  3. Again I say.....WHY?? They sold under 2000 trucks in the previous 3 years? Looking at the interior in the "driving impressions" thread of the CT 680 its got the new International instrument panel. KSC-is this a Cat 3406 block or is it a MAN? This truck is still built by International for Cat at Escobedo? But Cat in the future will build it in a former excavstor plant in Texas? Can't see how the economics of this are going to work. The only thing Cat has going for them in the short term is they will strong arm any haulers who move machines for them to "buy Cat". Once you've beat up everyone on the playground, there is no one left to play with.

  9. Aluminum CABS- chassis will be steel as always. And if you look at the 150's and their sales rate looks like that is working. I do believe the 2017's (Super Duty) will be using same cab structure as 150 as in old days-no more separate cabs for 150 and another cab for 250 on up. As interior dimensions are virtually the same, this makes sense. Now the other interesting news is they announced this week 350-550 chassis cab production is moving from Louisville to Avon Lake Ohio where the new 650/750's and last of the E series cut- aways are built. this leads some to believe that in the not to distant future there will be a complete new cab for 350-750. Keep in mind the new 650/750's at this point still use the steel Super Duty Cab structure. In any case, that 550 is a beauty. Will look good in a fleet pix beside your Macks!

  12. First order of business is to pay off the EPA, then bring back 237, DM's and once again Mack will own vocational market. Yeah probably would not hurt to bring back R and U Actually a better thought. Paying off EPA just MIGHT get someone in trouble. Better plan would be same strategy as when you get caught violating an environmental rule-like filling a wet land. You have to replicate or make an improvement someplace else. SOOO- you donate to the Obama Library fund-done deal.
  13. Well actually we were down from prior year in terms of vehicles. And show years ago was not in middle of summer. We had a lot of guys (contractors) who were just too out straight and needed a "day off"- not to say that can't happen in October as well- and while a lot of people bitched about the heat- they might be bitching about the "cold" in October! No- Mackfest is Sept. and Gerharts is early Oct. Plus our feeling is we are a regional show and don't compete. How many of the trucks that you see at our show do you see traveling to PA? Thx-we shall see.

  17. Well b61, I would say you hit the nail on the head-...in particular.."what you grew up with". and when I started this thread I mentioned, no second and third hand info! I think that today between Ford, GM and Dodge/Ram/Mopar/FCA they all build a good product. when it comes to Power Strokes, it always seems to come back to 6.0 horror stories then again buddy of mine had one that he put almost 100,000 on with no trouble-admittedly-easy miles. I've also heard of plenty of guys that had good luck with them in heavy commercial service. Other side of the coin, local good sized towing outfit had nothing but issues-drove him to Hino for his ramp trucks. Actually I should follow up on that as we are talking when 6.0 first came out. My biggest question/concern is just how will the new 6.7 hold up in a medium duty-in particular as you can get one in a 750 with a 37,000 lb GVW. A far cry from what it was (I think) originally designed for. PS-ckeck out KSC's post on new retrofit for 6.0/6.4 turbo upgrade kit. Good news, but how many years did it take them to come up with that??

Well I think beheading is a little strong but I would not mind seeing him jumping out of the back of an E-350 van with flashing yellow lights on the roof and wearing a yellow jump suit preparing to pick up litter along I-95. But I have been thinking about all the attention to global warming while we do NOTHING to strong arm the big polluters like China and India. We shut down our coal and oil burning power plants, cripple our foundry industry (as an example) and then look the other way when it comes to these third world shit holes. And all the nonsense on electrification of cars and trucks- and what generates the juice to charge the batteries?
  19. Is that a Jerr Dan? Went by Jerr Dan dealer in Lancaster MA other day and looked like there was a dark (black or blue) Ford along side building-thought it might be your friends. Local U-haul yard just got a coupe of 650's in.

  22. ATCA New England Chapter is moving our show from August to Oct. 16th. We are gambling that risk of rain/cold beats oppressive heat! check the ATHS and ATCA calendars to avoid conflicts with your dates
  23. And thx for posting the interesting shot-always nice when you have some family history to go along with it. One of the first "big trucks" I drove was a Ford NT-950. 250 Cummins, Rt-910 RR- spokes etc. This was late 60's and for its time it was a comfortable, and quiet-at least for its time. (had the "high roof" so it was 66 or later). Felt sorry though for anyone who had to work on the motor!
