  1. I have noticed that on the R models (possibly B models) that the "V8" emblem is used if its a Mack motor. the detroit powered R700s did not have them.. could be wrong but what I have noticed and heard as well?? any truth to this? Trent
  2. Tuff looking mack. wouldent want to get its way!! what do you haul in that monster!!!!! Tuff looking mack. wouldent want to get its way!! what do you haul in that monster!!!!!
  3. welcome to the site. this is a great place to talk abuout Macks and those other so called "trucks" lol Trent
  4. I saw that episode also. I was thinking the same thing
  5. Great topic Doug I think all models built there were mentioned so far but I have another question..were some of the later B models and L models (altho not built in hayward) directed to the "western" owers. I thought I saw an item for B models on ebay a few years back with "western" on the title page.. could be wrong? wish I could find a pic of it again. also how common were the RS600s tractors (not the later valuliners)back in there day? I tend to find alot more RS700s and Valuliners in for sale ads Trent
  6. If you want it portable or liftable by your self or 2 people. your design will work, like I had said above we use a hitch simmilar to your drawing for sled pulling. 2 people can lift it and lock it into the 5th wheel but it makes life easy with a machine. If you made a smaller version of what sled pullers use I think it will work for you and be portable. just have a good welder fab it up for you!!!!! Trent
  7. you dont need the clutch for shifting just to start from a dead stop or for the clutch brake pto etc...
  8. Question I have the old style wiper motor on my RS. ( looks like a half moon shape). the air valve switch was faulty so I went to the mack dealer and they said there is 2 style switches. they gave me the "new style" that is slightly smaller than the original one. are these switches interchangable? they look like they will hook up the same way but will this smaller "new style" switch operate the air motor the same? Trent
  9. Our air pedal makes that fart sound also LOL sounds like you steped on one of those prankster hand shake buzzers LOL
  10. thats basicly what I use when I do the sled pulls at the fairgrounds. except the block under the bar is there just to support the weight when pulling. Im shure you could fab up a hitch like that but I think it is overkill? just my opinion .. It would be fairly easy to fab up a bracket that mounts to the rear of the frame. kinda like a pintle hook on a landscape truck. a good welder could make that bracket and all you would have to do is mount it between the frame rails. I see alot of the house movers tow the chase car with this style set up. Trent
  11. we have an air throttle on the companys superliner with the E9. Its real tempermental some times. and tends to make cold starts difficult if the air has leaked down. It is almost like driving a electroinic engine. (on / off) Trent
  12. My first day driving an R model went like this!. I had Just got my CDL the day before. I was at a stop light, put the truck in first gear as the light was about to change green. next thing I know the truck starts to move foward with the cluch "released" . I call the boss to tell him I think I tore up his truck and he says "put the compound in low and bang it into first.....figure it out...click" I drove the rest of the day like that. learned alot about the 2 stick 6 speeds that day. LOL
  13. Bob. Try Greco Construction in Des Planes IL. Ask for Tony or the shop forman. I stoped over there last year to look at a RS700L that was for sale. and talked with Tony( owner??) They have a VERY low milage C model that has been sitting on jack stands for 20+ years. V8 and all that good stuff under the hood. I know he had some parts for for older B models a few years back. may have some good parts and answers for your C model?? Trent
  14. sence on topic what are the full range ratios for the T200 sieres trans ..........Edit.. found a book tonight at the shop with many diffrent trans ratios
  15. http://www.brandoart.com/ this is the guy that did the work.. not shure if he travels but I know he does alot of the local trucks around the north chicago burbs
  16. just wondering a little here....why does mack say to only use "low low" in the first gear position? could you just use a T200 6 speed trans in the low range(1-5) and then flip it to "direct" to get that hwy gear? got to thinking again about your "new idea" Dave, and it makes perfect sence now.. If I had a 2050 I would have a huge final drive... .60 x 4.17 = 2.5 final drive!!!!LOL thats over a 100 mph at 2300RPM HA ha.. little to fast but would be nice here is that link with the info on B model transmissions ratios etc... http://www.oldmacksrus.com/trannys.htm Trent
  17. My good friend just had his truck lettered yesterday.. it came out real sharp I was thinking about having my RS done but kinda like the "convoy" look sorry for the large phots! still cant figure out how to resize Trent
  18. Dave sounds like you are in the same boat as me.. I have all new starting equipment on the END711 and it wont crank more than 2-3 revs before it quits.. I added some ATF in the individual intake runners and hope that it will make its way into the cyl to lousen them up.. Im going to wait until it gets warm again try to pull start her.. let us know if you make progress.. I feel your pain!!! Trent
  19. I think what David is saying is that if you have a "slow" 5.73 rear ratio with a double overdrive trans you get a bullet proof drive train. Top speed is not the objective. It was explained to me that the "slow" ratio rear ends have more teeth on the ring and pinion to spread the power across more aera.. also a faster spinning drive train (to an extent) will allow for smoother starts under large heavy loads. Over the road trucks can get away with a low 3.55 rear ratio and a overdrive trans becase they dont get down in the mud like dirt trucks. that sound right david?? Trent
  20. I thought about this also Dave, but was waiting for your reply on what your intent was. would be nice to have a "7 speed" Only draw back I see is that there is alot of added weight involved just to get a overdrive gear. would almost seam it would be just as easy to replace the 6 speed with box like an 8LL with a OD and crawl gears. I never did like the 2050 in a tractor trailer. to big of a rpm drop with heavy loads. they do seam ok in 6 wheelers. never looked but I suspect the rear end ratios were in the 5.XX range to get the truck to pull like it should? Im shure a good machine shop could rig up a yoke for you pretty easy. when I was thinking about this I was wondering if you could just use the air shift and not need a 3rd stick. I was thinking you could leave the 2050 in "low low / 5th" shift the 6 speed 1-2-3-4-5 and then hit the switch on the 2050 to "direct" and it would drop it in the OD gear hope you can follow that LOL Trent
  21. I agree with MackCL96, The CL is the top dog in the "C" sieres. kinda like the RW superliners of the "R" family. If you get what im trying to say. I dont see alot CL running around. Most of the new macks I see in the dirt are CHs with 427s or 350s mack power. I think it would be sad if they kill off the CL but with slow sales it wont make a big diffrence unless a high Hp mack engine is offered. I hope that volvo offers there new 625 HP badged as a Mack. One thing mack has lacked lately is a high HP engine (500+) I know most dirt trucks dont need all that HP but if people our buying lowboy trucks to haul heavy loads it would be smart for Mack to get back in on that high HP market..
  22. Nice CL !! looks real clean for a dump truck!!! did you get that special ECU program that is no longer offered because of emissions. I have heard a few people tryed to get it but Mack wont release it anymore?? oh almost forgot.... Nice looking girl in the photo! (no disrespet if shes related) Trent
