Superliner question
AZB755V8 replied to felicello122's topic in Antique and Classic Mack Trucks General Discussion
Like on my truck. Think it was actually made out of aluminum at Madison Mack on my truck. it is 6 inch. I think Back in Black's is 7" into 6 at the turbo and mounted higher. -
Repainting the Aussie Value Liner
AZB755V8 replied to mackdaddy's topic in Exterior, Cab, Accessories and Detailing
That is what I thought too on the colors. I noticed the frame is like the old RW, What year is it, I don't recall? I was just working on the Superliner today, installing a new chain locker. It will just have a big chain locker on it for a year or so, no custom sleeper yet but planed. I'll have it at Salem with an empty trailer and run up to the border after the show. I just purchased two MH's just north of the border and pick them up then. The sleeper will be on hold and I what to get one of these MH's back on the road. This way I will have something to pull the trailer and other trucks when I pull the Superliner down for a reframe (20"longer and double frame) and add the sleeper then. It needed the extra length to look right with an 80" sleeper and I didn't like the spliced current frame, even though it was done right. About a year project for me. You get that Red LT done? Any photos? -

Dan, I thought the truck had original paint on it when you got it? Are the original colors White and Red? It is a tough looking truck already, It will be Awesomely Tough when you are done!! Hope you are keeping the Dog-n-Lightning on top. -
MH's and E9's
AZB755V8 replied to AZB755V8's topic in Antique and Classic Mack Trucks General Discussion
Yep that is the one, only one I have seen. Getting the Hard to find aluminum bumper too!! It is an easy fix in the old shop press, pretty strait to start with. Glad to see you took a few photo's for my sake.. -
You know an old fart, like me, has one thing and only one thing in his life Regularity. If that little thing is upset it F^%& up the whole day. My wife can vouch for that today, I am a cranky SOB with out my old BMT,..... Change is not good most of the time..., ever tried to remember where you put your keys if they are not in the same spot or not take a dump on the same old seat, it's just wrong. Training and old dog new tricks isn't easy especially when you shock the crap out of them first.... Still might learn possibly if I have to.

MH's and E9's
AZB755V8 replied to AZB755V8's topic in Antique and Classic Mack Trucks General Discussion
It is like the one on my Superliner. Sort of squared and straight across, comes to a point in the middle. Is that a Lund model? Only one I have seen on MH's are rounded and follow the curve of the windshields. This one sticks out about 10 inches, further than the rounded one at about 6. -
I am on the third computer and thought it was me or my connection. What the Hell Happend? It's enough to make a old guy go and drink or think alzheimer's is setting in. I bet the Chinese have something to do with this... or Barry changed things and forgot to tell us all...

MH's and E9's
AZB755V8 replied to AZB755V8's topic in Antique and Classic Mack Trucks General Discussion
Yes Tom, I am a Superliner fan as well but everything below the cab is the same. I just could not pass on the deal so Hopefully I can stop with 4-5 Mack's now. Can't say yes to parting with the 18spd, it is maybe a spare for my Superliner. When I am up there to get all the stuff, around the ATHS show time, I can see if BC Mack will part with the 18spd he got from Carl. I don't know which trans to use in the MH a Mack 12 or a Fuller 13, when it is restored, have one of each on engines. Though likely to use the the 18 and make a Drag race truck out of one MH. Parts, I have no problem helping everyone with parts, just not engine stuff. I just have to get it all and sort though the crates to see what is all there. If there are request I can get parts off the Glider that the spare engine is coming out of. I am sure it will be scraped after I leave. Only thing I really want is the visor, it is squared and I have not seen one like it before on an MH. -

