  1. Thru the years there were many versions of r models... R, rs,rl,rd,superliner, valuliner,rb,bcr, crew cab, export versions.... Those are the basic ones I can think of. The u and dm model shared the same basic cab But even ith the offset cab family there were many versions. You had Gas job R400 Standard R600 wich was the most common long hood 700 series Heavy duty 800 series Fire trucks Western RS/RL 600/700 Think the r700 was introduced in the late 60s and continued until the early 80's Western Mack's were built in hayward California and focused on light weight trucks for western markets. That plant was closed sometime in the 80's Mack, cat, cummins,Detroit,AC, in all sizes were offered at one point or another.
  2. I really think that the MHD could grab some people's attention so long as its priced correctly for its competition.
  3. Love to see all these rare Mack's. Some of these are mack models I have never seen before.. Rick... Very nice model you created. Love the attention to detail!
  4. Some upside-down pics are not all that bad...just depends on the point of view... Enjoy your day.
  5. I think I see a few r models every now and then. Most are ch now but I swear I saw a r model in the last few years. I don't think celli is as big as paulmbo but they were one of the larger fleets around....
  6. I would love to just see you walk in and hand that artical to the judge and see the dumb look on his face....
  7. Lol....I'm feeling it today....
  8. I'm running so far behind that I think ahead....!
  9. Both Tanzillo trucks in the pics above we're sold. I know an exporter bought up a lot of his fleet. He still has 1 or 2 ch and a rd glider kit. His son has a black and silver rd and a black Pete that runs under Tanzillo. Formerly he was under pj hauling
  10. Its all about application. If you never go off road air ride is the way to go..on and off road, it's a crap shoot. Only off road ,spring One thing air ride has done is that it reduces road shock to the truck. But it will get hung up faster then spring...again application and it's use...
  11. I did not know about the bulkmatic connection...interesting.
  12. Thats pretty much as far as I got with it. It has window glass, new starter, seats. Etc.... But I ran out of time and $
  13. When I went to the celli yard 8 years ago...they had a trailer full of old fiberglass hoods. All used in poor shape...most went to the trash except for a few.. Think someone bought one and saved it.
  14. Tanzillo and I dug these 2 celli b models out of the frozen ground near ohare field. They were on the way to meet the torch. I bought one ,the other truck also found a home.
  15. Brad I like your upside down pictures....those were cool...keep up the good work LOL
  16. That's a great looking r model and I really like the 700L. I recently bought a 12 speed for my RS700L and hope to have it in soon. I also added an air ride cab set up a few years back and it rides pretty good. Would like to swap in some superliner front springs to soften it up even more.. Thanks for posting up these great looking Chicago Mack's..
  17. Here is the reliable engine and trans in the celli frame. Tanks were from the reliable truck as well.
  18. I bought that truck about 10 years ago. It was in funks old yard at rt22 and 14. I was 22 years old and had just found my first Chicago b model. The cab had no floor inside. Had old for sale signs used for a fake floor Rust holes around every window. The rear wall had a steel brace that I assume was to hold it to the frame because the rust was so bad. Double frame was spreading so bad that the rails were cracked in 3 spots. It had the air assist but not hooked up. Rear camelbacks had the old roto chambers. He took off the winch as part of the deal we made. I payed too much but did Manage to part it out and save the engine, doors, hood, fenders, and rear ends. Put some of that stuff into the CTC b model I bought a few years later. Frame rails and front axel went to superdogs place in IA.Trent
  19. When you put the new roof on you might have to put n those rivit nuts. Make sure you use good nuts and use a proper tool. Otherwise they will spin in the skin. I tac welded mine just to be safe.
  20. I always looked at Mack for off road and built for it. Pete and kw were on road driver comfort. But this is from a view point of someone that drove them in that same fashion.
  21. I bought a reliable wrecking b model from N J funk. It was set up with a 711 and 20 speed. Frame and cab were beyond repair. Should have passed on it but it was one of the only b models I had seen.
  22. I did the roof on my r model 2 years ago. Well worth the work if rust is showing. I also put in sound deadening sheets and insulation. Helps big time with noise. While that roof is off spray the insides of the a pillar with rust preventive that will slow any issues that may not be present o. The surface. And while you are there you may want to run a few wires down the a pillar for any extra lights external cb speaker, roof strobe etc....or stuff you may want to add down the road. Keep up the good work.
