  1. well this is just plane shit.. takeing a local USA place of history and trashing it in the night as to think that no one wuld care. 3P Im sorry to hear of you situation and please do share this with the rest of the diehards at your location that we all here (I think I can speak for most) dont like the out look volvo is giving you and the Mack brand. Best of luck to you. Trent
  2. from what I hear the low RPM engines were an attempt to get better MPG. the whole power band was lowered a few hundreed RPM. I see alot of these trucks with 2060 2070 2080 transmissions. I belive the internals of both the low and normal RPM engines are the same. If anything mechanical and pump timing and possibly the cam may be a little diffrent?? Regardless to get 2100 RPM you simply have the pump reworked to a standard maxidyne spec. you will still have plenty good low RPM torqe and have about a 10 MPH faster top end. the only down side when the pump is reworked for more RPMS and normal torqe range is that the gearing of the truck will now put the RPMs a little low for pulling in top gear at 55MPH it will sometimes feel that its lugging when at 1400RPM. IMO the normal RPM Maxidynes seam to like 1800 for highway cruising. Trent
  3. nice pics! I liked the blue cruiseliner as it was diffrent. Im shure the R model is better for quick looking at the engine compartment. Trent
  4. I still think that the old R,B,F,RW,RS,DM,CH, followd by the 685 786 etc...way was far better and easy to decode. I dont even try to follow this new crap. Whoes got the direct line to the C.E.O??
  5. 3P,Sorry,I Dont have a job for you but if there comes a time when your carear ends please do tell us all the behind the curtain BS that has been goin on lately. Thanks Trent
  6. you can have the pump converted over to a 2100 RPM pump but it will eat more fuel. see what your boost psi is right now if its the same or slightly higher after pump work you will be fine with the stock turbo. I have driven a few trucks that were switched from 1700 - 2100 Max RPM Trent
  7. Yes rob is correct turbo troubles and electrical issues seam to be the common problems in those years. I think it was more of the turbo mfg fault but it was blamed on Mack. I never heard the end of the whole story My opinion is the E tech engines can go a million miles before rebuild but they dont have the same power that Cat and cummins do. Put a bone stock 450 cat and 460 mack on the same road same weight and the cat pulled better hell my 285 mechaical mack pulls better LOL. There was a real good ECU upgrade program for the 427-460 but the EPA killed it off. I do hope the MP (volvo) engines are an improvment over the E tech stuff. I have heard that the MP's pull better but have not had the chance to drive one yet.
  8. it does sound like a pump or timing issue. grey smoke suggest its getting fuel just at the wrong time. when you pulled the injectors, did you by chance have them checked for there crack pressure?
  9. Here is our truck pulling last week It pulled the sled to 268' 237hp 6 speed 4.17 rears camelback And heres Brads Pull (280') 3rd place!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NT_t1JkABTc Trent
  10. welcome to the site. looks like you will fit right in here. We have alot of V8 fans here and im shure you will be helping them out with questions soon. Its still a sought after engine but parts are scarse today. Again welcome to the site Trent
  11. how do you get in it LOL!!!
  12. Yep you get 3 letters then suspension. In fairness it takes about 4 months of warning letters. If you dont pass they give you a month or more o fix the issue. I had to have a 91 suberban and 89 chevy tested 2 years ago and both failed the gas cap test. My work is only a mile from the facility so I went back and stole a gas cap from a frined and went back,Passed the test both times with the same gas cap LOL! I think IL emissions is baced on the area and population that the car or truck is taged in.If I recall a few years back, Mc Henry county they did not have emissions, fast forward to today and they do as its getting populated. Trent
  13. 34,000 thats for a complete finished cab correct? A local guy just replaced his Cab on his 80s valuliner. It was from the local mack dealer and I thought it was 20-30K for a complete cab??
  14. Rob I think its more of a chicago land thing as all my newer cars get letters about every 3 years I think they law just changed recently to only test cars 1992 and newer? my 91 toyota did not get a notice this year and I was expecting it. I know I have frineds that live out in the sticks and they dont get hastled with letters like I do. Trent
  15. I got an emission letter about 2 years ago and had to go in for a test. It passed with the switch in the "normal" position
  16. Hi Dave It was a great show, Very sorry we missed you. Im shure We will be there again next year! Brad How did PJ do driving the B. He got scared when I told him "I think it has a Quad" LOL See ya Thursday for the truck pull Trent
  17. it turns the puff limiter on or off. its just for smoke shows. normaly its plumbed into the parking brake to actavate its operation. I just put it on a dash switch. Trent
  18. The truck im thinking of has a 36"sleeper dual stacks simmilar paint job etc... it hauls a dump trailer parks near the fox lake Trainstation? I never see the truck working? but would like to chat with him one of these days Rob I can get you a few pics of the bracket under the dash. My camera is down right now but One of the superliners in the yard has dual cleaners. I dont hink you can use the kick vent with the air cleaner installed and the intake tube goes thru a panel that attaches to the cab simmilar to the pass side. Trent
  19. I have 3 air switches on my dash. PTO,tailgate, puff limiter all are of the simple lever style. I took them out of a wrecked pete at a junk yard
  20. WOW That RS/RL is from my town but I have never seen it before! I think the owner owns a Superliner now?
  21. just like the guys that still say a no power sterring truck is no big deal in the city. I had my RS for 1 year before I converted it to PS!!! those city jobs just killed my arms!!! When I bought my first B model the guy dropped it off with a mechanical detach. It worked fine to detach but lots of BS to get the pins back in when hooking back up. Im shure it was the best of the best back in its day but times have changed. Trent
  22. Yea Herb same way here in the city, Heard many old storys of crews leaving the boom on and letting the operator and truck driver do there job. I have moved a few machines where the operator just sat in the cab and we went a few miles down the street. of corse this was on a sunday morning or a back road away from the fuzz.
  23. http://break.com/index/how-not-to-tow-a-bulldozer.html
  24. Larry, when ever you need a new trailer to haul your dragster around,Ill set you up with a real nice featherlite simmilar to this trailer, just dont worry about the price we can talk about that later LOL just get all those springs back under your B Trent
