  1. When I drove a wrecker, I never wore a vest. The few times I did, I noticed traffic zipped by in closer proximity than when I didn't have it on...almost as though since they could see me & thought they'd miss me, they weren't concerned about giving me space, but when they COULDN'T see me as easily, they were more cautious as they drove by. I also noticed carrying my chains on the road side with the hook held out towards traffic a little caused them to leave me the MOST space. So, no vest & carry a big hook on a chain...they see that juuuuust fine (and give space). Hardhats are a ridiculous thing to wear working alone in an open field chaining/tarping a 40,000+ pound coil onto your deck. Nobody's working overhead. Nothing is going to fall off anything and hit you. Same with steel toe shoes. I'm a driver. If I'm at risk of something heavy enough to cause real damage to my toes being dropped on my toes, I'm probably somewhere I shouldn't be, doing something that I shouldn't be doing. The only people who enjoy donning all of that ridiculous PPE are the ones walking around in the immaculately clean gear (likely new), carrying a clipboard, typically having the word "safety" or "inspector" in their job title, and likes to say they're in "the trades" when talking to people who work for a living to hide the fact that they rarely have to do any real work (which is why their PPE is so immaculately clean & looking like new). 99.9% of safety happens between your ears. You could wear the clown suit to virtue-signal to everyone around you that you "care about safety"...or you can SHOW it by using your head & not creating hazards to yourself and others. Personally, I'd rather work around folks who care about ACTUAL safety than those who like to play dress-up thinking that it will keep them safe.
  2. They say tying a bandana around your face is as good as wearing one of these masks. I've probably got a dozen or more bandanas, so I'm not paying a crapload of money on masks that won't do any more. Now I occasionally work in a dusty environment, and when I do, I tie one on. When I do, I look like the year is 1865 and I just rode in off the dusty trail to rob the bank, stage, or commit some other heinous act...and that's not a look I care to have walking around town. I have not and will not wear a mask in public. Any establishment that wants my business won't say a damn thing to me about not having it on, either. The court tossed Putzker's executive decrees passed the expiration of his 1st, because under our state Constitution, ALL legislative powers belong to the legislature. The legislature years ago delegated "emergency powers" to the executive, realizing that sometimes things happen quickly that require swift action...but they limited those powers to 30 days, giving the legislature time to deliberate and address the issue. That time ran out in April. The "extensions" are illegal and unconstitutional, and therefore void.

This country was roaring along quite well until the left started injecting socialism & communism into the equation. "But...but...but..." Trump isn't a conservative, which is why a lot of conservatives hate him...despite him actually DOING the things they've been TALKING about for decades. He's more conservative than anyone in the democrat party, and more liberal than I and a lot of others on the right would prefer...but he gets $#!+ done. He told us what he wanted to do if elected, and by golly he's accomplished quite a bit of it...something that almost NEVER happens with more polished & groomed political-class politicians who pander for your vote & never once act on any of it once elected. I didn't vote for him in the 2016 primaries...and in the general election between the crook and the clown, I held my nose and chose the clown. Thank God he won, because we'd REALLY be in a mess right now if she had. After seeing what he has done, I absolutely voted for him in the primaries (even though it wasn't necessary) and look forward to doing so again in November. He's not perfect, but he's a hell of a lot better than Biden or anyone else the dems have to offer.

Commonm sense doesn't seem to be your strong suit, so let me lay it out for you: When limited number of tests are available, and you only test the worst cases, a small number of cases yields a large percentage of deaths. When more tests become available, and you start testing milder cases too, the number of cases goes up while the death rate declines. Then, when a surplus number of tests is available and anyone/everyone that wants to get tested can get one (even those w/o symptoms), the number of cases will climb even higher, while the death rate drops significantly. Turns out most people who are exposed to it, nothing happens. Their immune system works just like it does for any other virus, bacteria, germ, etc. Some people have a mild reaction. A few people have a serious fight with it, and a small fraction of a percent die. That's why the left-wing news is talking "number of cases" ...keeps the sheeple in a panic. No mention of death rates anymore, because that wouldn't fit the "orange man bad" narrative. Speaking of which, not only was the "study" showing HCQ "bad" recinded, other studies are now being reported which once again show HCQ to be beneficial...but those won't get the same press coverage because "orange man bad" had touted the drug as "promising" and, you know, orange man bad. Funny thing that scares the crap out of you libs is Obama needed 95% positive press to keep poll numbers as high as Trump has maintained with 95% negative press. If the press covered Obama like they have Trump, and Trump like they did Obama, what do you think the poll numbers would look like?
  6. Listening to Mark Levin on the way home tonight, and he was going on about in this day & age where you run the risk of being "cancelled" for something you might have done decades ago, how does the democrat party (and anyone who registers as a democrat) get a pass?
  7. If it's just for when you're working on another project, why not get a carport? Shouldn't require any permits, and some of them you can get with sides (only open on the ends). From there, it'd be easy enough to close off one end...then add a door on the other to complete it. Probably do all that for less than that tent garage, and will last a heck of a lot longer.

