Quickfarms replied to Quickfarms's topic in Antique and Classic Mack Trucks General Discussion
I just received the chassis build record from the Mack museum this morning the truck was originally sold in Los Angeles and was dulex 93-72218-h green cab and frame with white and black per a sketch and white rear wheels does anyone have a dulex paint chart from that era? any idea on who ran those colors in 1970? -
I hope you have a speedy and complete recovery 30 years ago I was involved in a serious accident at work and spent a month in the hospital. I had to learn to walk again and I can still feel where they drilled a hole in my skull. for months after being home I would do something one day and the next day I would spend the day on the couch. Covid caused my PTSD to be evident and no longer controlled and I am having issues related to my TBI my advice is doctors are still practicing medicine and are basing there advice on an average. According to my doctors I should not due some of the stuff that I do. I advise people to listen to there body, my orthopedist told me sore is OK, time to stop, but pain is a red flag and to call him.

I tried to upload a video of us pulling the truck out of the spot where it has been sitting since 2007 and starting down the 3/4 mile dirt road to the pavement but the file is too big so here is a short video of the Mack crossing the wash is there a way I can load a larger video? IMG_6913.mov -

Worked on cleaning out the cab today I removed the drivers seat and the rest of the carpet. I removed the blower motor from the heater but was unable to remove the front cover because the temperature control lever is stuck, do the knobs come off of the levers? -

Not everybody but there is quite a bit. The sad part is when it is left to rot into the ground -

It is not my trailer but that is a very common conversion. All that is required to remove the goose neck coupler is two bolts. Then a king pin coupler is slid up into the tube and the two bolts are reinstalled. They also use the small slip disc. i have been told that the gooseneck is better off road -

I should be noted that in 2020 the population of Japan was 125.8 million. So this is roughly 1 in 6, and this will force a huge change

Yes the four legged animal Look up Kentucky derby, probably not at that level. we had two major tracks in our local area and one closed and is now Sofi Stadium home of the Rams football team betting is a major part of horse racing and with off track betting the attendance at each track has declined -

Bob you don’t by any chance have any more information about that truck or a photo, I know it’s a long shot but I am always curious about the history on a truck -

This is the first Mack I have dealt with that did not have any means to tow it in the front bumper so I had to change the hooks on one of my chains from grab hooks to slip hooks so i could use it as a bridal on the front axle I also found out some more history on this truck the previous owner used it to haul race horse’s and sold it when they downsized due to age -

What is the going rate in your area? there will always be guys working cheaply, for wages only still thinking like they are an employee, but how long will they survive and what will happen to them if and when something goes sideways i would raise the rate or start charging them for all the little stuff and add a fuel surcharge, if you are mobile you need to work smarter, not harder

It looks like a standard 8 x 5 3/8” rim for a 16” lawn tractor front tire What is the spindle diameter and length and is it centered or offset in the rim
-
Based on the pictures on line and the manual I found they look like normal garden tractor wheels and tires of the era. Can you post the following information tire size spindle diameter and width they look like the case, ingersol, wheels I am familiar with

I worked on the truck today getting it ready to move to my place next weekend. I aired up the tires and tried to charge the air system but the foot valve has a huge air leak so I had to cage the brakes and they were a little stubborn from sitting since 2007. I will need to replace the foot valve and probably also the pedal since it is seized, as is the throttle pedal. does anyone have the Mack part numbers? I suspect the throttle is Mack specific and the foot valve and pedal may be Bendix -

A 350, great I need more power so I am not climbing the passes in the slow lane. I used to run with the military vehicle group but got kicked out because I drove to fast and all I did was fix everything so it was factory new so I could cruise at a comfortable speed. at least the ATHS guys travel at 55+ in CA -

You probably mean bottom dump trailers. You also see a lot of them hauling hay and in the ag sector not to mention LTL
