  1. Yes- I did a google search and it gives him a Dearborn address so looks like the effort is directed from US
  2. Thx for the comment. As always informative. Where does John Sidelko hang his hat?
  3. RE your comments on the Paccar cabovers, so how would the Cargo variants stack up against those?
  4. No the article was based on a Ford press release. Now what you are suggesting (use 150 cab for 250-350) makes a ton of sense to me-like the old days) but for some reason even though the interior dimensions between 150 and Super duty are very close, they seem to think they need a unique cab. And if they did use the 150 cab,you asre correct-they still could crank out steel SD cabs for 450-550 assembly at KTP while they ship same cab components to OHAP for 650-750
  5. Just read a USA Today online piece that Ford's Kentucky Truck Plant, home of the Super Duty and built for the Louisville production in1969, would convert 250, 350 production to new aluminum cab in next year or so. NO mention was made of 450, 550. Does this mean they would still build a steel cab 450, 550 at KTP or do you read between the lines and assume 450, 550 moves to the Avon Lake plant (OHAP) where the new 650, 750 will be built starting this year? And does this make the case for an eventual all new medium cab to accomodate 450-750 and the return into "Baby 8's"? How about it KSC, you always have global insights into this stuff?
  6. JH-my "green" version-also 7'- junk yard Fisher. When guys buy a new pick up usually their old ones it seems get "cycled down". I think this is third one I've had. Usually swap the old one for an upgrade for a few bucks! I think though an 8 footer might be next. What do you have for weight? I have loaded 17R-24's plus the concrete block I made is around 550.
  7. Interesting- I wonder how that foots with most OEM manuals? Isn't "15-40 HD for diesel" the API oil of choice?
  8. Well, I'll take the snow. at least I don't have to worry while lying on a creeper under the Mack that a python is going to come slithering into the barn
  9. Here are some shots of my guy (Dennis Day, Sterling MA). He does vehicles, murals etc. Very talented guy. His e-mail address is dayziner@comcast.net

  11. Thx-impressive piece of iron! $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
  12. That is a 90,000 lb machine- I gather this thing has more rubber on the inside? tires look awfully small for that load. Don't imagine that trailer itself is light!
  13. Nice A-Car. takes me back to my youth-watching the town Brockways or the Conn. Ford-950's go by. No 4 WD pick ups out plowing roads in those days!
  14. Nice-have a nice vacation!
  15. Hear you Superdog on the dump issue. He is in tune with that as well.
  16. Again guys thks for the opinions. And believe me, I have asked plenty of hard questions as to the economics. No 1 issue in my mind, as far as moving equipment, that is always something you can hire out. It is an associated cost of being in the civil construction business. But compared to say an excavator, you might have a job where that machine is not going to be utilized say every day for a week but you might have a need every X hours or X days. You probably can't afford NOT having that machine on the job site. Its all about utilization. He says looking at what he is paying to make moves on an annual basis, he can save money all things factored in. I also suggested that as his heaviest piece is a 320 Cat, what about downsizing that (it has about 6000 hrs) to something smaller so he could get a 25 ton triaxle tag? He has a very nice R-688 that could handle it, but he views that as a backward step in terms of his ability to compete for higher yardage jobs.
  17. Ok thx-went on line and educated myself that the 12 L E7 has been around since 88. I also had someone tell me that in 05 there were a couple of changes made to 427 E7. Any clue as to what separates "good one" from the lesser version?
  18. EJ- Saw it-as this is an 03, is it a Mack engine vs MP-7 in the 05 which is???Someone told me if block is "red" its a Volvo. Gray its a Mack Anyone??
  19. Thx guys for all your posts. Looking at Truckpaper there aren't many 613's with that front end-and that price with those miles
  20. How about it guys. Have a young friend who thinks he is spending too much on outside trucking moving his equipment so he is thinking of getting a 35 ton trailer (His biggest piece is a 320 Cat). He is looking at an 05 CHN 613, 427, 10 spd, 14/44 axles, camelback, decent rubber (24.5) 341,000 miles, wet system (believe it was a low boy tractor) As I see positives are, Under $40 grand, 14 front, camelback, low miles . 44 rear is probably keeping price down but IMO, that will work for him, No piss system. Is a 427 in 2005 an MP 7 or 8. All opinions welcome.
  21. Nice work!
  22. Hmnn? What were the "good ideas" associated with the Cat trucks? Probably good for Navistar as if someone bought a Cat and liked the cab, they would likely say..."I think I'll buy the same cab without all the issues and for less money from Navistar"
  23. Thx Interesting info. If the Lockheed Martin/BAE version gets the nod, that should be good news for Ford as far as unit costs. Also I have to believe acceptance of a proposal with the 6.7 should be a good testimonial to the durability of the engine-or should I say "perceived" durability?
  24. Nice- When my youngest was into HO trains I bought an air brush and we did some 50's 60's diesels-made em look old-never knew the tea trick though
  25. PZ 1. The minute I hit the send key I had a thought and went to the bookcase and pulled out my copy of "Mack" by John Montville. You are correct according to this book as it lists all models by years of production. Many B series are listed through 1966. Guess I should send Museum a note
