Hey, now...no spoilers allowed! I've got parts 1 & 2 on DVD, but haven't got around to watching 'em yet...

If the money allotted (since we haven't actually had a budget since FY09) to an agency was $1000 last year, and if the agency was supposed to see an 8% rate of growth from year to year in the baseline, they were expecting to receive $1080 this year. The sequester is knocking 2% off the agency's allotment for the year. So, they are only going to have $1058 this year instead of the $1080 they were expecting....which is still more than the $1000 they had last year. The sequester hasn't actually made any cuts....only reductions in the rate of growth. Any "shut downs" or "furloughs" as a result are only being done as a result of political gamesmanship by the politicians in charge at the expense of the workers. It's all bullshit. We are running a deficit of over $1 TRILLION per year. That is the amount the budget needs to be cut.

Would've cost me a hell of a lot more than $500....

I figured he would've been around to fill us in on the proceedings by now......maybe he said too much & got sent to the clink?

The DieHard battery in my '92 Ranger is the same one that was in it when I bought it in August '06. The battery that was in my F250 died & I needed a new one on my way out of town for a buddy's wedding....Bumper to Bumper was open....they sell Exide batteries. The first one lasted 6 months. The second, I got 8 months out of it. The third one was another 6 months. I decided that although Bumper to Bumper would give me another free battery in exchange, I'd rather spend the money on a DieHard at Sears. 3 years later, it is still going strong. In the Mack, the batteries that were in it when I bought it died. I found the best price and ended up with Continental brand batteries. Less than a year and one had a catastrophic failure....sounded like a shotgun going off. Luckily, I was able to disconnect the blown up battery and run the rest of the day on just 2. Mack delivered some Bulldog brand batteries to the house for me and I put 'em in when I got home. 14 months later, they started quitting. When the first one died, I disconnected it and ordered some DieHard batteries from Sears. 2 weeks later, the other two died...and Sears STILL didn't have my new batteries in....so I cancelled the order and got 3 more batteries from a different Mack dealer. These are Exides. Not happy about it, but I needed them and couldn't keep waiting on Sears to come through. Sure, DieHard batteries are not going to be the cheapest you'll find....but they seem to keep working for a while.

English Bulldogs are rather useless. I had been wanting an American Bulldog....but they are expensive, and this guy needed a good home...

...if I didn't know any better, I'd swear it was a government operation.

I'd have to question your source for that info. Double what you are pulling out? I doubt you'll have much luck finding a 160,000 pound rated strap. All the strap has to do is overcome the resistance. We used to pull-start 80,000 pound trucks with an F350 wrecker a cheap 10,000 pound strap if the truck had it's own air to release the brakes and was sitting on somewhat level ground. If you're buried up to the hubs, it'll take a little stronger of a strap...but still nowhere near double the weight. Heck, you could pick the damn truck straight up off the ground with a strap rated to it's weight...why would it need more than that to pull it?

It is all hype. 100% unadulterated bullshit being spread by the media and the democrats. There aren't going to be any TRUE cuts...only reductions in the rate of growth. Only in government can an agency receive MORE money when compared to the previous year and still call it a CUT because it wasn't as large of an increase as they were expecting....but that's baseline budgeting at its finest. Nothing is being cut. It just isn't going to grow as quickly as it would have if not for the "fiscal cliff" fiasco.

No prob. 'Bout the only people worse than a thief in my book are a child molester & crooked cops. Letting them think they got away with it only encourages the behavior....gotta make sure they know it is NOT acceptable....and that there are SERIOUS consequences to those sorts of activities.

Whenever I take on a job like that, I always end up with extra parts. I figure that means I did good, 'cuz a lesser skilled put'er-togetherer wouldda needed 'em all.

OK...this damn thing is starting to piss me off. First, it wasn't letting me close out the damn quote from the news article so the whole damn post looked like it was quoted....then it wasn't showing the video....then it was ONLY showing the video.....was about 2 seconds from blowing a f'ing hole through the damn computer when it finally worked.... Oh well... ..but yeah, she's been in the news an awful lot lately....and none of it was very good.

Yup...always a positive message.

Good for them. Just think how much better off the auto industry (and the nation as a whole) if they would have stood up to Calif***ya's attempts to mandate stricter standards for that single state. If the auto makers had said "Fine. We just won't offer our cars for sale in your state," they'd either be dealing with a bunch of old rattletraps running around the state as no new cars could be imported....or else they would have backed off and stuck with the nationwide standards. If NY doesn't want the gun manufacturers in the state (and the jobs & tax revenue they provide), then they SHOULD move their operations to a more politically friendly environment. If they can also reduce their tax liability in the process by selecting a state with lower taxes...or their production costs by selecting an area with a lower cost of living....then more power to them.

The problem I have is that our founding documents clearly establish the reason for the government to exist....to secure the God-given, unalienable rights of the people....Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness. Now each and every person has the right (and the liberty) to PURSUE their own happiness. That is how it is SUPPOSED to be, anyway. If you want to find happiness, you've got to get off your butt and put forth the effort....the pursuit. For some, that pursuit pays off...but there is no guarantee that it will. You do not have the right to BE happy...only to PURSUE happiness. Just because it happens to elude you does not necessarily imply that somebody else infringed upon any of your rights. Now you take somebody who has achieved success. They made the effort to educate themselves....developed skills....and then used their talents and abilities to produce something of value. When that product or service is sold to somebody who wants or needs it, it essentially converts the fruits of their labor into a monetary value. So what portion of the fruits of your labor is your neighbor entitled to? Involuntary servitude was abolished by the 13th Amendment...so why should I be forced to hand what I worked hard to earn over to somebody else who refuses to put forth ANY effort to improve their own station in life? That infringes upon my liberty to choose what I do with the fruits of my labor, as well as placing a HUGE roadblock ahead of me in my pursuit of happiness. Remember, Government was instituted among men to SECURE the unalienable rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness...NOT to create roadblocks and hinder the rights of the people. It should not be the place of government to create any "safety nets" in society. The left commonly quotes the Bible to justify their handouts to the lazy and those unwilling to work...however, they are misguided. We should all help our neighbors because we WANT to help them....not because there is a gun to our head FORCING us to help. If they truly believed in helping those less fortunate, they would donate more of their own money to charitable organizations....not raise my taxes to support a government takeover of what SHOULD be handled by those charitable organizations. I fail to see any morality, kindness or generosity when they are giving away other people's money...only greed for the power it brings back to them.

...sounds like the President during the attack on our embasy in Benghazi. It'd be nice if HE'D resign, but somehow I just don't see that happening. ...which is why I carry my own chain in my side box. 20' long 3/8" G70 chain. I've done the whole "cross your fingers & pray" while trying to use whatever we could find that MIGHT be strong enough. Even my chain, though, isn't as heavy as it SHOULD be. I've already bent a link or two on it pulling people out...
