  1. tell us all about the trip !!! and where are all those pics? Hope you got some for us never seen those rears in a mack?? seen rockwells befor but it was rare. hope everything is good trent
  2. I dont have any tow hooks on my RS700 and might need some if I start to work the truck part time in construction. I have seen some people cut out the bumper near the frame rails to fit them. is there any way to make a brace from rail to rail and use the hole in the middle of the bumper (where you stand to open hood) i am not willing to cut up this perfect pumper. so I eather need to get a diffrent one or attache them where holes are already located.
  3. Volvo sold there automobile company to ford. Volvos main focus was to compete in the truck market and off road construction machines. If im not mistaken they are almost as big as Cat if you consider the truck division I heard this is one of the big reasons they bought mack. knowing its a good vocational truck maker. times change faster than I change my work shirt so who knows if all this is still true
  4. gatta love the color and yes It is a great looking cabover
  5. staneless sounds good but I just bought a Lund visior last year because I could only find the metal ones from AU..and it would have been 3x the price to have it shipped here oh well would those fit a R model? I have seen some R models with metal visors as well??? Trent
  6. welcome to the board.. those DMs are great work trucks local guy has a U model with a short WB single axel. Its equiped with his home made tool box/bed. it hauls all his supplys around for the brick paving company he owns.
  7. you have the side mount IC. I think they call that engine a 300+? if thats the engine you have its an econydyne so it needs more gears than the maxidyne with 5 spds. Thats because the power band is near the upper rpms on econodynes, the E6300 has a front mount IC. both are simmilar in size and placement of componets. like others said it can be done but you will run into unexpected hurdles...I say go for it a 300 HP in a B model sounds like a fun truck to own.
  8. repost from the ATHS board I have this used hyd pump that has (1) outlet and (2) return lines. Currently it was being used as a single line set up for a dump trailer. The 2nd return fitting is capped off. I want to make a 2 line set up for a low boy Can I use this pump for it ? Im not shure how the hyd lines run for a 2 line wetkit. someone said I need to use 2 return lines? any help is great
  9. welcome to the board...this was a recent topic last week or so here is the link http://bigmacktrucks.invisionzone.com/inde...p?showtopic=335
  10. the color looked like a DD Blue??? and the exhaust manafold was "slightly" diffrent from a stock E9 LOL Trent
  11. great pics wish they came near Chicago I would love to see them pull. How did the macks do?? is that a V8 Detroit in that red superliner? I saw a pic with v exhaust pipes on one side under what looked like a mack fender? Thanks Trent
  12. doesent sound good Dale... if there are no pipes over that aera it likely is a blown HG? I was just working on my 711 today had both valve covers off to paint and I did not notice any pipes/hoses there besides the injector lines. make shure you have a full radiator and check it wile its running to see if indeed the HG is leaking good luck Trent
  13. Jon has the tip turbine 300+ and I think a 12 speed? I have the tip turbine 285 wth a 2 stick 6 spd Jons truck did pretty good in the pull, The best part of the event was seeing all the new petes and KWs get shut down buy old superliners Jon whens the next truck pull? I stoped over at Norther IL Mack a few times to see Lee, He had mentioned a few pulls before fall. glad you moved over to this site. Thanks for all the help and support at the truck pull keep in touch Trent
  14. looking good barry!!! I will order one when I send the check for the door glass. whats the price for them size XL
  15. I dont think quads were options after the late 60s. a BCR could easly have one and if you have a 673 with a quad. it might be an early R model from the late 60s early 70s? the late 70s had numbers like 686,685 etc... Check your vin number on the frame rail near the pass front wheel to see what the truck came with...if its for shure a 79, it very unlikely that the quad came from the factory. My B61 has a quad and 5.73 rears..thats good for about 62 mph trent
  16. MAX SPEED 36MPH!!!! you need some diffrent rearends LOL... thats still a good MPG for such a slow speed.
  17. sounds like some wires are crossed. Im no expert but when i messed with my 12/24 volt system (3 years ago) It was a little tricky to follow. if the s/p switch is sparking I would not try to start the truck as it may burn it up. hook up the amp gauge and see if it gives a reading. I belive if it shows a discharge the wires are crossed on the gauge or hooked up backwards on the gen. if you have a discharge and the wires to the gauge are correct look for crossed wires at the regulater. hopefully thats all that is wrong. p.s I have a S/P if you burn your up....LOL Someone with more experince chime in please!!!
  18. welcome to the board...lots of good people here to help and BS with. love to see that pic you talked about
  19. dont feel bad we all are good a certain things is all that you removed was the regulater and genarator? do you get a volt reading with the dash gauge? does the series parallel switch "click" when the ign is turned?
  20. Prices are crazy and for no reason!!! I have hard others say a B model gets about 10 MPG bob tailing I get about 8 MPG bob tailing the RS700/285hp maxidyne. I filled up my driver side 120 gallon tank when I went to auburn. Prices were $2.07 a gal in IN at the time 110gal at 2.07= 227 good for about 770 miles..I made it back from auburn, walcott, and a few local shows and just put 20 gal @ $2.75 in this weekend. my pass 120 gal tank is shut off my companys IH with a 550HP cat gets 5.42MPG hauling 65K gross I just filled up the company truck with 240 gallons @ $2.83 = $680 I can hold 300 gal on the truck and 35 in the gen box on the trailer...so if my truck /trailer ws dry it would cost $948 to fill up. 300 gallons is good for around 1600 miles
  21. looking good!! the dog, truck and you look right at home. I need some pics of my Bulldog and mack truck. you could go around draining swimming pools for people now LOL. not shure of the demand but it my be just enough to fund the hobby ??? what part of Phoenix are you from?? I visit the northern part of Phoenix near cave creek rd a few times each year. A good friend of mine moved out there 6 years ago and he just loves the freedom out in the desert
  22. where is the crack at?? how was it caused?? if its done properly by someone that knows how to weld...yes its possible to fix I have seen some low budget race engines saved this way. however if it is cracked in a high stress aera you will have endless problems.
  23. on my B model I want to make shure I have the feed and return lines hooked up correctly. the inline pump has a -6 outlet on the bottom towards the front of the engine its connected to the hand primer, on the other end I see an -6 outlet on top, and at the rear closer to the air compressor what end is the fuel in / out just want to duble check Trent
  24. Im not shure what model it is but it looks like all the other filters that the B models have... I only filled the lube finder with a gallon because the dip stick was reading high and my hopes are when I prime the engine all the oil lines and channels will fill nd bring the oil level to normal... Am I correct in thinking that the lube finder is full of oil when the engine is running.?? Will the oil seap back into the crank case when you turn it off??reason I ask is that I see a little bleed nut on the bottom to drain it. im assuming this is for draining the housing for filter changes.?? Trent
  25. thanks Barry. I now have alot more room to post my pics thanks again for all your hard work !
