Trump has a LOT to do before earning my support. The way he conducted himself on the campaign trail was an absolute disgrace. The man has supported the politicians who gave us Obamacare...and we're supposed to believe him that he now wants to repeal it? He has continually donated to the politicians responsible for the current illegal immigration clusterf---...but now he says he'll build a wall and control the border? Folks like Trump who have FUNDED the left's agenda are why we are where we are today. Trump, through his donations to liberal politicians, ENABLED them to whittle away at our freedom. Trump claims he doesn't like the regulatory burdens standing in the way of businesses...but HE PAID FOR THEM when he supported the politicians who pushed them through. Trump doesn't even know the meaning of the word "Conservative"...yet repeatedly claimed to be "the MOST Conservative" person in the race because that's what he thought people needed to hear in order to win their votes. The man will say ANYTHING necessary to win, without regard to the truth or how he actually feels about an issue. That being said, while Trump will not have my SUPPORT, he will most likely receive my vote. While Trump MIGHT be a disaster, Hillary would DEFINITELY be a disaster. So as it stands right now, I'll head to the polls in November with a clothes pin on my nose and vote for the gamble instead of the sure thing. Trump could change that with ACTIONS, but not with words. His words mean nothing.

The driver's side door (with the VIN tag) would be the one I'd be interested in....especially if it comes with the matching clean title for a CH that is a 1999 or older...first because it should have the kick vent (I don't have AC, so anything/everything I can do to encourage outside air to flow into and through the cab in the summer helps) and second to register the truck as a 1999 or older to avoid the ELD mandate. Even better if it is white with the tan interior, although that can be fixed easy enough with a can of paint and swapping the interior panel I've already got on this truck. Haven't had the lower half of it in for some time now...every once in a while the exterior door handle will quit working and I've got to fix it, and NOT having to remove that lower half of the panel makes it a 5 second fix once I crawl in through the passenger side to open the door.

Guess they are going to need 40 oz cups for their 24 oz "iced" beverages now...I always thought it was common knowledge that you were paying for whatever a cup of the advertised size would hold. If you don't like getting so much ice, simply request "easy ice" or "no ice" and you'll get more beverage. I would expect this case to be tossed pretty quick...but then again, you never know with the courts these days. The lawyer who agreed to take this case ought to be disbarred and flogged... http://www.foxnews.com/leisure/2016/05/01/starbucks-faces-5m-lawsuit-over-amount-ice-in-its-iced-beverages/

I could be in New Madrid, MO in about an hour. First quakes I felt were centered up in IN...5.4 or something like that. This one was closer in KY, though not quite as high on the scale.

So sitting here last night there was what sounded like an explosion which shook the whole house...thought for sure the Dyno Nobel plant up the road had a mishap, but nope...just an earthquake. Wasn't anything like the last ones around here that rumbled a little as the ground rolled...this was just a loud "BOOM" with a quick shudder. http://www.wsiltv.com/story/31858621/earthquake-near-illinois-kentucky-border Anyone else feel it?

...so first the Nationwide Insurance car takes out the Geico Insurance car...and now Pilot helps the Love's car go for a wild ride. Yeah, I know there were others involved in this last wreck...just think it's interesting how the sponsors that compete OFF the track are getting tangled up with each other ON the track.

Problem is, people just don't understand the process. We have NEVER elected a president. The electoral college has. The states determine who gets to be an elector, and those are the only votes that really matter. If nobody can get to the required 270 electoral vote majority (50% + 1), then the newly elected House of Representatives gets to select the president from the top 3 electoral vote-getters. You need a MAJORITY (50% + 1) to win. Period. The GOP nomination process is no different. You need a majority (50% + 1) to get the nomination. The delegates may be bound on the first ballot or two based upon the states sending them to convention...but if EVERY delegate was bound for EVERY ballot, there could be no resolution to the issue if nobody gets the majority. States who bound their delegates early in the cycle for candidates who are no longer in the race are among those likely to flip to another candidate on the 2nd and later ballots...it is the ONLY way to achieve a majority if nobody gets there on the first ballot. I guess the thing that irks me the most is that many states have "open" primaries, allowing democrats to "cross over" to vote in the GOP primary, and vice versa. A Democrat should not get to vote for who the Republicans nominate, and a Republican should have no say in who the Democrats nominate. As long as this practice continues to exist, the parties need to have a mechanism for overriding the will of opposition voters infiltrating during the primary process. The Democrats have their "super" delegates. The GOP has "unbound" delegates. What amuses me the most is that Trump's own kids couldn't vote for him in the primaries...because they aren't registered as Republicans. Question I have, is what ARE they registered as? That and WHY didn't they get that registration changed on time? Did they not expect their dad to still be in the race? I didn't expect Cruz to do well in NY simply because a lot of conservatives in the state are registered as Conservative, NOT Republican, and as such could not vote in the primary. Bernie had similar issues on the Democrat side, where many of his supporters are registered as Independent and therefore could not participate in the Democrat primary. It is easy to "win" when your opposition's supporters can't participate.

