  1. All that work and you could buy a R700 and just drop the engine in?...
  2. Ok been wiring up my oil temp gauge and I'm stumped. The back of my gauge has 3 terminals. I,G,S I assume its the following......ignition,ground,signal.? Anyways I put a keyed 12v wire to the I A ground wire from behind the dash to the G And a wire from the sending unit to the S Why is it that when my trucks coolent temp is at 180deg after a 30 min drive I can't see the needle move to show my oil temp is near my coolant temp reading? Did I wire it incorrect? All the trucks I have driven my oil temp is near my water temp when under normal driving light load.....anyone?
  3. Al.....I lost my throttle spring on the way home from Maggie's truck show this year...I had Just left, Mr stark was following me, and was heading for the hiway. I was trying to slow down for the on ramp when she went to full throttle. I had to pull the engine kill cable to get the governed back to idle. I had pulled over, opened the hood, and had fixed it as Mr stark was walking up to see why I had pulled over. Lol... Gotta love a old mechanical....
  4. http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=vHIve016S5c I was out in my truck today. Here is what my 285hp pushes through 4th gear.
  5. Good to hear. I actually just drove the truck for the first time today with the seat installed. I put it in the day I picked it up from you just never left the yard. Are you doing the aths meeting at your yard ths year? Hope you had a merry Christmas... Trent
  6. I'm going out on a limb here and saying that's a specific mount to a cummins family of engines. My rs700 has a standard Mack front mount that is cast but looks nothing like that. There was a few mount styles with the RS/RL frame. Some had provisions to bolt the lower radiator mount to them. Some did not. Different engines used different front mount and I think you will need to find a cummins specific mount or remove and repair it? Hopefully someone with first hand experience and can comment.
  7. Seat is good for me..one man's turd is anothers treasure! . I see what you mean about it bottoms easy when in the range I would set a bostrom at. Wonder if I can adjust the bottom stops? Another thought was to see if a lower profile base is offered? Seams if it sat 1-2" lower it would be perfect. But its perfect for what I need...
  8. And a window he can't see out of...
  9. I have driven in a few Pete's that had the seat so I hope my truck has the same feel. I just want arm rest and would like to swap from a hi back to mid back. Right now it hits my speaker when extended. On a side note I was in a truck last week that had the shock absorber removed from the seat. I have to say that it was a real soft ride on normal roads. Just had to much upward travel over big bumps. Absolutely no harsh jabs to your back or legs. It was pretty comfy...lol
  10. Yea I called seats Canada and I just need to give them a part number so they can send me a arm rest. The person on the phone said other no longer make the seat. It's off the market but stoll on their web page?
  11. I just put a eldorado seat in my RS700. Haven't left the yard yet but would like to see how it does. I need to order arm rests or it and it should be great.
  12. I have seen subs in a truck behind the seats but we don't have the room for that. I have pioneer speakers that do just fine but I listen to classic rock and music with little bass. Never been a big fan of big sub vibrations.....hey wait weren't you just trying to get the truck vibration free? Now you want a subwoofer?...wtf? LOL
  13. IMHO just put in the stock size but with good brand speaker. It will blow your ears out sitting that close. If you want more bass just put a sub under the passenger seat. As far as a good head unit. If you like your iPod or other device get a unit with aux ports or blue tooth. Best thing I ever did with a radio...
  14. Camelback has more articulating than air ride. This is why macks can crawl out of extream conditions. Air ride does not have the same weight transfer either. With air ride the ride hight control and corner weight can't compensate as good as with a spring. Only the older new way air ride could slightly compete becase of its larger air bags, spring like articulation and multi leveling valves. The new way is a great heavy haul set up as you can control hight, and reduce road shock. I think that lowboy and otr trucks do better with airide. Dump trucks better with spring. Biggest gain with air is better ride and less road shock thru the trucks frame.
  15. Same to you Ray....and everyone
  16. Frame looks good ,floats on the front,38 rears...think im in love...did you test drive it?
  17. Merry Christmas everyone...
  18. I don't recall ever seeing one in person but heard about them...only saw a old pic on their web page..... What year did they switch to Pete's?
  19. Some of the early square tube brackets did not have that rod. If it's just holding a straight stack it should be fine. Biggest issue you might run into is getting the y pipe up thru the frame rails or around the fuel tanks as you mention. I can see how this might be a pita...
  20. Thats what i thought. To bad.......Got any pics of when Lindahl ran b or r models.
  21. And said did I hear Elmwood is gone? Something about the owner died.
  22. I saw Tom last night at the long grove tavern...didn't know Elmwood had Mack's. Think they run kw's now?
  23. Vinny,The correct answer is...".I like them both."....but that's a lesson for the more....how do you say, experienced ?
  24. If your trans is direct with a 4.88 looks like it was set up for city use. . If you can get to a 4.17 you will have a 60mph truck at 2100 rpm. Just not as much get up and go.
  25. I think glen knows about this trick....hopefully he will see this.?
