  1. Today's generation wouldn't have the stomach for an operation like that. They certainly earned their "Greatest Generation" moniker.
  2. While I love donuts as much as anyone, let's not let it overshadow the task so many in my grandparents' generation began today against overwhelming odds and at great cost. The price of freedom is high...
  3. ...then the interstates can look like Talladega or Daytona with everybody all bunched up running together at the same speed. That way, EVERY wreck has the potential to be th "big one"... It'll be a cold day in Hell before I "limit" my truck below the posted speed limit on the roads I run on. That goes for e-logs, too. I don't care who you are, you ain't gonna tell me I have to drive past a store I need to buy something at in order to make it home in the allotted time only to get into my pickup truck and drive back into town to go to that store I just drove past. And I don't give a flying rats rear end about that damn clock, I'm not shutting down 10 miles from home because I had to wait 20 minutes for the loader to finish his lunch before he could load me. I'm going home.
  4. If'n ya done spent the money on it, ya may as well drink it. Only thing worse than bad beer is wasted beer...
  5. While I don't typically like fruit in my beer, I LOVE ruby red grapefruit, and Shiner Bock is one of my favorite beers, so when I saw this in the store, I figured I'd give it a try. I wasn't too thrilled with it at first taste...but half way through the 6-pack it's getting better. It is a time saver, for sure...combining my morning grapefruit with my truck-wrenching & Nascar watching beverage of choice.
  6. I'm just waiting for the county to see it & pass another BS ordinance prohibiting something I'm doing on my own damn piece of land. I'll be happy when I find a buyer for this place...got 2 houses, buy 1 get 1 free. Then we're moving somewhere better...with more land & less government intrusion.
  7. ...only has 1 HP, but it never runs outta gas.
  8. Adam Carolla had an interesting (and very true) take on things...in a Fox News interview in regards to his new book: "FOX411: Are you a registered voter? Carolla: I am. I'm an Independent. FOX411: Do you think both sides are idiots? Carolla: For the most part. They're both in the game of trying to figure out what the idiots want and are trying to give it to them, which is not what they should be doing. It's like a school teacher with 30 kids in the class. 'Who wants to study the constitution?' Everyone says boo and then the next teacher says, 'Who wants to go outside and eat peanut butter cups?' Everyone goes yeah! Who's going to win the election? Not the one who says buckle down and do your homework. And by the way when they're running they say, 'Hey you don't want to elect the guy who makes you sit inside and read all day.' That's kind of what this thing is turning into which is scary. Also we end up taking issues and talking about them and we never get to the real stuff. California is I don't know, 49th in education or something insane like that but all we do is talk about secondhand smoke. The biggest problem I see is ignoring the big problem and focusing on the stuff that distracts us.". http://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/2014/05/27/adam-carolla-im-not-racist-kids-are-babied-politicians-pander/
  9. If "Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed,"...and if the governed have essentially stripped away any doubt as to whether or not the government has been given consent to redefine marriage (or any other "controversial" issue) through passage of a Constitutional Amendment, where then do the courts (a branch of government) get the idea that they somehow have the power to act against (and therefore without) the consent of the governed?
  10. ...never really wanted to have to DO it. I'm just glad I've got Budd wheels on the truck so I could swap things around, dump off the load, and get myself to a tire shop instead of having to pay 2-3 times as much for a tire (which is already stupidly expensive) to be brought out to me. Not exactly the "welcome back" I was hoping for, but it is what it is. Funny thing is that another O/O had just warned me about the sharp rocks maybe 1/4 mile before I heard the air escaping from my steer tire.
  11. Most important, though, the new software that goes with that other stuff...
  12. ...goes pretty good with my first "earned" buckle...
  13. ...kinda fancy for a Redneck, but it looks pretty slick!
  14. Guess this was the Lone Star package we never saw up north..."Texas...Even our minivans are trucks!"

  17. Oops...
  18. Ya see, I keep my voice mail box full so I don't have to worry about folks leaving messages without names or numbers.