Superliner question
AZB755V8 replied to felicello122's topic in Antique and Classic Mack Trucks General Discussion
Go to "Waking up the E9" post you can see how it was done on my Superliner. I don't think any brackets were moved or made. They sure help it breathe!! -
antique insurance
AZB755V8 replied to stuie56's topic in Antique and Classic Mack Trucks General Discussion
It depends on the state for age, I've lived in AZ and OH both have the 25 years and older historic plate, it is the copper state, plate is actually made of copper. The only way to get a historic plate on a class 8 truck in AZ is no weight. It can not be loaded in any way or hooked to a non historic trailer. Laws in AZ have changed in the last 20 years on this. I have historic plates on the 88 Superliner and want to take the trailer with other two on deck to shows. Can't do it without weight sticker on a commercial plate on tractor, that is state laws. Have weight on registration also for federal laws for state to state passage. Have regular plates on the 53 with no weight. $190 for 5 years with no restrictions except to hook and haul. Regular and weight on the 65 to hook and haul empty trailer. The Hagerty insurance truck age is not published but it is there. I almost dropped them over it, their main business is old cars and I have a few. -
MH's and E9's
AZB755V8 replied to AZB755V8's topic in Antique and Classic Mack Trucks General Discussion
Yes I did, That is one of the two that I got. The other one was in the other building with all the parts. Super guy, How many MH's did he have? I counted 6 that were still there. I missed the last spare E9 engine by a month. It was still there waiting on pick up. It was purchased by the crane guy that has that red double steer Superliner up there as a spare for it. It is a super nice truck heard he was thinking about replacing it just because of age. Changed his mind when the bid came in on a new crane and got a few spare parts for it, best of all this one is paid for. -
MH's and E9's
AZB755V8 replied to AZB755V8's topic in Antique and Classic Mack Trucks General Discussion
Had to get an MH to match the Superliner I got from you several years ago. I almost got as good a deal on this MH as you did. I can make this into a real nice truck only a few years out though. Got a few projects already in the works. -
Just got back from Canada and very happy. I closed a deal on 2 complete E9-500 MH's both run when parked, air ride 3.86 and 4.17, a spare complete E9-500 and a ton of MH parts. New exhaust in boxes. Good bumpers, grills, glass, visors, perfect tanks, no rail spread. Mack 18 in one, 12 spd in other and 13 Fuller on spare engine. Super nice guy had them for 10-12 years and did not have time or money to complete one. There was another MH E9 and spare engine that was not for sale. He has to sell off his stuff because the farm is going up for sale next year. Property taxes are killing him. Didn't really want all the stuff but it was a great deal that I could not pass by. From what he said there are a lot of E9 MH's up there by Vancouver because of the length laws and need for big power years ago. Thought I was done with the old dog rescue with the last one but am saving a lease one more. The dog house is almost full. I was so into looking at everything I did not take one photo. Is there more MH guys out there? They kind of grow on you.

antique insurance
AZB755V8 replied to stuie56's topic in Antique and Classic Mack Trucks General Discussion
I have Hagerty for all my plus 25 year old stuff. Only thing is they do not want to do 35 years and newer class 8 trucks. The reason is that some 30 year old trucks are still out there making money. I had a little problem with my 88 Superliner (28 years old) but they did it once I told said I was dropping them and my other 8 vehicles coverage. You do need to have the truck under cover and preferable in a garage. NO money or any compensation, even a cup of coffee, for hauling ANYTHING. Also if you show the truck at a pay to view event (ATHS show) coverage is in question even if you do not get a dime. The trailer is a different story it is a 2014 so no Hagerty. It is insured with Travelers but only for theft and damage, no liability on trailer, it is all on the power unit. Same deal on the other trailers I have, they can't run into something without the tractor connected to it. -
I tried to send an email offer to the hrlucky52@yahoo.com account and it bounced back. Stated you have no account at Yahoo. PM. me back here with your number or other email. I sent you a PM on the pump.

E9 valve cover
AZB755V8 replied to MACKTRUCKS4's topic in Antique and Classic Mack Trucks General Discussion
I don't have an extra one but TIG welding the one you have should not be a problem make sure it is clean and use Acetone to clean the oil out of the crack before welding. CLEAN is everything in welding aluminum. -
Thought all Magnum's were 1985's. Also wasn't 1985 the first year for the E9-500?

I am interested in a truck and spare engine that is in Canada for a personal restoration project. In talking to a few Canadian that are here in AZ for the winter it is not as easy as it used to be. One of these guys normally brings down a few cars to sell at the AZ auctions that just ended. Only this year was turned back at the border because the cars need to be impounded for 30 days to check VIN, EPA and DOT certifications. I understand the rules changed January 2016. What do you guys know about importing from Canada? Does the vehicle need to set at the border in impound for 30 days? What about an engine does it need to set there as well?

Sharp LT on Ebay
AZB755V8 replied to Superdog's topic in Antique and Classic Mack Trucks General Discussion
I have seen it several times before on Ebay. There is a boat load of money in it and it is really nice. Hope he gets his price, it can only help raise the prices on these old trucks to what it cost to restore them. I do my trucks for preserving history and not for getting my money back, I never will, can't take anything with me in the end anyway. -
Mack twisted sister air suspension
AZB755V8 replied to Refined Trucker's topic in Driveline and Suspension
That is a nice twin bag system.. Beat it rides beautifully, has great rebound and is hard to ware out. And best will never be improved upon. -
Good luck finding them. Had to weld and machine one of the two I have. Traded the last pin and clevis, about a year ago, that I had and it was really bent up. I'm still looking too.

Shane Think you are posting in the wrong section. If you are selling the parts they need a price.
