  1. My bet is this is a case of "move it" or it falls into ocean. This is common issue on "islands"- Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard. You can't believe some of the money being spent to do this. Hmnn -wonder if O'bummer is going to move his summer house from Vineyard to Nantucket? Kind of hoping he would go back to his "old country"! In anycase, B is a beauty. Talk about confidence- if I was doing that for sure I would have had a dozer in there blading that hump away.
  2. You mean the "bookends"??
  3. Rich- Thx for clearing that up- was away for weekend and didn't have Kenny's cell no. Also never thought of Frank when it came to B Model-never saw it without lettering.
  4. Heavy trucks?? Hmnn-wonder when they will open shop in US?? My guess is they are waiting for all former heavy truck customers in US to have totally forgotten their old loyalties.
  5. Jim-Nice shot. any clue if that was taken in New Hampshire and when? Friend of mine (Ken S) had a single axle Falcon that ended up in OHIO I think
  6. Ford Dealer friend of mine liked the LCF- I believe his gripe was the motor which I believe was a 6.0 PS with two cylinders cut off?? KS-yur comment on using the 3.2 duratorque makes sense but wasn't the LCF built in the Bluediamond plant? and Navistar had their piece of the action as far as the motor goes-not likely they woud have supported losing the engine revenue I would think.
  7. TeamsterGrrrl/KSC Hope you are both correct on the Ranger. as for 650/750, KSC you might be right on it continuing to be the sole vehicle using the old steel SD cab. But think about it?- they are going to truck aluminum cabs to OAP for 350-550 and also truck steel SD cabs for 650/750? doesn't maker a lot of sense to me.
  8. Well obviously CVG has not heard what the Donald plans to do about companies that outsource to Mexico. I wonder when he will be bringing his clothing line back to US from china?
  9. Just out of curiosity...."expense of parts"??? With two trucks in your fleet what were the issues? As the owner of a Taurus SHO I have to say in the back of my mind when I ordered it I thought..."hope I'm not buying issues-two turbos etc". Well 83,000 miles later never been back to dealer. It consistently gives around 25.3 hiway, 22-mixed. Granted, it a 4000 lb+ car not a truck. I think the biggest issue with Ecoboost vehicles is people like to keep their foot in it! I myself? I see the RPM's drop and I use a little less pressure on the pedal-it usually makes the grade without a downshift-nothing like low end torque-its a "237"!
  10. So perhaps it's not that unrealistic to think Volvo could see some financial benefit to spin off the Mack brand (and Hagerstown and Macungie). Then again, with the Mack brand gone, that is close to half of Volvo's US market share. Doesn't seem too attractive from that perspective I would think.
  11. Can't imagine that would happen given dependency on Hagerstown for drivetrain?? Would Like to see it happen but seems like they have done too good a job of integrating Mack power into the mix? KSC-what do you think?
  12. Agree 100% I guess the mindset is "more Chevy dealers vs. GMC. In any case, if its just a matter of a badge and the expense of printing a lot of duplicate literature (from sales brochures to owner manuals) I would think the added dealer coverage would far offset any admin cost. I do know of at least one GMC dealer who WAS a true commercial dealer and he is bullshit in plain English. I can think of at least 4 GMC dealers that were true commercial dealers here in Mass. Can't think of one Chevy dealer who would fit that bill. Your comment on "The Truck people from General Motors" may be changed to..."The Truck People from General Motors-Well Sort of"
  13. Agree-".... I don't see near enough volume to come up with a dedicated cab for the 650/750. But what I'm saying is the movement of 350-450-550 to Ohio gives them enough volume to cover the cost of a new competitive cab. Ford was a powerhouse in class 7 and vocational 8 back in "the day". People dump all day on the "pick up" cab currently being used. Unless they are content to run a plant at reduced capacity, they have to get competitive. If 350-750 end up with a new purpose built cab, Ford will be back to two cab structures-like they were with 150- Super Duty, except both cabs will have been design specifically for the intended use -as opposed to a compromise. And I say this while at the same time saying that the new Chevy/Isuzu COE will rob class 4/5 sales. All the more reason to come up with a truly functional cab-and while you are at it Ford, come up with a 4 or 6 cylinder diesel that is far less costly to build, buy and maintain then a 400+ HP Power Stroke.
  14. For sure. I would bet within a year the Ford and Dodge market shares in class 3-4-5 will each be down by 5-10% Conversely that says within a year, GM will have 10 to 20% of the class. As a Ford stockholder, hope I'm wrong but is I'm a small business man do I want to put some incompetent kid in a 19,500 lb Ram or F-550 long hood with over 400HP??