  19. I always used Firefox on my PC...but after that BS where they forced out their co-founder/CEO due to his past pro-marriage (and entirely unrelated to the business) political donations, I won't be downloading another Mozilla product any time soon.
  20. I've got a gold dog on my '01...Mack engine/trans/rears, but air ride suspension.
  21. From this morning's e-mail in-box, Rural King trying to sell me stuff I already have. I like their style, though...none of that left-wing/RINO "government knows best" BS.

  22. Oil & gas might be a possibility considering the time frame this all began...20 years ago. Why would THIS administration (which has done everything in its power to make domestic energy production as cost-prohibitive as possible...why would THEY escalate matters to benefit "big oil"? A solar or wind farm? That I could see. This administration doesn't seem eager to promote or endorse the extraction or use of fossil fuels. Like I said, if his family has been grazing cattle on the land since the 1870's like he says, who did his father, grandfather, great grandfather, etc. pay for the rights to use the land? If they paid the state (because he claims it is state land), then the feds have no business there. If prior generations made payments to the federal government, then that is who he also needs to pay. Unless he holds the deed to the property, it isn't "his land", and he needs to pay whoever DOES hold the deed to the land for the right to graze his cattle there. If the federal government (BLM, USFS, NPS, etc.) bought the land from the state, they hold the deed to the property and they have the legal right to prohibit him from grazing the cattle on THEIR land, ESPECIALLY if the guy hasn't paid them for the use of THEIR land. It would be like your neighbor wanting to use your pool in your back yard, so he goes down to city hall and pays the city $10 (because your property happens to be inside the city limits) and thinking that gives him the right to enter your property and swim in your pool. Like I said before, I don't know WHO owns the land...only that the guy says he doesn't, the feds can't, and he is willing to pay the county (but not the feds).
  23. Hannity had the old man on the radio today, and The Kelly File is doing a story on it now. The guy's family has been grazing that land since the 1870's...trying to figure out exactly what went wrong 20 years ago is more than I've got time for. Seems the guy doesn't want to pay the Feds for grazing his cattle on BLM land, but is more than willing to pay the county or the state. So who did his father, grandfather, and every previous generation pay for the ability to graze their cattle on that land? There is something about turtles, too...allegedly "endangered" yet so densely populated that the feds are euthanizing them to control the population. Turtles which for hundreds of years have been coexisting with the cattle, so why change things up now? I doubt the cows give a rip whether there are turtles there or not, and since cows don't eat turtles, I doubt the turtles care whether or not the cows are around. The whole thing just sounds like a huge misunderstanding being escalated to dangerous levels. What it could turn into is VERY dangerous. Will federal agents use deadly force against ordinary citizens? Will ordinary citizens return fire when that happens? Is it going to be another Waco? Or will it be more like the North Bridge? I guess we'll find out soon enough...
  24. One could argue either way on that point. While it is true that members of BOTH major parties seem to always act in favor of bigger government and less individual liberty, the likelihood of finding a person who favors SMALLER government and MORE individual liberty (and the personal responsibilities that go along with exercising those liberties) is far greater in the GOP...damn near non-existent in the DNC. It may be the "lesser of 2 evils" in some elections, but the more guys like Ted Cruz that find their way into congress, the better chance we have of actually seeing things improve. Guys willing to stand up for the Constitution and shut things down even when their party leaders are against them and just want to go with the flow THIS time...and fight for our values NEXT time around. Next time never comes. If the GOP leadership had a backbone, the differences in the parties would be clear. Less John McCain, more Rand Paul. Less Mitch McConnell, more Mike Lee. Less John Boehner, more Louis Gohmert.
  25. Wow...105 views and NOBODY had a comment about a 9 MONTH old infant being charged with attempted murder and threatening police...or the judge who didn't immediately throw the case out and sanction the dumbass cops and prosecutors who are wasting his time with such ridiculous charges...
