10% Dearborn? I've read that Turkey is where all of Ford's heavy truck engineering takes place. As I look at 650/750 I have to think "Heavy" means just that-class 8. Do you see/hear anything that suggests anything that goes on with Otosan trickles back to the US? Or Brazil for that matter. It amazes me that the Turks can put something like this together when you consider that Dearborn can't afford to spend what would have to be chump change to offer an alternative power train to the Power Stroke/ Torqueshift combo. And by the way-video not in English but the "suit" in the slide is speaking against a background with English graphics in background. Or was the picture with the "suit" taken at the show?
  8. Like a Nice Alco RS-1 or a GP-9? Anything but a truck that looks like a jelly bean!
  9. Crazy thought, but think of the money the EU countries are spending dealing with all these people. Many claim they are leaving their countries because they have "no opportunities". The useless UN should start a program to spur development in these countries. The EU would be far better off funding such an effort rather than rescuing them from the Mediterranean, trying to keep them contained, then arguing about who is "not taking their fair share.". And then of course the ongoing cost of public safety, welfare etc. Oh George Soros?? If you get pissed watching the dumbass Progressive Insurance ads, I do believe Soros is a major stockholder
  10. No doubt-hopefully he is now a "greater" at Walmart😎
  11. Paul-thx-I did not see that mph read. I looked at it again and noted he had been consistently at 58/59 as he was gaining on the dump. At instant Volvo is on the brakes KW was at 54. Bottom line KW did NOT hit any wreckage-but my point has been, had he backed off much sooner, the guy in Volvo may have pulled into left lane. And by the way, looking at the video again I would say including the two cars he hit, there were no more than 4 or 5 car lengths total in front of him at moment of impact. And again, "may have pulled into left lane". Big IF- guy in Volvo owns this one big time but going back to my days when I would have to weigh in on "avoidable/unavoidable" big question was always not just was other guy at fault, but also ..."what could you have done to avoid this".
  12. Exactly. Both of them not paying attention. The guy in the left lane backs off seconds before the crash. But very early on you see quick lane changes up ahead.
  13. And he still looks like a kid!
  14. Well as I see it, the guy in the hammer lane (T-600 hood??) was not paying attention. You can clearly see the right lane is bunching up. When I see that, I'm ready for that guy ahead of me to throw his left turn signal on-and if I don't see that I'm even more cautious that .."this jerk doesn't see what is going on". Yes his rate of closure changed but only in the last hundred feet or so when he finally woke up to what was going on. I called my wife over to look at this-not a "truck driver"but over the years I have pointed out various aspects of the Smith System when she was driving-I said..."watch this". Her first comment.."guy in white truck wasn't paying attention either". She then proceeded to give me a speech about distracted driving caused by loud music😉
  15. Hmn.. apparently the guy in the dump truck and the guy in the hammer lane never were exposed to the Smith System? "Keep your eyes moving-get the big picture".
  16. Hah! My thought exactly-in particular with respect to the Ram pick ups. seems like I see far more Rams that are not that old that have signifant rust in particular around wheel wells. Nothing like the old days though. "They don't build them like the used too"...Agree and thank God!
  17. Well no argument about say a class 8 tractor. Class 8 vocational? They do it now with F-750's Not many but they do build 35,000 lb 750's Dealer friend just got an 84" CA in for 6-8 yd dump. 12-23 axles, 31,000lb rear springs and a "derate pkg" that provides a 33,000 lb plate to avoid FET. Again, if they would address the power train, They could be cranking out low cost class 8 vocational tandems that in my opinion would appeal to the operator who can get by with such a truck.
  18. Paul- the one right on Grand Central Parkway-just before you exit right for the terminals.
  19. Agree-in particular if the GM product is competitively priced. Shop I hang out in always has alligator hood Power Stroke and Duramax V-8's in for work. I shake my head at the mess-for lack of a better word- you see under these hoods. Real or not, the idea of a tilt hood has to be a positive.
  20. Well as KSC said, perhaps Bill Ford's commitment is enough I just wish some of this heavy truck enthusiasm would trickle down to the US.
  21. Kevin- I get that-just being a wise ass. Marketing guys trying to create some buzz. And I have to say "Dodge" is making good progress. A lot of 5500's running around these parts. Often times I think they are doing it on price. But I think the memories of Power Stroke 6.0/6.4 still haunts the Blue Oval.
  22. If Ford showed an interest in class 8 trucks in the US, I would think that would help the cause of this effort. Given fact this effort is coming out of Turkey, does the political instability of that country hurt this effort? It maybe good-but is it that good that I would invest in it vs anyone of the other seven players? How about it KSC?
  23. What no green ones? tow hooks? Now that is clever. and I thought only Ford had "brillian"t truck marketers.
  24. As an old LI guy you will recognize this. We had a Gulf Station just before LaGuardia that was undergoing complete rebuild. I'm in the office in Boston and I hear the engineer who is handling the project-and on the phone with the contractor who is at the site- call out.."plane just hit WTC"! My first thought -"hah-some idiot in a Cessna 172 sight seeing". Some things you'll never forget-although too many loons in this country have.
  25. OD-thx for posting-saw Freightrain right away-when I get the issue first stop is the Mack Section.
