Real Men drive L's no sissy power steering here... All it takes is a strong arm and the truck moving just a little, eat your Wheaties and Spinach and you will be OK. Get the Beer Belly off helps to get between the steering wheel and seat back too with that big wheel. BenGay at night helps a lot. On an LT it has that small steering box connected directly to the column, not many choices for a power steering box. The only way to put power steering on one is the drag link slave cylinder with the control valve on the end. Rig up the pump of back of fuel pump or belt off Aux drive. Your truck has a 400 in it if I remember right? Matt put the setup that I am talking about on my B-755, it uses the same strait shaft box as the LT. There was no room for newer larger boxes. It does work and I have a smaller wheel for my Belly.

I was looking for a while for the V-Clamps and Heavy Spring clamps for on turbo hoses. I found them all at www.azsupply.com Don't know why I can't link it. But got 10, 4inch heavy spring clamps for $48.00 with free shipping, made in the USA. Same as Mack at a fraction of the price. Part# B9224-413B. They are made by Breeze.

What is your all time favorite Mack Truck Model?
AZB755V8 replied to Barry's question in Mack Truck Q & A
It is hard to just say one. Got to love the AB and really all chain drives. As for what can still be driven on the road, the LTL, B-75 and RW are all Classic Mack's -

Ground Ground and Ground!! Back feed will get running lights to work. -
I will go with fullfuel on the marine E9, He has a 925hp out of a boat. I wanted to get it off him for drag racing. There is a lot of liquid cools stuff on them and that all helped to make horsepower. I know enough to be dangerous about gasoline boat engines though. All the exhaust manifolds are water cooled from salt or fresh water. If it is a fresh water boat chances are it is an open system, water is first run through the engine then cool the exhaust. In a salt water boat the engine is a closed system with glycol and a heat exchanger, exhaust is cooled though sea strainer water pump circuit.

The big components are the same and are the ones I want spares of as well. A lot of the other smaller components are all different but I did think heads where the same too. What is the difference between marine and truck heads? How many of the E9's were actually installed in boats? I have heard it was as low as 20-30 engines. If that was the case there was a lot of money lost in just the tooling.
-
I have seen that boat for sale on line for a while. Nice boat and really moves. There are a few guys here that have marine E9 V8's out of boats. They are dependable engines but it is all in how you run them and maintain them. Parts are available still as well as rebuild kits but are not cheap. There are no new engines anymore as they have not been produced in almost 20 years. Only issue in a boat is who is going to work on it? Most Mack Truck shops have not seen E9's in years, but there are a few shops that still have qualified guys to work on them. Try and find a spare truck engine for parts, all the big components are the same. If something major happens you will be glad you did. Parts are not cheap but most diesel stuff is not these days. If you get the boat and decide to repower it I would be interested in the engines.

Good Body guys all have three vises: Women, money and drinking issues. All take away time from what they are really good at. It goes with the job, just think what could happen if they really put thier mind to it. No one wants to finish what someone else started but if time is short that may have to be done. Good luck on getting the RW back together in a week. I got a car that was started almost 5 years ago. It will be perfect but a little over due. Good thing my health is good and not planing on going 6 feet under soon.

It sounds crazy but around here, Scottsdale, it is more the norm than you would think. Taking Daddy jet with half a doz. friends to Val or Tahoe for a ski trip is a way of getting rid of the teens for a weekend. Kids with BMW's, Mercedes, Hellcats a Lambo or two, it is not of this world. I was running a 2004 Porsche 996 twin turbo on a bad, bad tune, missing about 300hp that is suppose to be there. I already emailed the shop to say WTF. It is sort of old school here, Phoenix, with some of the racing stuff. There is a little airport in Gila Bend, AZ that is not used much. On a few weekends a years it is rented out for doing speed runs. It is a mile runway, 1/2mile gas pedal to the floor, 1/2 mile with brake pedal to the floor, side by side. As many runs as you want all day, $200 per day fee. Only thing needed is a Cert. Helmet, I like those rules. Only problem is that you can only do a run or two and hour. Going fast is not the problem..... it is stopping, brakes get red hot after two running back to back.

I saw one in a 4 door Wrangler, it was a factory looking job, really nice and sounded great. The swap was over $20k plus the Wrangler. It was a kid's and dad paid for it. His mommy traded it in on a 6 cylinder when she drove it once!! The guy that owns it now got a great deal and is older. Was out at the No Fly Zone today 1/2 mile run, my best was 164.8mph. It was good enough to put a little Woop Ass on those Hellcat powered things. The car is real light on power today should have been in the 180's. Back to the shop.. Top dog was a 2015 Nissan GTR@ 202.2mph with 1500hp.

