  2. Yea the firsr old B was Yellow an Ex Reliable wrecking out of winfield IL the other B was a green ex celli trucking The RS was baby blue an ex owner op
  3. I have a mag with a write up in it how to service the old shocks/ I will see If i can find it.I think it had contact numbers to source old parts? Trent
  4. an old Jack Gray truck. A friend was working for them about 8 years ago? nice find Rob!!
  5. Great vid. We started pulling in the street semi class about 2 years ago. Check out some of the vids on you tube under my board name.
  6. Brad I have one for you but it may need work/ it was out of an 89 R model? Its at the yard and its yours if you want to mess with it. it needs an output shaft and misc parts. its still in one pice but... call me for details. Trent
  7. be carfull with leaking batterys. I just had one blow up on me last week from just a very week spark. Luckly I had gloves and sunglasses on. Always herd about them exploding but never had one do it on me. If its leaking they may be overcharging and or have a bad ground somewhere? If they still have the date on them check for the warrenty. just be carefull and dont stand over it when working on a bad one.
  8. Any of those 3 sencers will trigger the shutdown light. If you have good oil press, proper water level and water temps are normal and the light is still on, one of the sencors might be bad? Most times I find that after the hot summer with an older mack that has no overflow coolant tank, the water level is a little low and needs half a gallon. just my .02 Trent
  9. empty the fuel tanremove the fuel inlet line and put in a bucket with fresh fuel replace the fuel filter and add some ATF oil in the filter housing check the air cleaner for dirt and bees nest etc.. crank the engine for a few sec with the throttel stop out. if it spins good and free. push the throttel stop in and crank untill it fires. The injection pump and injectors can be found fairly easy so if its bad you will find out fairly quickly when you spin it over. Both macks that I have started after sitting for a few years fired right up after I added fresh fuel and filters Good luck~
  10. I would find a good pump guy. We took our 237 pump and had them tune it to give max fuel flow and more RPMs. You will be very suprised what a stock pump will do when opend up all the way!!! Im not sure what a stock 237 gets for boost but ours was pushing 2x more (30lbs) after we had the pump turned all the way up. Throttel responce is like a blown chevy v8 LOL! I would think the stock E9 turbo would keep up with max fuel from a turned up stock pump. so try the pump first If you want more fuel than the stock pump can push you will need to get diffrent barrels and misc pump internals. Thats when the big money is spent. Our inline pump cost us about $350 to be turned up all the way on a bench tester. After you go above stock pump work the turbo and injectors are next. the more fuel you inject the more air you will need to burn it.
  11. 10-4 on that !
  12. bent forks or shift rails? can you pull the top cover to inspect it?
  13. sounds like you have a maxidyne diesel ENDTB675 EN= Engine D=diesel T= turbocharged B=? 675 = code for the engine model,in your case its a maxidyne. its a high torq rise engine. its a good strong little engine if maintained right.
  14. Great job Barry! looks like it was a success despite the rain. It hasend stoped raining here for 3 days so dont feel too bad!! The titan is a monster next to that R model. When I saw it the titan in Vegas it was hard to compare its size as there was not another truck next to it. I knew it was big but...wow! look how the top of the engine is in comparison to the top of the cowl! Whats the word on the titan as far as units already sold/built. Is the damand for them increasing even with hard times whats the cost on a day cab unit?
  15. Lund makes 2 styles of fiberglass visors for the R model. Im not aware of any name brand companys that make stainless visors. The Guys from down uneder may have leads for metal visors Trent
  16. nice looking B you have there Hot Rod. I like your color combo it got that tuff look to it with the visor and all. thanks for those pics werkhorse!
  17. very impressive. Right truck for the job!
  18. looking good Do you run up Rt 12 near Wacounda IL? I think I have seen that R model a bunch of times up near me? I would Touch up those fuel tanks and paint the rear rims and it will look like a show truck! Trent
  19. Well im shure most of us here have more opinions on the B and R models as they have been around longer. I have Never heard anything bad about the CL. I always thought of them as "top dogs of the 90s C models" I have never driven or wrenched on one so cant give any advice. I do know the CH models were good trucks if you maintained them. Biggest complaint I hear about the late 90s macks were with the electroincs. is yours a computer controled engine? Your truck looks as if its got some nice heavy specs. It should serve you very well with all the tried and proven mack components
  20. LOOKING GOOD BARRY! TRENT
  21. there are lots of vairables to how long an engine can go before a rebuild but it seams that most guys with newer trucks are getting up into the 700k range before a complet inframe. some times bearings and other maintence is needed before a inframe. In the end it all depends on the conditions the truck was run in and the way it was taken care of. some over the road guys go untill 1 million miles + before for an inframe
  22. Most common place for the puff limiter is tapped into the top of the intake manafold. there will be 2 air lines going to it. a quick test to see if it is working correctly is to set the yellow parking brake and snap the throttle to the floor. if should throw a thick black cloud... then release the brake and snap the throttle it should have less smoke if the puff is working. if you locate the puff pinch off one of the lines and it will throw smoke evertime you shift. the down side of unhooking the puff is that the excess fuel between shifts can work its way into the oil pan and delute the oil. Might try making shure the throttle linkage is alowing the pump to go to full fuel? Trent
  23. most 2v and 4v macks I have driven idle @ 25-30 psi hot and 50-60psi @ 2100 Is the oil fresh or does it have high milage on it? any fuel in the oil? does the oil press rise quickly off idle (100 rpm off idle?) IMO 18 psi sounds a little low but nothing to be alarmed about as long as it holds steady.
  24. well this is just plane shit.. takeing a local USA place of history and trashing it in the night as to think that no one wuld care. 3P Im sorry to hear of you situation and please do share this with the rest of the diehards at your location that we all here (I think I can speak for most) dont like the out look volvo is giving you and the Mack brand. Best of luck to you. Trent
  25. from what I hear the low RPM engines were an attempt to get better MPG. the whole power band was lowered a few hundreed RPM. I see alot of these trucks with 2060 2070 2080 transmissions. I belive the internals of both the low and normal RPM engines are the same. If anything mechanical and pump timing and possibly the cam may be a little diffrent?? Regardless to get 2100 RPM you simply have the pump reworked to a standard maxidyne spec. you will still have plenty good low RPM torqe and have about a 10 MPH faster top end. the only down side when the pump is reworked for more RPMS and normal torqe range is that the gearing of the truck will now put the RPMs a little low for pulling in top gear at 55MPH it will sometimes feel that its lugging when at 1400RPM. IMO the normal RPM Maxidynes seam to like 1800 for highway cruising. Trent
