Considering my frame is only 1/4", it isn't beyond the scope of reality that the 1/4" wall tubing would suffice. You just have to make sure the strength of the alloy is going to be up to the job. In theory, it could be 1/2 as strong as the frame steel and still be more than strong enough because it is doubled up (square tube as opposed to C channel) and it ONLY supports the weight carried by the 5th wheel, not all of the stresses the frame rail sees. 1/2" wall might be overkill. So just how much are you trying to raise the 5th wheel?

...OK, so it is 2015 now. I want my hoverboard and my flying car!

Wife was mad when she got home last night (which really isn't anything new...). Apparently, her sister informed her of the incident, and she says I need to be more respectful and nicer to people. I told her I give what I receive...if he didn't want to be cussed at, he should've used the ash tray in the truck instead of flicking it into my driveway. I'm not going to be all "yes sir, how can I be of assistance?" to somebody who just rolled up onto MY property like they own the place and flicked a damn cigarette out the window into the driveway. If you want respect, show it. If you want to be an ass, I'll show you the meaning of the word. We eventually agreed to disagree...spit in my face and you'll be swallowing your teeth in pretty short order. She'd want me to be polite and respectful instead...which just ain't gonna happen.

Riding a motorcycle and got hit by a butt flicked out of the car ahead. Needless to say, they lost the mirror which they weren't using anyway. That was many years ago, and remains one of my pet peeves.

LMFAO! The school just called the sister-in-law. Apparently, the inconsiderate & disrespectful MFer didn't appreciate being cussed out and reported the incident. I wish I would've known it was the school calling, because I would have told them that if this guy doesn't want to be cussed out, he should refrain from littering in people's yards and use the damn ash tray in his truck. That is WHY it is there...

So I'm sitting in my truck in the driveway today after getting home from work, just gathering up my stuff to carry inside when this pickup truck pulls into the driveway. First thing the driver does? Flick a cigarette out his window into my driveway. Apparently, a pissed off redneck standing 6'2" and weighing in a touch over 200 pounds shouting "That ain't your f---ing trash can, motherf---er!" as he races towards you makes a person a little forgetful, as he didn't remember flicking that butt (which was still smoldering next to his back tire) out the window. I was just about to reach into his truck to drag his ass out through the window to SHOW him when he asked me if my niece & nephew live there...apparently, he's with the school and schools these days deliver food & toys to student's homes at Christmas. Seems to me that the money would be better spent actually TEACHING things like reading, riting, & rithmatic...along with history, science, etc. Tax dollars at work, I guess. I had to go inside & get the sister-in-law and her husband to take the stuff from the guy 'cuz it just feels wrong taking stuff like that. I work hard for what I've got...never asked for any handouts. They are here because they didn't have heat, electricity, or water in their home (didn't pay their bills) and my wife was worried the state would take the kids from her sister if anybody called DCS on them. Crowded? Yeah...but we get by. They are both working (and paying rent)...and when the school year is over, we're moving them down to the wife's mom's house. If it WEREN'T for the kids, the sister-in-law and her husband could've stayed where they were. I told 'em when we moved them in that "The house next door has no heat, no electricity, and no water. Don't pay your share of the bills, and I'll put your bed over there to remind you what your situation was like before you got here." The kids would stay here with me & the wife, though...where it is warm, running water, and we've got electricity. ...But I digress. I couldn't believe the total lack of concern the guy had about pitching that cigarette butt out the window onto my property. Probably does it all of the time without giving it a second thought, and then wonders WHY nobody likes smokers and smoking bans are popping up all over the place. Kinda like the trucker who leaves his pee bottles and trash bags in the parking lot and wonders why nobody wants trucks parked on their property anymore. Boils down to respect. Have respect for other people's property, and they are more likely to allow you to continue using it. Show disrespect and you're likely to get drug out through the window and your nose rubbed in whatever it was you decided to leave behind.

'stead of shopping @ Sears, try Home Depot (Husky) or Lowe's (Kobalt). Both have the same lifetime warranty...just take it back and they supposedly exchange it out just like Sears. Don't know for sure, as I've never actually broke a Kobalt or Husky tool despite abusing them in the same manner I do anything Craftsman has ever put out. Pretty sure (but don't quote me) they are still made in the good ol' US of A, too. Be a shame for a long-time family tradition to end because Sears sold out to Kmart and took on their "cheap crap" business model. Better to change the brand tool than the country they are made in...

Somebody needs to do a Buffalo remix of this old Johnny Cash song... http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=O2HrBcGvGYg "How deep's the snow, there, momma? 5 feet high & rising..."

I'm still waiting for summer to arrive and here it is winter again! What ever happened to global warming? We could use some of that around here...

Another one for the "WTF is this world coming to" file...