going to buy a new driver's seat
RowdyRebel replied to Hook n ladder 1's topic in Exterior, Cab, Accessories and Detailing
I was looking at the "Power Chief"... Perforated center panel...tan inside, brown outside, with dark brown accent stitching... No headrest, but dual arm rests... Add the vibrators in the back and cushion for a relaxing massage on those rough days... Heat & cool, 'cuz let's face it, in a truck with no AC, a cool seat would make the ride a little less sticky... Doesn't need a compressor or a swivel, and keep the controls on the left... Grand total? $3554.00...plus $249 shipping. Must be one hell of a seat, and perhaps if I ever win the lottery I can afford it. -

Well, if I hadn't just dropped $23K on a new motor and wasn't about to drop another $3K on tires, then the truck as a whole would have most of it's value tied up in the seats! Right now, I'm riding around on the mid-back/fixed-back non-air-ride jump seat from the passenger side, on an adapter plate I welded together out of some steel I had laying around, to mount it on the air-ride base from the Talladega 915 seat that broke. Basically it's 1 step above a milk crate and a pillow...so yes, a nice comfy seat is something I'd REALLY like to get...maybe then I wouldn't feel so damn old all of the time. -

Holy CRAP! Just looked them up & spec'd one I'd love to install in my truck...only $3600 + shipping. -
I was just waiting for the dust to settle to see this little guy standing there... ...maybe it was just too many Saturday mornings in front of the TV before getting kicked out of the house for the day. Sure glad I'm not a kid these days...cartoons just ain't what they used to be, and the neighbors call the cops if you're outside w/o your parents looking over your shoulder.

So I'm sitting in my truck getting loaded...sun shining, calm day. IF there is a breeze, it's ever so slight. Then out of NOWHERE the wind picks up...hard enough to rock the truck...and the dust blowing around was unreal...could hardly breathe! (guess that's what I get for sitting there with all the windows open). After about a minute, the wind dies down again and it's back to the nice, calm afternoon day. I look over to my left and this is what I saw: Ok...so I'm on my phone, so the video link is for youtube's mobile site. I usually go in and change the "m" in the address to a "www", but it automatically embedded the link before I could do that, so HOPEFULLY it works for everybody. Anyway, it took a while to grab my phone, open the camera app, and hit "record"...wish I'd caught more of it. Didn't even THINK about the dash cam until a few hours later. Probably wouldn't have had much (other than the wind & dust) because it came from one side right through me and away on the other side. Maybe I'm just getting old, but that was enough "excitement" for one day...

I thought it was fiberglass...but it ain't. Not sure if it's aluminum or steel...guessing aluminum because there ain't a hint of rust on it. Whatever it is, it's been on there since before I bought it, so whether it's OEM or not, I haven't a clue. Edit: Upon further inspection, it does appear to be fiberglass. Sure is a HEAVY S-O-B to NOT be made out of some sort of metal.

So I noticed my visor was a little wobbly...and upon further investigation, the sheet metal of the cab roof it's bolted to is tearing. So, visor is off (for now) and the hole is duct taped ('til I get a round tuit) pending a little fun with the welder to get 'er patched up right. Gotta weld up a crack on the door, too, right above the top hinge...but that's been that way for a while. If I can snag a door from a 99 or older CH (with a clean title, of course) then the door will be a moot point. Always wanted a kick vent (no AC) and with the pending e-log mandate, now is as good a time as any. Anyways, some pics:

The whole birther thing originated with Hillary's campaign...Trump just picked it up and ran with it. And as far as Cruz's eligibility is concerned, that has already been addressed by the courts and they have stated that he is, in fact, eligible.

Just because he's in the Senate doesn't mean he's an "insider". Cruz is the one who stood on the Senate floor filibustering spending bills funding Obamacare, illegal amnesty, etc. Cruz is the one who has argued (and won) cases at the Supreme Court. Cruz has a core set of principals that he does not compromise on...he had the balls to call for ending ethanol subsidies while campaigning IN IOWA. We KNOW where he stands on issues, and he doesn't try to hide from those positions. That is why Jimmy Carter endorsed Trump...called him "malleable"...capable of being easily changed or influenced. His position on any issue isn't what is right or wrong, but what he thinks is the popular opinion of the crowd he's in front of...such as calling for the EXPANSION of ethanol subsidies while campaigning in Iowa. He'll say anything to please whatever crowd he's talking to, even if he said the complete opposite the day before....and if you have the gall to call him out on the flip-flopping, he insults you and calls you a liar. Trump has shown a complete lack of class throughout the campaign, and this latest deal where his good buddy who runs a tabloid rag published a fabricated story to tarnish Cruz's reputation only illustrates that point. We've already had 7+ years with an undignified, classless individual occupying the white house. We don't need another.

It's only a matter of time until this app developer is dragged into court by the family of somebody killed in a wreck caused by some dumbass driving down the road making full use of this app...reading or typing about something they'll probably miss (or HIT) because they're looking at their phone instead of watching the road ahead of them. In this day and age where cities and states are banning the use of hand held devices left and right, it's amazing how many apps like this are DESIGNED to be used while driving.