  15. On the subject of Ford and a new medium duty cab-and with my stockholder hat on, I say class 3-4-5 sales volumes exceed class 6, 7 and 8 combined. In 3-4-5, Ford is currently a strong second to Dodge/Ram but those classes are going to get that much more competitive with GM back in the game with Chevy badged Isuzus about to hit dealer lots and with the GM/Navistar conventional due out in a year or so. With Ford abandoning a separate Super Duty cab for 250 and above, and with the movement of 450-550 chassis cabs going to Ohio from KTP, I say that is strong evidence that we will see a new cab that will serve for sure 4,5,6, 7 and ultimately baby 8
  16. Correct- the steel Super Duty cab was first used on 650/750 with the 2000 model year when they were built in the Ford plant at Cautilan (sp?) Mexico-up until 2004 model year when Bluediamond was formed and production went to JV plant at Navistar Escobedo Mex. The fact that they have moved Super Duty 350-450-550 chassis cabs to Ohio, home of the 650/750 says to me that the rumored purpose built medium duty cab can't be too far off. If not, they are going to ship aluminum cabs to Ohio? and still build steel cabs for 650-750? don't think so!
  17. KS-here you go; 5 mos ytd 2014 5mos ytd 2016 Ford class 6 32.35% 33.99% 7 8.25% 6.44% F'Liner 6 35.8% 29.25% 7 51.0% 50.84% Hino 6 8.62% 10.53% 7 3.09% 3.22% Nav 6 20.61% 23.20% 7 20.02% 21.56% KW 6 2.32% 2.78% 7 7.62% 7.92% Pete 6 0.29% 0.25% 7 10.06% 10.02% Big winner in 6/7 in terms of market share appears to be Navistar with Hino also showing good % gain. Ford doing well in class 6 but taking big hit in class 7 which in my opinion has to be related to failure to offer a 6 cylinder /Allison combo as an alternative to the Power Stroke/Ford Torqueshift./
  18. Some interesting numbers in terms of market share. First no, 2014, Second no. 2016 F'liner 35.3% 41.18% Navistar 15.31% 11.76% KW 13.56% 13.92% Pete 13.22% 13.17% Volvo 12.74% 9.37% Mack 8.08% 8.07% Hmnn-hope the Swedes don't throw out the baby with the bath water!
  19. I guess even under Signal, as Signal was NOT a truck company, there still had to be some respect or consideration for the ability of the true "truck people" to run the company. Once other "truck people" get in the mix, I'm sure the atmosphere changed big time. If you were "heritage Mack", I'm sure there were plenty of people on the "new team" who were determined to prove they had a better way. How about it KSC, I'm sure you see what I'm driving at.
  20. With all the buzz about "One Ford" I can't believe they will not take advantage of at least some of these "sunk" engineering costs-in particular the 9 L engine. They will never get the owner operator market like they tried to do in the old days but for sure they should be able to get a big chunk of the vocational market and in particular class 7 and the lower end of 8. Also if there is still this "anti cab over" mentality (Ford should check with Isuzu, Paccar, Hino about what they see in us market-in particular class 5, 6), perhaps the "new" or should In say rumored replacement cab for current class 5, 6,7 cab will cover a lot of bases. I think the movement of 550 chassis to Avon Lake is a strong signal that something is in the works cab wise. Teamster Grrl-bounce that off your source-in particular the shift of 550 chassis to Ohio.
  21. Agree-but again, is there some sort of restriction that precludes Ford from bringing the FPT based engines to US?? As a practical matter I would think sergio would want as much sales revenue as he can get.
  22. Well interesting point on the interplant shuttle trucks-I would imagine they would "cube out" before they exceed GCW but for sure if they are pulling 102" 53 footers for sure they will get a workout with windload. I have to agree with KSC though that I'm a skeptic when it comes to the Power Stroke/Torqueshift combo in the high end of class 7-never mind 8. And I know they are banking on the warranty as the "hook" as well as the B-10 rating but time will tell. 650 sales are doing very well but my guess is the bulk of those are gas jobs. As for new 750's, none of the dealers in this neck of the woods seem to have any in inventory. In anycase, I agree 100% on the future of intermodal-and you don't need a 15 liter to do that. What I wonder is why are they hesitant to bring one of those 9 or 13 liter engines they are building in Turkey-unless their license with FIAT precludes them from using in US- And speaking of a good intermodal truck, what would be wrong with bringing one of the Cargo variants over- KSC-any thoughts?
  23. So why do you suppose there is never a mention of the F-550 in these ads? OR does F-550 get excluded because they are ony talking about "pickups"?? Once again dumb ass Ford marketing IMO. The F-550 IS going to get the new cab, right? So why exclude the F-550 in all this "horn blowing". Not "chassis DRW??" Meantime Dodge continues to kick butt in class 3-4-5.
  24. What a joke that this was turned down given Dodge's insignificant market shares in class 7 and 8. Forward 34 years to 98 and Daimler steals Ford for 300 mil, and Ford had like around 20% of class 7 and about 9% of class 8. NO PROBLEM! Times sure have changed with respect to anti-trust considerations.