Woman's pitbulls enter the neighbor's yard and attack the neighbor's dog. She gets hurt stopping her own dogs attack in the neighbor's yard. She then sues the neighbor for not properly securing HIS dog for the injuries she received. -

I've got an '86 Ranger (4-banger/5-speed) that was driven hard & put away wet for nearly 20 years. Cracked the head pulling a trailer that weighed more EMPTY than that little truck was rated to pull loaded...and I had it LO-HO-HO-HOADED! 4 trips between the house I was renting and a storage unit while I was shopping for this house. Kept running it 'til I decided to change the head gasket (thought that was the problem) and found the crack when I pulled the head. Never did get around to putting it back together...have a 289 from a '66 Mustang I'd like to squeeze in there. I've also got a '92 Ranger (177ci V6/5-speed) that I drive like I stole it. STILL gets 25mpg on a bad day. Usually I tool around in the '96 F250 (460ci V8/5-speed) just because I can. Big enough to tow anything (even though I've never been scared to do it in either Ranger) and that '86 has probably carried more "heavy" loads in the bed than the F250. That isn't saying I haven't hauled loads in the F250...just that we (my dad owned the '86 before I did) used to get pretty stupid with it. As long as the bed could still hold more and the bumper wasn't digging into the ground (dragging was OK) we'd keep loading it. Then I put heavier springs on it...and some over-shock helpers...and some more helpers between the frame & axle. That "little" truck had more than 4000# of spring under the rear by the time I cracked the head.

There is a vent between where the clog was and the sink. I swear whoever built this house did a crappy job. Not very well...nothing makes sense on how or why they did anything. Heck, in the 2nd bathroom the sink wasn't getting hot water. Tub had it, just not the sink. When I crawled under there to try to figure it out, BOTH lines to the sink were tapped into the SAME cold water line to the tub, albeit about 10' apart on the line. That was an easy enough fix, though. Other thing that drives me nuts here is other than where I've got around to adding them, nothing in the house had a shut-off valve. ANY plumbing work on the supply side of the system requires turning off the water at the meter.
-
BTW, the clog was right where the 1-1/2" pipe coming down from the sink opens up into a 2" run across the width of the house (27') before bending down again to join into the main line out. In other words, when the pipe opens, the velocity of the water slows and allows sediment to settle...and over time that builds up. That's the theory I'm going with, anyway...

I think it was greatly restricted, but still flowing...'til the tater peelings got sent through the disposal by the wife's aunt on Thursday. SHOULD be good to go for a while now, and in about 20 minutes or so we'll check to see if the glue joints are leaking...and if they aren't, call it a night.
-
The clog was probably 18-24" long, and it's hard & crusty in places, so the wife is bringing home a new 10' piece of PVC to replace it. Then we can use the kitchen sink again.
-
...so you'd THINK if I turned on the water, it'd flow out the drain pipe into the crawl space where I had cut it, right? WRONG! Sink filled up again. So I went back down there with the saw & cut the line over by the wall where it comes down from up above. Couldn't have placed the cut better...right through the clog, with about an inch of it still blocking the drain. It was enough that the water in the sink didn't push it out until I was done cutting and out of the way...then it puked and drained the sink.
-
Kitchen sink quit draining...been messing with it since Thursday night. Run the snake 25' through the line, and the sink still fills up. Finally had enough & made a cut 14' from the sink...ran the snake backwards all of the way up into the sink. Wrapped about a dozen short pieces of bailing wire around the end of the snake to make a wire brush and then pulled it through the line. Removed a pretty sizable glob of goo...

I've always preferred an actual frame under the body of a vehicle...Explorers USED to be that way, but haven't really followed their evolution through the years. If they are in fact unibody, that would explain why U-Haul WILL NOT rent you a trailer of ANY size to pull behind them...that and the firestone/blowout/rollover issue several years back.

Problem with a light-weight hammer is that it just doesn't drive the nails with as much force. What good does it do to have an easier hammer to swing if you have to swing it twice as many times? Just don't make any sense to me...ESPECIALLY at 3 to 4 times the price of a "normal" hammer.

I had a pair of Rocky boots...fit GREAT! Wore the all of the time for a year or two until the seams started splitting. Bought another pair...same style, size, model number, etc...loose and sloppy on my foot and really uncomfortable. They still look new 'cuz I quit wearing 'em and bought some other boots that fit better. I guess Rocky changed their sizing when they moved their manufacturing elsewhere.

Even the farmer's co-op has ethanol-free gas. I guess it's good enough to demand government subsidies to put money into their pockets, and good enough to force on the rest of us...but they don't want to have to use it themselves. Hypocrites.

Tall tree & a short rope...but not around his neck...and a couple ball bats. String him up by his nuts & let the kids play piñata 'til he's assumed room temperature.

I guess people these days need government intervention in all aspects of their life...too chicken$#!t to solve problems on their own, like the losers who call 911 because McDonald's is out of chicken nuggets. http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=GfKhWzNXdEw
