a Friend that makes 3D printed plastic was asking if I know where to find any line drawings that show Dims and measurements on the cab and hoods offered for B model Macks. Anything such as BBC or overall width can help but higher detailed stuff would really be helpful. If not I can take measurements off my Truck for him. Thanks for looking Trent -

Norm and His wife are a pleasure to chat with. I have visited with them a few times when I was out in his area for work. Always loved to see the new Mack's he gathered. I would try to spend a afternoon with norm just talking trucks when ever I passed thru. I need to give him a call as I don't travel anymore and likely won't see him again.

The roof on my RS700L was rotting around the rain rails. I removed the roof skin by drilling out the 200 spot welds. I was surprised when they told me to glue the new roof skin back on. Cross my fingers it sealed up tight and no rust yet.

Superliner stack question

My RS700L has 5" straight stacks with 5" elbows that reduce to 4, under the cab. Clearance is tight between the frame rail and cab. Your superliner will sit 1-2" higher than my truck so you might be able to squeez 6" elbows but it will be tight and you will want to check the air ride cab movement to be sure it will work. -

That's why I was asking!!!.....hello friend. I did not know this was you! LOL...truck looks great. All those parts looked like something I have seen before was wondering if you had bought a kit From someone but I guess you went right to the source... The details were all there I started building my western you sent me a few years ago But got held up after moving. I also want to get the correct frame for it. Keep the pics coming!

looks like a superliner northern il Mack had? Edit...just looked at a pic I have from 2006? And looking at the stacks it looks like it could have been at the lake county truck pulls. Think it was a nil Mack truck? -
Wow , very nice , who makes the western kit? Nice job on the details ... I see straight frame rails just like the real thing...not a lot of stock parts in your build!

Hopefully Al sees this. (Member Name: 57 BCR) I think his friend had a R700 painted like this. As a kid I saw it running past my house for years. A real head turner for a dump truck. Personally I like when the stripes go around the rear of the cab. When they stop it looks unfinished in my opinion. I painted a 1/87 scale Mack into these colors for display on my train layout. Let's see some pics of your model...

Is there any true Mack dealerships lift around here? Northern IL Mack sold a few years back to CIT. Looks like Chicago Mack sold to M&K. Seams like all the old dealerships have sold out or jumped ship to now selling Volvos. Is there any true Mack dealers left around here?

You Have 5 reverse gears. Compound in reverse and then 1-5 on the main. You can do about 25 mph backing up if your good...

Unless it has a Mack pto...then you keep the compound in gear and put the main in neutral.

RD is a tough old truck and will do great with anything you throw at it. It's just loud and has a little rough of a ride. In my opinion the R model was one of the best if not the best mack ever built.

Experience tells me a straight truck always gets into a tighter spot. And let's face it 90% of dumpsters are delivered by straight trucks. Depending on your state that trailer might not have the needed length for much more payload vs a roll off with a pusher.?

Good info terry. Hope some of the older members get it sorted out. It was great when HQ was leaving it alone. They had lots of smart people over there dedicated to all truck and engine makes. I will check them out soon.

Years ago the old ATHS fourm was just as good as this one. Then a few hard heads messed it up, forced a change and imposed new restrictions...needless to say they ruined it and last I recall someone started a stand alone fourm but in my opinion by that time all the well versed truck collectors and historians had enough, myself included.

Dual straight exhaust near done

Looks good. I fabed up that same set up on my RS700L. I have air ride cab now so had to mount the stack bottoms to a y pipe then add flex under the cab. I also did not use the roof rail mount as it was causing issues in the sheet metal and I could never get the stacks to be perfectly straight.
