  1. We used to add remote breathers on trucks growing up. For trucks that did occasional water crossings we ran the breathers to the top of the firewall You also need to deal with the intake For trucks that worked in the swamp we also set them up to pressurize the transmission, transfer case and axles to 5 psi
  2. We're the batteries properly secured and all of the terminals insulated? We're the four propane tanks the small screw on ones? I had an issue with the valve on a partial one leaking
  3. Do you have a source and part numbers for R model weather striping? I need to do the entire doors on two trucks soon
  4. I think a lot of the cops are the kids that were picked on in high school and now they on a vengeful power trip. This cop might have gone to school with the cop that told me I needed a class B CDL to drive a three axle truck and that I could not drive a three axle truck with my class A CDL. I stumped him by asking if I could drive a car with my class A
  5. I use the power divider frequently I have been told not to use it any more than necessary on dry pavement and never engage the power divider when the truck is moving I have a 1989 truck with 25,000 miles on it with the Hendrickson four spring suspension on it and it would spin a tire on the driveway and not move until I locked the power divider when it was empty. This problem went a way when we replaced the suspension bushings, they were cracked and seized from lack of use.
  6. Mine is stamped 12 74 and it is on a 1975 truck I have always assumed that the numbers were the build date Your valve looks different from mine, can you post a picture of the entire valve
  7. This actually looks like a M816 not a M819 The op may be referring to the ground spades that were typically carried on top of the boom
  8. Triple header, three ads containing three complete trucks and a parts truck. 12. Thanks for the offer but it would be a little hard to get to my place in Southern California and it is a bit more of a project than I currently have the time for.
  13. Where are you located? They have stores all over the place
  14. The weather was bad here in Southern California last night. I woke up this morning and the truck yard was wet mud so I went back to sleep
  15. Where is it located and what are the specs and how about some pictures
  16. We just call it horrible freight But in all so honesty there c clamps, grinding discs, flap wheels, moving dollies, moving blankets are good They are also good for limited or occasional use tools The silver tarps are better than the blue ones Price check almost everything I buy on the internet
  17. How loud would a 350 be with a straight 4" pipe?
  18. Now to add to the confusion The hood on my 1975 RS685LT and my 1985 RS688LST both measure 54.25" and the distance from the grill to back if can on both trucks is 105" The 1975 hood is a flat top The 1985 hood has the raised center The 1985 RS688LST has the air to air after cooler mounted in front of the radiator The 1975 was built in Hayward The 1975 was built in Allentown
  19. Why, the last time I was there they gave me a free one
  20. When you go from a 300-330 hp engine to a 550 hp engine with double the displacement is becomes a real problem to make it work and fit Why the desire for all the horsepower?
  21. Sounds like garrison power assist steering Clean the grease off of the control valve, drag link, you may find a part number If you pm me your email address I can send you the manuals that I have Does it turn to the right with power assist? Depending on where you are located you may be able to get it to work by changing the fluid Good news is that garrison is still in business and located in Southern California Bad news is that the valves quite often are not rebuildable due to wear.
  22. There should be a tag on the passenger side of the engine. It is located on the block behind the injector pump and under the turbo Have some rags and engine cleaner handy because it could be covered by a bunch of dirt and oil
  23. The blue 86 RD688 hood differs from my 85 RS688LST My real goal is to find out how much longer a RS712LST hood is than my 85 RS688LST I have been thinking about turning this truck Into a close copy of this truck
  24. The blue 86 RD688 hood differs from my 85 RS688LST My real goal is to find out how much longer a RS712LST hood is than my 85 RS688LST I have been thinking about turning this truck Into a close copy of this truck
  25. Pull the engine cover off and look for the turbo. When you have the cover off look at the valve covers, the jake brake has a 1" spacer between the head and valve cover. There should be an electrical connection to the passenger side of each spacer.
