  1. There's a saying... ...if you are 20 years old and not a liberal, you have no heart... ...and if you are 40 years old and not a conservative, you have no brain. I'm proud to say, I never had a heart and acquired a brain at an early age.
  2. Ever see these doggie treats? The packaging says it is an "American company"...and that it is "Manufactured and distributed by" a company with an address in the USA. However....you'll also see "Made in China" on the package. I put it back on the shelf. I ain't buyin' chinacrap for Dozer.
  3. When I hauled logs, the trailer I had was a 102". When I'd load the skidders or the rubber tire loader on to haul to a job, it would hang over 3" on each side if I had it centered...which wasn't TOO noticeable. I always liked loading it myself because I would center the dang thing...the truck boss always had the tires even with the edge of the trailer on the left side, and hanging over 6" on the right...where the scale house attendant (if we crossed any scales) would be hard pressed to NOT notice. We never had permits. Never ran flags or banners. Most of the time, we just used 2 chains, 2 binders, and rolled.
  4. That's an easy enough problem to solve.....just don't get caught!
  5. Even during the week, you only need a permit if you get pulled over...
  6. Here's another thought... Whenever a government entity goes bankrupt, anyone who has held office during the 20 years leading up to that bankruptcy ought to be imprisoned for a term 3 times as long as they held office. Same should happen in the federal government if we lose our AAA bond rating. Heck, just hitting the debt ceiling ought to trigger prison terms for anyone in elected office....1 day for each dollar they need to raise it. These problems do not develop overnight...and those responsible ought to be held liable. These people have been placed in a position of public trust, and they have violated that trust. Lock 'em up. Each and every one of 'em.
  7. I'd like to see 'em hit the debt ceiling....basically a de facto balanced budget amendment. There would be no default so long as the interest is paid on the bonds....and more than enough comes in every month to cover that, so it shouldn't be a concern. Social Security can be paid, too...they have a bunch of IOU's (aka bonds) that can be sold, and the money sent out to social security recipients without adding to the debt. There is also enough money coming in each month to cover active military and veterans benefits....with a little left over. The only "tax" problem we have is they are too high, and not enough people have "skin in the game". What we have is a SPENDING problem. What would be better than a balanced budget amendment would be an amendment requiring each and every penny of spending cite the Constitutional authorization for that spending...because most of what we have now wouldn't pass that simple test. Eliminate all funding for all programs without specific Constitutional authorization and the budget would be balanced and we'd be running a surplus.
  8. You mean like a spray-in bed-liner such as Rhinocoat or Line-X? I'm not sure that would work too well in an end dump, since most of those spray-in bed-liners also increase grip so that things won't slide around in the bed of the truck....and that wouldn't work too well when you WANT the stuff in the bed to slide out. I'm afraid if you use TOO hard of a coating, it'll just chip & flake off.
  9. Nope...LOVE the heat. HATE the cold....unless it's snowing. I LOVE snow & ice...but as soon as it quits snowing and the roads are cleared, I'm ready for it to warm back up.
  10. Working outside in the rain on a 95+ degree day feels good...sure beats working outside in the rain on a 50 degree day.
  11. I just wish I didn't have to share that bed with 'em...
  12. I couldn't tell you if the AC here at the house works or not...ain't even turned it on in 4 years. My Mack doesn't even HAVE A/C....I pulled it out to save on weight.
  13. They don't....but they SHOULD!

  16. top comment: I want one...
  17. Don't feel too bad...there is a building up in Sesser that was being constructed by "professionals"....had it beautifully framed...trusses for the roof in place.... Storm done blowed it down, too. When I get ready to build any outbuildings 'round here, I'm building 'em as pole barns. Sink them poles in the ground and build around 'em. Just seems sturdier than the house of cards some of these buildings seem to be.
  18. When I first bought my truck, my first load with it went down to Dallas. After I delivered, I was heading about an hour North to go see my woman and had some time to kill...so I pulled into the Denton T/A at around 3 AM. I had picked up the Mack filter kit on my way out of town...and just figured I'd get them to do the oil change. Shop was D-E-A-D when I walked in....guy at the counter was even asleep. I asked about the price, since I already had the OEM filters that I wanted used, and was just looking to have the price discounted the cost of the filters since they weren't going to be needing to supply them. Same price, whether I supplied the filters or they use their own....no discount for supplying my own filters. I told 'em it can wait 'till I get home and I'll do it myself....at least that way, I'll know it's done RIGHT! The guy at the counter looked kinda shocked that I walked out. I've only had someone else change my oil 1 time since I bought this truck...and that was when it was at Mack for the new camshaft, oil pump, main bearings, etc. etc. etc. It was going to get fresh oil anyway, and it was close enough to being due for new filters anyway, I just went ahead and had 'em service it. Truck stops don't touch my truck...and I'll only use the TA as a last resort, and not for anything more than a tire. They are twice as expensive as my regular tire guy for patches and plugs...and the one time I've used 'em, I had to turn around and go back because the damn tire was STILL leaking. Explained why they were twice as expensive....they had to do the job TWICE before they got it right.
  19. not no more... Yum yum.
  20. That would probably be as healthy as some of the "food" I've got around here....
  21. Nah, if you was a true friend, you would've shared...looked mighty tasty. Better than the scraps I'm trying to scrounge together 'round here.
  22. eh...a little duct tape oughtta fix'er right up.
  23. It's all in yer heads....it's just starting to get comfortable out.
  24. Tinting the rear window & top 6" of the Mack sure made quite a difference in my truck! Add a reflective sunblocker thingamabob for the windshield when I'm parked, a couple small fans, roll down the side windows, and that truck stays cooler inside than I would be outside under a shade tree. I just used the 20% vinyl cling stuff...works good enough.
