  1. Sometimes, you get what you pay for. When I need parts, I prefer OEM...might save a few bucks on the cheaper stuff, but it won't perform as well or last as long as the original equipment. Buy sub-par, chinacrap parts and the work that you do now will probably need to be redone before too long.
  2. ...so you'd be OK with seeing your mother, grandmother, aunts, wife, and daughters running around with their boobs hanging out? I'd have to gouge my eyes out if I saw my mom, grandma, or aunts boobs....
  3. Yup....clicked on that there "Stumble!" button and was taken here....
  4. As long as I'm not dripping blood all over whatever it is that I'm working on, there's no reason for the work to stop. Pain is all in your head.
  5. Problem with super glue is that once the tube is opened, it doesn't have a very long shelf-life. Can't see wasting a $2 tube of super glue for a mere flesh wound when a couple paper towels and a 6-8" strip or two of duct tape will work just fine. ...but then that might just be my cheap a$$ pinching pennies again.
  6. I usually have to tape myself up....paper towels over the wound to soak up the blood, then wrap it in duct tape to hold the paper towels in place.

  9. You got harassed LOCALLY? Damn. Locally is about the only place I can get away with anything...
  10. Most of the drivers of these buses don't seem to think the speed limit applies to them, either. Even in the old Illinois split-speed days, the split speed didn't apply to commercial buses....only trucks over 4 tons, vehicles pulling trailers, motor homes, and NON-commercial buses. Like I said, these buses are carrying PEOPLE....their cargo cannot be replaced. If the rules and regulations apply to ANYONE, it ought to be the bus lines. ...but then again we've known for a long time that the rules and regulations are about collecting revenue...NOT about promoting safety. The few dollars in revenue that would be collected during a commercial vehicle harassment session involving a bus is not worth the angry phone calls from constituents who happened to be ON that bus and were late to the casino, ball game, concert, etc....
  11. That ban is likely in place because that bus probably has 50 or so voters aboard....and if you make them late to wherever it is they are going because you are on a wild goose chase....or you place the bus OOS over some random BS that isn't REALLY a problem (but it makes you, the officer, look good because you wrote another citation this month), they won't be very happy and the politicians WILL get an ear full. Politicians do not like angry constituents. Truck drivers in general aren't a very large voting block. You get a few who go out of their way to make sure they vote each and every time there is an election, but for the most part, they are either on the road and fail to get the absentee ballot sent in or they just don't make the effort to even try. That's why WE have to put up with the BS. Not only that, but a wild goose chase only affects 1 of us at a time...so the phones won't be ringing off the hook at any one politician's office. Hell, look at it this way, too...if the old HOS regs (8 hour break, 10 hours driving, 15 hours on duty) were dangerous enough so that FREIGHT haulers could no longer run under them and had to use the new HOS regs (10 hour break, 11 hours driving, 14 hour window)....why do PEOPLE haulers get to still run under the old HOS rules? Last time I checked, FREIGHT was insured....just stuff, which can be replaced. PEOPLE, however, cannot be replaced. IMHO, people-haulers ought to have the strictest scrutiny placed upon them...however, that gets politician's phones ringing with angry constituents, so that just ain't going to happen.
  12. Did the same thing with a company freightshaker several years ago....that truck didn't come out nearly as clean.
  13. Driving in this morning to get loaded, had a little run-in with an overgrown rodent. I was heading north...just before 3 AM....deer appeared in the road....BRAKE! BRAKE! BRAKE! (thud) Awwwwwwww crap. Too dark then to get any pics, so I stopped a little while ago on my way home. Yeah, those are my skid marks in the road....trying to get slowed down... The winner: Tweaked it EVER so slightly... ...and the loser:
  14. Ya know how Canada got it's name, don't ya? They put all the letters of the alphabet into a hat & started drawing 'em out one by one..... "C, eh?"...."N, eh?"...."D, eh?"....

    The Heat

eh...it's all in your head. I was just thinking about how it's FINALLY getting warm enough to get some stuff done after I get home from work.
  16. Found a scanned pic of my old '86 Ranger (before I stripped it down for a rebuild/restomodification). The white Ford in the pic is now my '92 beater truck.
  17. Yup...it's why I won't ever set foot inside another Best Buy store, and encourage anyone and everyone I know to do the same. I don't care if they are handing out $100 bills to everyone that steps through their door, I ain't going to give them the satisfaction of seeing my ugly mug in their store.
  18. My grandpa was in WW2...North Africa and Europe...but all we could ever get him to talk about was his time in the anti-aircraft division....and how he and his fellow soldiers would get so ticked off when they'd see enemy planes overhead and could blow them out of the sky, but by the time information went up the chain of command and got back to them with the command to fire, the planes were gone. Then they'd hear reports of the damage that had been done by those planes that they could have shot down BEFORE they had completed their missions. It was only after he passed away (Veterans Day weekend '05) and grandma got a copy of his discharge papers that we learned he had only been in anti-aircraft a short while before transferring to a bridge carpentry unit and was awarded 4 bronze stars. He had always told my grandma that he had given all his military insignia and medals to his brothers when he returned home (she never saw him in his full uniform) before he went to see her. A few months after he passed away, grandma FINALLY went into his dresser drawer and opened the old cigar box he kept there (he had told her nearly 60 years ago when they were first married that that was HIS, and that she was not to bother it....and like a good wife, she kept out)....where she found his old medals and other stuff from his uniforms. Unfortunately, when she went to the VFW to try getting some more information about what had happened for him to be awarded those medals, she was informed that the records were lost in a fire. Whatever it was, it is something he took with him to his grave. Dammit. Now I'm pissed off all over again. I had a picture of the bronze plaque the VFW put at his grave and added it to the bottom of his old service picture, but it must have been on my old laptop that Best Buy shredded the hard drive on when they replaced it...the 4th time it was in their hands for repairs.....which STILL didn't fix a damn thing. Least they could have done would have been call me and say "we think this is what it'll need, you want us to back it up for you?" Guess next time I'm up in the Chicago area I'll have to visit the grave and get another pic, track down who has that old service picture to get another copy, and redo the whole thing....I don't mind visiting Grandpa's grave, just pissed I can't post that pic here now.
  19. It is a finger....keeps getting in the way of my shots. Oh well...I'm sure I'll get the hang of it eventually. Hadn't even had the phone a full day, so cut me some slack.
  20. I didn't care much for those side plates....hid most of the styling details of those older trains. I LOVE the whistle and the way it chugs along....much more pleasant than the diesel locomotives and their stupid air horns (that I hear a LOT of)
  21. Video is off my new cell phone, too.... awwwww screw it....doesn't want to let me embed it.....here's the danged link: http://www.myspace.com/video/rid/110161575
  22. Pics taken with my new cell phone....