If I were a police chief, and my department's budget was cut by the mayor & city council, the cuts would as focused as possible. 1) reduced or eliminated patrols in the mayor's & council member's neighborhoods. 2) prioritizing calls to any/every OTHER section of town ahead of those in the mayor's/council members' neighborhoods. 3) extended response times for any callscoming from the mayor's/city council member's neighborhoods due to #1 & #2. I sure as hell wouldn't make cuts elsewhere until protective services for those making the cuts had been pretty much eliminated. Want police protection again? Fund the department. It really is that simple.

When the top1% of earners pay 39% of the income tax revenue collected, and the top 10% of earners pay 70%, common sense dictates that the groups that pay in the most will receive the biggest benefit from any taxcut. The bottom 50% paid in only 3% of the tax revenues collected. A "cut" doesn't really amount to much if you don't pay anything to begin with. As for your $3K, you could've had that withheld from your checks throughout the year. Comparing the interest-free loan you gave to the government (refund) last year vs having to write a check this year doesn't mean jack squat other than you and your employer miscalculated how much to withhold each check. Look on the actual tax forms...AGI vs Tax Due based upon that AGI. Did the tax due increase or decrease, and in what relation was that to the increase or decrease in your AGI? If your AGI went up but your tax due remained the same or declined, you got a tax cut...even if you had to write a check this year when you got a refund last year.   17. Funny, I was just at Menards, Orscheln, Buchheit, and Walmart yesterday picking up supplies for the weekend projects. Didn't wear a mask anywhere. Employees were only wearing masks at 2 of them. LOL...Hee Haw just started on the Circle network...that's a bit that wouldn't fly today... Speaking of TV, I quit watching the local channel's news at 9:00, opting instead for another channel's 10:00 news. Sorry, but I'm not watching people broadcast their news segments from their home in an effort to show "social distancing". Most of the time, they do so from a room with horrible accoustics and it sounds terrible. The other channel still has their anchors show up for work. I show up to work every day and make my rounds out there in the real world. I'm not going to watch someone who is cooped up in their home try to tell me what's going on out there in the world around us.

Wife is now required to wear a mask at Walmart while she's working...mandate coming from corporate. Was just at Menards, and they're all masked up, too. These big box stores are lowering themselves to satisfy the lowest common denominator. Probably swing into Lowe's later this week if I get off work early enough...we'll see. Got some projects coming up that I need to start thinking about & working through in my head...

They can recommend people stay at home, maintain social distance, etc...but they cannot enforce those recommendations under threat of fines or imprisonment. If you want to keep your shop open, keep it open. If you want to sell seeds & garden supplies, sell them...even in Michigan. When they try to enforce their unconstitutional edicts, sue their pants off. They don't have a leg to stand on.
  23. I've had to stop watching the local news @ 9:00 because they're all trying to show they are "social distancing" by broadcasting from their homes via webcam. So much acoustical noise that they sound like robots, and a casual-at-best wardrobe...may as well be in their pajammas. I'll wait 'til 10 and watch another channel, broadcasting from an actual studio, dressed professionally as they read from the teleprompter each night.
  24. Less than $1 for the box (bought wholesale in bulk). Shipping label is a few pennies, printed directly off your website. If an employee can only process 2 or 3 small orders per hour, they wouldn't work for me long. For an employee making $15/hr, you're talking $1.25 tops in labor...for a real slow-poke. Should be less than half of that. In other words, we're talking a whopping buck or two as reasonable...not the $20+ some of these places try to get away with. Had a friend a long time ago that sold computer stuff...used to brag how he'd make bank on shipping. Sell parts/service cheap. Supply shipping labels to customers to ship on his accounts. Gouge them on the "shipping" charges. That was 20 years ago...game doesn't seem to have changed much.
  25. Hell, I ordered some carburetor studs, a spacer, and a couple gaskets from Jegs...and they showed up in a box big enough for my boy (1 year old at the time) to climb into & lay down. Could've easily been sent USPS in a priority envelope for a fraction of the cost.
