    UAW

This paragraph says it all IMO. Now it appears the union, encouraged by defeated Mack worker and unsuccessful UAW International presidential candidate Will Lehman and a Socialist rank-and-file committee, has intertwined the Mack strike with brinkmanship in Detroit. There are 34,000 of 146,000 UAW members striking selected GM, Ford and Stellantis plants while other plants are operating. When union leadership has their own "cause", usually associated with their need for power, the members get screwed.

If you want to read an interesting view of the current strike that effects the "Big Three" and Mack, go on You TUbe.."UAW Strikers Starve While Shawn Fain Gets Rich" This is an Autoline story.
  3. TJC, Educate me......I saved that as a PDF. Why did Bob Have a problem??? I was surprised though when I posted the picture it came out the way it did vs the picture.
  4. Here you go.....B-81. rt front.pdfB-81. rt front.pdf
  5. Your choice or theirs? Broker using anyone who will work for less?
  6. Classic for sure..steel still coming into NH?
  7. Volvo has a huge plant, New River Valley in Va. I think it is also a UAW represented plant but different contract dates. All engines..Mack or Volvo are basically the same now and come for the former Mack plant in Maryland. I would imagine, if Volvo merged Mack into Volvo the biggest savings probably would be administrative and engineering of new models.. Now clue if they could absorb the Mack production at New River. Again hope it never happens but.........
  8. No Bob, as I see it "God Help them". the Mack workers IMO are drinking Fain's Kool-Aid. He could give a shit about Mack, it is all about the the dues payers at the "big three". The Mack UAW leadership negotiated a contract in good faith and they reached an agreement subject to ratification. You can bet that Fain had to sign off on that deal. Then when the member ship votes it down by a big margin-my bet too many see the crazy numbers that are coming out of the big three negotiations, they want the same thing.....and in a situation like this where the membership votes a contract down, the smart union leadership would say.."we did our best but will go back to the table again. Fain throws out the tough guy bullshit-like he didn't have any say in the initial settlement deal. Like I said, he could care less about Mack and what happens to it. IMO they are forgetting what has typically happened in the truck business. Look at history...Mack buys Brockway..Brockway goes on strike..Mack solves that problem. White buys the old Sterling...then says "hey, Sterling competes with our Autocar flag!-bang Sterling is gone. White owns the combined Diamond T and Reo then shuts that down. White is going broke and WhiteGMC is formed- and that is gone. Consolidation is the name of the game. I'm sure there are top level guys in Sweden now who are saying, why do we need this bullshit? Hope it doesn't happen but the old Mack customers who built their business with Mack trucks are old...and guess what... "Built like a Mack" no longer counts.
  9. DC, Thx-He sent me a pix of his pump..tags are different than yours. I double checked mine which was a 237 Factory remain that guys I bought truck from had the good luck to pull from a wreck and it had only 10,000 miles. I tried checking my nos today but I'll have to pull the quarter fender off to see it. My memory says that is where my engine tag is on pump. the drive case has some numbers punched onto it but I thin k they are a part number- I'll have to put some brake cleaner on to get a good read. Unrelated question...anyone know how you determine an engine build date?
  10. Pump by the way is an American Bosch
  11. No other number guys ....Door plate says B-81SX
  12. Buddy just bought a mint 62 B-81SX. Non turbo. What HP would that be?
  13. Nice Rich..when did nyou get binder with aluminum wheels
  14. Your comment is timely Paul. Having a conversation with my youngest and his wife this morning on this subject. Her grandfathers were unique, one US Army, WW II and Korea, and the other flew in the Luftwaffe. He and my daughter in laws dad came to US in 1956. Talk about that family's reunions! Neither of the grandfathers were willing conversationalists when it came their experiences. I also had good friends I worked with who were in Vietnam-including two West Point grads. One got a Purple Heart as a dump truck hit a mine when they were building a road...he got the PH as he had ear damage-he would talk a lot.. The other was a Ranger who saw all kinds of stuff...not so much. A lot of them also were supply types who had steak and beer very often. Before you get into conversations with these guys you should know their feelings on this. Bob
  15. For sure on "nothing amateur"...when you get tired of your "day job" Matt, you should think of going into the restoration business! Where did you get the oak?
  16. For sure, The last of my WW II veteran uncles passed away and I start thinking of all the things I did NOT ask them about
  17. No - Broncos and the B were on pretty solid ground. I was home at like 6:30 and before I put B away had a short cloud burst. But I heard this morning that while I had a quick cloud burst, down on the Fair Grounds-like mile and a half away it rained so hard there was water running down road by pole barns. Lucky that didn't happen when most guys were leaving By the way you and Rick continue to get good press..Boston Trucker has you in video.
  18. Guys I have a 22 F-150, STX with a 5.0. and 3.31 gears. When I bought it I ignored fact it did not have an E locker dif and figured it would not be a problem, Well it is helpless on wet grass! So I bought it to replace my old Ranger which someone wanted for a good price and the 150 was a "placeholder" until I felt the new Rangers had their bugs worked out. Long story short I'm beginning to like that Coyote power so I'm thinking of getting a 23 with same specs other than rear axle. Not many 23 5.0's out there in STX trim and most elockers are 3.31.s There are a few 3.73's as well so while the 3.31 is great when you are on an intersate, It is not the best for pulling my skid steer trailer and 4720 Deere Anyone have any experience with a 5.0 powered 150 with either ratio? I thinking the 3.73 would upshift quicker thereby running more miles with the higher ratio. Any opinions? Bob
  19. Matt...priorities! Unfortunatley at times earning a living wins out😎

  22. This reminds me of a Ford commercial "back in the day. It was a picture of a trailer with all the logos of the big carriers who were running Fords. If my memory serves me right ABF may be the only one in that group still alive.
  23. Hippy..assume he was Overnite founder?
  24. Ancient history is part of the fun IMO..in particular when the truck is not too removed from the original owner(s).
