  1. Rich- sounds like a home run-hard to believe that is a 99. And an owner operator in what I would call light duty-residential roof trusses! Take it easy getting used to it. See too many of these tree guys around here who either don't look at their charts or don't think they need bigger pads on the ground!
  2. Very nice Rich-Not the usual Hertz, United, Sunbelt cast off!
  3. I hear you Kevin on the horns. I assume the install is much cheaper bolting to the bumper plus no worries about roof penetrations leaking. But did I read correctly that Mack was offering an option for a roof mounted lanyard? Horns still behind bumper but driver's ego is saved when a kid gives him the arm pumping motion! Hah-when I was working my way through school I drove a Binder dump truck Truck was registered for 24,000 gross and I used to CARRY 12 ton of asphalt or graded base. Juice brakes so when kids would give me the "horn motion" I would reach up to roof like I was tugging on something while tapping the horn button on steering wheel! Kids beside the road and bigger kid driving the truck! As for the JMC Cargo I would have to believe that body work is a bit more expensive than the Otosan version.
  4. My god they'll never make it! Air horns on the roof! Deduct .00016 MPG! Almost as bad as stand alone turn signals that are clearly visible and don't get lost in the glare of headlights!
  5. Swishy, Thx-it looked to me like same as two front axle hubs but I'm clueless about the driven tags/pushers in EU-thx for education.
  6. Tridem axle? looks like a tag to me???
  7. Matt- outstanding piece of work. Agree on comments on welding up a bracket out of plate but this just adds to your trucks "wow" factor.
  8. Actually I thought that was the primary function of a right hand wing- knock the height of the built up windrow down so in the next storm, the front plow has a place where the snow rolling off the plow can go. And speaking of wings, any opinions out there on wings on 19,500lb trucks like F-550's? I'm told a lot of towns in Northeast are going that route. My town had budgeted almost 120 grand for a new 550 with a wing. I couldn't believe it but it didn't happen in the end-only because the town ordered an F-550 crew cab and when the chassis got to the body outfitter he broke the sad news..."can't put a wing on a 4 door!
  9. Looking good Rich!
  10. Can't imagine how these guys can make the economics work.
  11. Well for sure you can thank the EPA/Clean Air Act for putting the US forging industry out of business. Meantime they run around in India, China etc wearing masks when the inversions get so bad. Hmnn-wonder if any of that crappy air impacts our weather/atmosphere??
  12. Anyone interested in an old White check out latest Wheels of Time as well as Double Clutch That is my pals 1929 Model 61. Complete, unrestored and running-he wants to move it!
  13. YTD-Mack 8.61% of class 8, Volvo 10.27%. And you can bet the average transaction price (ATP-that I'm told is the magic buzz phrase when it comes to profitability) of the Macks is much higher. How much of that 10.27% of the Volvo figure is a rock bottom deal to the Swifts of the world.
  14. Hmnn-McKees Rocks? Is Silky's Gentlemans Club still in business-was never in the place-just remember it
  15. I have to say that Iveco conventional looks as good if not better than a lot of the conventionals we have available here. High vertical windshield for high seating position with good line of site, and it LOOKS like a truck! Only thing it needs is stand alone turn signals so they don't get lost in the glare of the headlights-but what am I thinking-those stand alone turn signals would lead to a loss of .0002 MPG!
  16. So big question remains=-Maxitorque in or out???
  17. Well, I clicked on the website to check it out. As usual typical inattention to detail. For example, they show a picture of a tractor pulling a beverage (bay) trailer. Does the ad copy refer to a " tractor application"? No- its a..." 650 with a beverage body". I don't think anyone reviews this stuff before they go to press-then again if they do.....??????? Its like the Commercial Vehicle Calendar they have published-haven't seen it but I understand there is a Bluediamond 650/750 instead of a new truck!
  18. Nice Bob- and the right setting!
  19. Well IMO-three idiots here- Trump for not involving his key knowledgeable people before he signed his order, and Bill Ford and Mark Fields for jumping on the PC bandwagon with the rest of the Hollywood crowd. As I see it, Trump is so driven by his ego and "campaign platform", he is putting his pen in gear before his brain. Obama previously I believe identified the countries in question as problematic. Trump could have accomplished something had he just cleaned up his XO-in fact did he even need such an order-could not the word just have been passed down through the chain of command to .."tighten up" existing procedures? In any case, a loyal Ford guy here and stockholder who is pissed. I figure pretty boy Fields would do some stunt like this- I thought Bill Ford had more sense. In particular, how many times have they met with Trump already? Pick up the f-ing phone and call him up and say- " I think you screwed up-man up and make a statement as to what your true objective was".
  20. Wheels of Time, May/June 2015
  21. OK Bob-you have everyones attention and now Brockway please!!
  22. _Paul, Check WOT issue within last year. Big article on Coles. A New England institution and you would ever hear a negative word about the company-at least I never did.
  23. Truck is a beauty. Just out of curiosity-what is motivation for this? Yeah-old spokes forever guy
  24. Very good. Highest vol. year was '74 at 25,824. Total built in 12 years was 225,585 for an annual average of 18,798. My point is when you consider last year of production was 40 years ago, I say "rare" is not an unjustified term when you look at used vehicle prices. To say nothing of the fact they were rust buckets and a lot of them for sure were "rode hard and put away wet" the survival prospects were not the best. In any case, I and my two sons are smiling as we each have one. Mine has been sitting ever since I got the "Mack" bug but the wife has been after me to get it back on the road. Who am I to argue
  25. Not rare? right as in as rare as an original 427 Cobra! But to all you early Bronco experts out there-take a guess-what was the number produced in the highest year-66-77?
