  1. Finally saw you while I was awake...I made a mad dash from pattens yard to make it to the green arrow. As I was grabbing gears I was looking at the Pete and saying i think that's Brian's.....I saw your guy on the side of the road waiting for you looked like that was going to be fun trying to load him up but if he was able to move that's half the battle....I try to move over for stranded people when ever I can. It's no fun trying to strap something down with 70mph traffic going past you...
  2. If I recall the early version 12 speed was a 2 stick...i think the 2nd stick was just for the deep reduction used in 1st....the splitting was still done with the splitter on the main stick?Someone chime in if I wrong...
  3. Saw a dump truck parked with his box up the other day....looked like he had a load of frozen sand not one bit came out while it was all they way up.... Rookie?
  4. That will look nice in Mack red
  5. I respect his effort and it is his to do so but the results are of a pretty poor looking r model.....this is why we don't chop truck cabs....the look like toys when your done....even most cars look goofy when chopped but this one takes the cake... Just my.02
  6. Only has 3 posts and looks like all pertain to this thread... You may try a private messages hopes he sees it in his email or next time he logs on... Meanwhile can you share with us about your uncle and his trip with this beautiful Ford Truck. Great topic kscarbel
  7. I got a hold of the diamond tuck with buttons out of a valuliner. The door panels have dogs stamped into them and also sport the diamond tuck. I think it was one of the nicer interior options Mack has ever done. Would have liked to have found the dogs with a hat but it's cools hey way it is...
  8. 65 at 1800rpm is not to bad. Won't be screaming at a reasonable hiway speed and yet the 300 will have a little more fight to get to 2100 when you want to pass a governed fleet spec truck..
  9. Very classic looking B model with a touch of extra frame...looks great
  10. Same here...pulled the front end up a few times in places I should not have been driving thru. Can't comment on price of parts. Never have had to rebuild one.... on a side note if you come to a stop are later find your stuck on snow or mud and it won't kick in. Stab the brake pedal quickly to transfer power to a wheel with grip and it should engauge the divider. Just a few quick stabs will do the trick
  11. What was the option for the horse shoe stamped panels? I have seen just the dog stamped and the dog with shoe....was it just an option or was it a premium package?
  12. If you have camelback springs and automatic power divider you are good to go. Very reliable and it works great as long as the power divider parts are not worn out. Most r models with this set up will go in and out of the soft stuff where other trucks would not even think about it.
  13. Very cool..glad its home safe...post up some more pics when you have time...I have always wanted to see one in person...
  14. Gotcha.....don't know fuel specs and don't have my books handy..
  15. Yep. Gears you can use and or shift on the fly when backing up. The 8LL just won't cut it for backing up your either to slow or to fast and if I recall you can't range select when backing up?
  16. Are you sure it's a 2100 rpm engine?.....Mack made a 300L " L" as in low rpm. I think they were governed to max 1700 rpm.
  17. Hated the 2060/2070/2080 transmissions. All seamed to be behind a low rpm engine with real slow rear ends. It gave you no options besides replace the trans, the rear ends and up the rpm to 2100. At work we have a RD lowboy truck e7 400 with a 8LL and 4.17 rears. That truck pulls 100k+ with ease. Only thing better would be a trans with more reverse gears.
  18. Why do you have a seismograph in your truck? Looks like a very long earth quake?
  19. I saw Ernie's has the former northern IL Mack tow truck painted up...it was sitting out side the other day. Regarding the flipped trash truck...about a month ago at that same spot I watched a ups semi truck heading down the on ramp to 53 south with his trailer door rolled up... Right before he entered the high way 2 skids fell out the back, he kept going never saw it. The ramp was littered with boxes lol...
  20. And I bet that r model could out pull the electronic ch
  21. If you want email me the pic... Lmackattack@hotmail.com
  22. Mid 70s R600 model hoods were about 2" shorter than mid 80's and later R600....this was to make room for the front mount intercooler A pic might help just by looking to see the body line around the rear of the fender area.
  23. http://www.analysis-inc.com/reference/road-speed-calculator/ 4.33 rear ratio, .60 final drive, 11R22.5 tires (498rpm) If you have a 2100 rpm engine 97 mph If you have a 1800 rpm engine 83 mph Personally with a low rpm engine I would keep the truck with 4.33 so you have more road speed.
