  1. I just trimmed the ones that were barely too small. then put silicone on all of the ones that felt louse. the speedo and tach fit like a glove and never pop out.
  2. Thats where I took those pics Al. it was in a truck junk yard on the south side just off the skyway... Good to hear.... keep us posted with pics of progress, its a rare truck and would love to see the restoration pics.
  3. Speaking of v12's. How's that RS700L coming along Ernie?
  4. Saw him hauling end dumps 5-6 years back we would always wave when passing each other. Think we both could spot a long hood R a mile away?
  5. Here are a few I have seen in my travels... The cemented truck had 100% Mack drivetrain
  6. Man I noticed the air flow was poor these last few days with single digit temps and hi cycle times of the furnace. I pulled the filter and it looked like a litter box tipped on its side. I have been remodeling the house the last month cutting wood in the bacement, putting up new drywal and wood floors upstairs and man was it clogged. I pulled it out when the furnace was running and it made a sound of relief when i removed it! Went back upstairs after the new filter install and all the window curtains near the floor vents are blowing like I left a window open. Lol..... Just a friendly reminder!
  7. Yea I saw it a few times at Mack then saw it out on 176 for sale. Wonder if it sold or inside for winter . It's missing the air cleaner kinda wierd without it. But it looks like a nice old truck.
  8. Good to hear...
  9. Al... Do you know who has the blue R700 with twin stacks. He had it parked up for sale in front of a house on 176 near prairie grove? I went past it looking to get a shot of it and sadly did not see it on my way back from brads last week.
  10. Always thought the plain no padding interior r models were the same. To cold on low. Melt your legs on hi... Medium it just vibrates and drives me crazy!
  11. Had one in my first r model I drove. Wore the Chrome off of it
  12. Think super liners used the amber on boths sides and as a bonus some even had the cool marker light on the sides. So when your turn signal was not in use just the side of the signal had a marker light. I always liked those ...
  13. Saw him a few weeks back. He says hello to eveyone...
  14. I think this is the one I bought for my speedo and tach. they fit my stock mid 80s mack gauges. I like the standard (no visor ) myself but thats jsut me. http://www.uapac.com/trucks/interior-products/dash-accessories/gauge-accessories/gauge-cover-without-visor-speed-tachometer.html
  15. Sounds like a bad check valve. Or the system has a leak and the 2nd tank never gets over 100psi... Is the gauge reading correctly.
  16. I worked my RS in Chicago for 2 weeks hauling an end dump with manual steering. I quickly Decided to buy power steering so my arms did not fall off.
  17. My rs700l was sold to Wichita Mack . In my travels I have found more westers in yards/fields of the Midwest. Found a few out in Cali and Nevada but not in the numbers I would have thought considering where they were built.
  18. Yea. 2 valve injector can be seen at top of head where the lines connect to it. 4 valve just has the lines entering the side of the head on passenger side. 4v have sloped valve covers. 1989 would be 4 v unless it was pulled and a 2v was swapped in at some point.
  19. I went and looked at those RS700L when they were for sale. IIRC they had v8s and 6 speeds. one had notes that the bearings were done on them recently. Cabs were good except for around the rear cab mounts. they both were rubber mounted and must have seen alot of bad roads because the inside of the cab floor had a hump in them from the ab mount pushing upwards. I spoke with one of the owners and he was nice to the point that he showed me some R models that had seen very little use and were kept inside on jack stands. even an old C model mack V8 with low miles. I heard both RS700L were sold to an exporter.
  20. Mark, dont be fooled! we have are share of the plastic bumper flaing in the the wind, cargo strap holding the fuel tank on, hood about to fly off .....trucks running around here.
  21. there is one I had forgotten about. that one would fit right next to a paccalla (sp) intermodal mack
  22. another Chicago outfit that had ties to the political machine. Only they got cought with their little scam and now can't work for the state anymore.
  23. PAUL i JUST COPIED AND SHARED THIS ON FACEBOOK.......VERY SAD BUT ALL TO TRUE...