AZB755V8 replied to Willie dog's topic in Antique and Classic Mack Trucks General Discussion
Guards, What guards do you speak of? Those things get in the way first thing and have to come off. You know all grinders work better that way. I can't find any of then there guards to put back on anyway... -

AZB755V8 replied to Willie dog's topic in Antique and Classic Mack Trucks General Discussion
That is bad.. sorry to hear that and to see it... Oh man. You going to save the finger? I had not had any wheel come apart except a little Dremel tool. What brand was that so I will never us it, Harbor Freight? I use Norton or Dewalt. -
No not stereo typing, If you read the situation that I described it could be anyone at the wheel, you are stereo typing thinking I am pointing at women. I think mommy mobile through a curve in it, I drive the SUV mommy mobile with the kids in it. I know I could not focus on driving with all that going on and have 700hp under my foot. Got it, and made my point, I'm going to play with high powered stupid stuff now... and focus on driving and having fun....
-
You are missing the point somewhat, just having a little fun. 700hp in the mommy mobile is just stupid. I will be the first to say I own about half of the cars you just mentioned plus a a few with big power, twin turbo Mercedes, 1100hp 65 Cobra, 1200hp Superliner... I even managed to get black flagged at Las Vegas Dragstriip for going to fast and bumping on mandatory parachute rule. Yes, I am one of the VERY stupid that has lived for power and speed all my life. I am running in the No Fly Zone in a few days, 1/2 mile on a runway, Guys are begging me to take the 1000hp twin turbo Porsche. It is just funny that manufactures are making cars these days that can get you instantly thrown out of racing events and are perfectly legal on the street. Capable of 3X the speed limit with no prior driving experience required just a drivers license. All I am saying is that NO normal person can handle 500hp plus and not get into trouble real quick, not to mention with the kids in the back seat. One hand on the cell phone other half holding the wheel, Starbucks in the cup holder, Stereo cranked, a crying kid and a momentary lapse of reason.... I can only focus on driving, when behind the wheel of something with a lot of power. No stereo, no coffee, no kids, no cell phone... only driving. Yes to helmet, driving suit, 5 point harness, horse collar, gloves, cage and window net... plus. Would anyone, including me, put a loaded gun in the hands of someone that has NO or little experience without heavy supervision? It is just a formula for disaster. Hey, It's is all in having a little fun... but responsible fun with the proper safety and training. The manufacture are being ill responsible.

Headlights stuck on
AZB755V8 replied to Rick whitmore's topic in Electrical, Electronics and Lighting
The only way the lights are on is if there is power to them, you have got a short. Don't think it's is a ground problem. No relay in that circuit in most all Mack's. Start tracing the 2 wires back to the dash, third wire should be the ground. -
No Oh No it is not a joke... It has to be true because it is on the internet thats what my kids are telling me. They think it is awesome so does the babysitter and the soon to come lawyers...

What Would happen: The biggest and last thing your 16 year old decides to get BOTH keys off the table and take it for a joy ride at full power with 3 of his buddys at 1:00am in the morning!!! Oh..Sh%$

When the truck was a money maker it really didn't matter what it took to keep it on the road and not sitting. The engine could be the one installed at birth or the valve cover could have been damaged and replaced. The fact is if you are getting it to have some fun and preserve it for a while that is good enough for most of us here. As for original engine, all of my trucks do not have the original engines. Some guys know it and some don't but it is always a conversation starter. At any show I have never been i've never been asked: if it had the original engine it would be better or worth more. Every one smiles and says it is really cool to just see it still running and thanks for bringing it out. If you get it and repair this engine just have the pump done. It is only a small turn of a screw to go from 400 to 450hp. injectors and turbo should not have to be changes for that increase. If you are not pulling anything you will never feel a difference. It is a great ride ether way and still on the road... have fun.

B tow hooks.
AZB755V8 replied to Hobert62's topic in Antique and Classic Mack Trucks General Discussion
Yes those are the extended brackets and hooks. The brackets are a direst bolt on just take your's off and bolt those on. Normally with an extended bumper there is a top plate. One step further is the 5 piece grill guard. -
That is sort of crazy to put a 700hp engine is the family kid mobile. All wheel drive and 500hp in a Porsche Turbo 911 is a handful for just about anyone. Sort of like having a SRT SUV at 425hp and thinking it can run circles around anything on the road. It's still a mommy mobile not a sports car. Then add another couple hundred horse power. LOL On the other hand the Challenger can't hook the tires without the traction control on. 4 wheel drive and 700hp maybe the answer to planting the tire on the pavement and giving the kids in the back seat permanent whiplash. I like big power but not in the hands of the wife and babysitter. Besides I what my family around for a long time not rapped around a tree.

Serial # on all Mack V8's is on the right front oil pan rail stamped on a machined pad. Think all other Mack I6 engines have it in the same place too. Not all engines have the same serial# as the frame or door. Valve cover info is for emissions and valve lash settings.

The prices that he charges are fair compared to other shops. No more than another engine shop with a fraction of the experience with E9's. The parts that I got there were not any more than Mack or really PEI. He has all the parts and does most of the work himself. Nice guy doesn't BS and just says the way it is. He is more into bigger jobs and not just selling parts without labor. He makes a living not a killing off E9's. Yes you can spend $100K on a 2500HP plus engine or A few grand on rebuilding heads and or injection pump, injectors with him.
-
Yep, They are all of the above. You don't need to bother with something like that. I am sure there is someone here that wouldn't mind get their hands on it. Let us know if you decide to pass on it. Thats funny I just got 3 E9's from Canada coming down here. LOL...

I got the same color cab. I was thinking of Chrome vinyl or Silver Metallic with a Red or White shadow or outline. The Black is to dark to be seen from a distance. Shouldn't be any extra cost for shinny vinyl material from a sign shop.
