  1. What I think is funny is you see trucks doing a regen on the side of the road spewing so much smoke it looks like they are on fire. The old particles were large enough that that human body could not absorb them. The particles that are discharged during regen are small enough the human body can absorb them.
  2. I received a package today that was scheduled to be here on Wednesday. It was shipped buy UPS and delivered by USPS. Yes shipped by brown and delivered by white.
  3. It is a steal at 28k but it needs AC
  4. I found it It is an ex US Navy truck
  5. Here is some information on it, and it is on the national historic register http://www.nps.gov/nr/publications/sample_nominations/MarionSteamShovel.pdf
  6. Are those training wheels?
  7. I do like seeing the dogs leading the way Lisa started out as a inexperienced kid, they probably recruited her as eye candy, but she has ended up being a good driver and she is still eye candy. Alex is just an old school driver doing his job Todd Dewey is a drama queen Darrel Ward has a big ego Art is the court jester, there is at least one on each "reality show" A lot of this fits the typical reality show model that they seem to use.
  8. We do not need the Middle East oil! Contrary to what the liberal tree huggers want us to believe we are but running out of oil. I do believe that we should use all of our natural resources as efficiently as possible. But I also believe that we need to work with Mother Nature. I do get sick and tired of the bullshit that is spewed by all of the liberal tree huggers. The is more known oil reserves under North America than there is in the Middle East. What we need to do is tell the tree hugging liberals that our priority is making this country great. We need to return to a position of power, and not be a pawn. To do this we need the capability to be self sufficient. We need to explore these reserves and bring them to production. We also need to build new and better refineries. Once we commit to this our dependence on the Middle East will be broken and they will have to beg us to by there oil.
  9. Now pull the third member and check it and clean out the pieces. Check the housing for magnets it is amazing what collects on them, even on a good axle
  10. Yes Allison MT654CR back in 1979/80
  11. Bleached hair and flat chested, almost as bad as a fake red head
  12. I really like real red heads but there avoidance of the sun does not fit my lifestyle. Not into this fake red head stuff I also do not get the tattoos
  13. I think it is funny that the two guys commenting about California's emissions restrictions are not from California. The truth is there are exemptions for low milage and special use trucks. There are also other exemptions. I did not have a chance to really check these trucks out to see if they were rust free. These trucks were from Nevada and were originally Nevada State Highway plow trucks. At some point in there life they were converted to tankers. If anyone is looking for parts pm me and I can give you the contact information. They are located in central California about 7 or 8 hours north of me.
  14. This week I was able to walk the yard and discovered what had happened to the trucks It looks like they were both scrapped.
  15. Back in April of 2014 I found a pair of running R models in a truck wrecking yard. The information that they provided me did not make sense so I contacted the mack museum and received the build sheet.
  16. Neat video There corporate headquarters is a few miles from me. I have a trailer in my yard that we have had a hard time identifying, the data plate was missing, and one of the mechanics I know thinks it could be a utility from the 50's. I took pictures of it to there office and they had no interest in even looking at the trailer. You would think that they would at least want to look at the pictures.
  17. I liked the article about the desert buses
  18. We just got a contract to haul out of the state capital. We will probably need to use double 53' trailers to haul all the hot air
  19. I would build up the air. Shut the truck down. Chock it and do the COLA air brake test. If I remember correctly the governor actually controls two valves in the air compressor that unload it. These valves can stick.
  20. What belts are you using? I had a similar issue on my ford with the gates alligator belts. Changed the belt to a factory one and the squeal went away.
  21. You are correct 34 K on the tandems is 4250 per tire. If the suspension, rims, hubs and tires are rated correctly you can get 34K on the tandems. Per the first post the tires are 8.25 R15 The attached chart show the load rating can be as high as 5675 for duel s at 125 psi, max 55 mph http://www.goodyeartrucktires.com/pdf/resources/service-manual/Retread_S14_V.pdf You do need to check the tires to see what they are actually rated for.
  22. What is the current weight on each axle? You are allowed 12 k on steering axle 34 k on each pair of tandems Max is 80 k (without a permit)
  23. Build it as big as you can afford I built a 24 x 34.5 with a 16 wide 12 foot high door on one end and it is to small. I planning a 30 x 40 with a 15 foot lean to on one side.
  24. When we rebuilt the green truck AC, radio, air ride seats, a second fuel tank and the list goes on were added. Soon it will get a tilt nose. We are working on its baby brother right now. This truck is getting AC, stereo, air ride seats, 3.90 gears (instead of the 4.88's) with an air locker, reyco air ride suspension, the mt643 was converted to a mt653 (this added a super low first). No we did not fix that cab. It was replaced with a rust free CA cab. To dress things up we are adding aluminum rims and stainless mirrors.