99% of the time, I use my phone to "connect"...easier than having to be home and sitting in front of the PC. Used to be I'd click on my browser and a link to the page with threads I had posted in would be right there handy for me to check in on threads I had participated in with a second click. Then, with one more click, I could scroll through the new content. Maybe I'm just not smart enough to figure it out, because I ain't been able to get there with the new format.

For as much as the Trump supporters around here like him because he isn't a politician, he acts more like a politician than everybody else in the race COMBINED! Will say anything he thinks voters want to hear (i.e. increasing ethanol subsidies while campaigning in Iowa) and if anybody mentions positions or opinions he has expressed in the past, rather than dealing with the substance of the point being made, he resorts to character assassination claiming the person is a liar and a nasty guy...then threatens to sue. Nevermind the fact that there is video proof with audio from Trump's own lips to back up what that other candidate is saying, since it shows a position Trump has held in the past that won't play well with voters, the other person is a liar for even bringing it up. I'm sorry, but the current occupant-in-chief was elected based upon his "hope and change" BS. I want substance. He never answers "HOW" he's going to make America great again, we're just supposed to accept that he'll do it. Now if you were hiring an employee, would you want to know what they intended to do and how they planned to do it? Or would you be satisfied with them answering every attempt to extract details by saying "I'm awesome. I'm the best. I'll get it done because I get things done. Those other guys are losers because they aren't me." Yet that is exactly what Trump is doing. Economic policy? "Get a bunch of really smart people together and get it done.". Foreign policy? "Get a bunch of really smart people together and get it done.". Doesn't matter what the question is, it's the same answer, because he doesn't have a clue. Give us SOMETHING! Name some of these "really smart people" you'd reach out to so we could examine THEIR qualifications on the subject matter. Perhaps an idea or two of your own how you'll "Make America great again". Then again, this country seems to be full of idiots who will vote for anybody who promises to give them enough free $#!+...and Trump certainly has tapped into that crowd. Health insurance for everybody. Bigger ethanol subsidies. Tax cuts. Trade wars. Building a wall. Lots of talk, but not much thought about the practical application of those policies or the overall affect. Good intentions don't mean squat unless you're a Democrat. As a Republican, results matter. Trump talks big, but I doubt he means a word of it. His positions today contradict where he stood prior to his candidacy, and once the campaign is over, who knows where his priorities will lie. That is what has me worried. The next president is likely going to be appointing 2-3 (or more) justices to the Supreme Court. Can Trump be trusted to pick justices who read the Constitution and decide cases based upon what it says? Or will they decide cases based upon how they feel and then "interpret" the Constitution however they need to in order to justify their decision? We've already got far too many of the latter, and just lost one of the former. The Supreme Court is THE biggest issue this election.

Consequences? Failing to obey a rail crossing signal is a 60 day DQ for a 1st offense. Two others he could be dinged with are failing to slow and check that tracks are clear of an approaching train, as well as failing to stop if the tracks are not clear. 2nd conviction means a 120 day DQ, and 3rd comes with a much longer DQ (can't remember off the top of my head, and can't see that column on my phone). The FMCSA takes rail crossing violations VERY seriously, and so he's going to be out of work for AT LEAST 2 months if he gets off lucky and only gets the one citation.

...but as for the "outsourcing" problem, it always pisses me off at election time when people ask politicians "What are YOU going to do to stop outsourcing?" Well, as long as there is a demand for CHEAP products made overseas, corporations will continue to use cheap foreign labor. When people start saying "I'm not going to pay $160 for that pair of boots made in China when I can buy this other pair of boots that were made here in America for $200", then companies will start making things here in America. If you want to buy a car, make sure the 1st number in the VIN is a 1. If it isn't, don't buy it. If there isn't a market for foreign-made vehicles, manufacturers will build them here. There really isn't anything a politician can do, because if you impose a tax on products made elsewhere and imported here, those countries will impose a tax on our stuff we are trying to export. We the people need to actively LOOK for products "made in the USA" and buy them whenever we have that option instead of "saving" a few bucks on something made in some 3rd world sweat shop that probably won't last half as long anyway. If the market demands "cheap", companies will provide it. If the market demands "made in USA", again, companies will provide it. When government attempts to artificially control the market by penalizing corporations when they try to satisfy market demands, we run into problems. Look for that "made in USA" indication on the products you buy, and buy American made products whenever possible. THAT is the best way to slow/stop the outsourcing of jobs. Need a new air conditioner? Make sure the HVAC company doing the installation knows you want a unit made in the USA. If enough people refuse to buy mexican-made units, suddenly Carrier's market share dries up and they rethink their decision as their "made in USA" competition starts replacing units Carrier might have otherwise sold. Money talks, and EVERY dollar you spend sends a message. Do you want "CHEAP"? Or do you want jobs in America?

I missed the first half of last night's debate...Reince Priebus has got to go. I mean seriously, why would you schedule a debate...in SOUTH CAROLINA of all places...DURING a Nascar race?
