I was at northern il Mack yesterday, they have a bigger building, same crew and more bays to work in. Brand new mack sign out front.....however, parts Guy said they were opening a kw dealer up next to it. Wonder how that will fly.

Alot of slip seat drivers had a hard time with the 2060,2070 transmissions.

Yea look for r model cutoffs as the frame width will be the same. Just chop,cut and weld in. Hook up new driveline or get lucky and make the same wheelbase and use old driveline.

Anything can be fixed but at what cost and trouble to do it. In my opinion to save that truck you would buy a cut off and weld it in. No use putting new rails into it just based on cost and time. New rails welded in would do the same and last just as long.

A 2050 (5speed) does not need any air to shift the trans. A 2060(6speed) uses air to put the trans in lo-lo a 6 speed shifts as follows. 1st Lo-lo, flip to hi 1st,2nd,3rd,4th,5th only need the air flipper to get in and out of lo-lo

Yea, those rails are junk. Would have to cut and weld in new ones. I wouldent haul much with the rails like that. Who knows what it's like behind those rails.

That's why I love end dumps. The oil that leaks out of the hoist always finds a new home on the fifth wheel keeping everything rust free.

I think its still running around. I see his six wheeler in the winter time. It sounds great when under constant load pushing snow

Ok so we all agree. If you ever had your hand near that intake when the engine was running at hi idle you would feel the suction. Just imagine what it's sucking when the turbo is going to Work.!

I think Sals Superliner is perfect for ao OTR truck. now for off road it likely would not make it over a hi curb without tearing up something. Now if he would just put the dog back on the hood!

I see less and less every year but their still is a good handfull running around. the ones left are either on their last leg or the owners have brought them back to life for one more go. Alot of slope nose RD will be seen and a few superliners can be found. With the bad economy many have been sold or are just in hiding. 20 years ago it seamed that Mack was the only truck around. If you had a fleet you bought mack becasue of easy part swap and a strong local dealer network. However In the mid 90s I think Mack got a little cocky with prices and thoughts about their compitetion. When Pete and KW started to show force around here with their "new kind of truck" that cost less, had a bigger cab, air ride everything people started to look at them as a step up. First came the paccar lowboy trucks, then when the dump trucks started wearing out they went with pete tractors. This has been the status for about 15 years now. However many fleets found out quick that these new pete/ KW trucks even if speced very simmilar still did not have the ease of parts swaping like the old macks did. so when one was broke down it was harder to get it going with bone yard parts, regardless of that the fleet numbers have dropped in numbers, 15 years ago a large fleet was 20+ trucks now these same companies just keep 1-2 trucks around and hire out owner operators as its cheeper to pay a guy to bring his truck than to pay for your own to sit when no work is around. Seams that mack is making a comeback but the economy is not helping with growth. I see 2x more macks running around the citys near NY,NJ, LI Trent

Just measure from center of front axel to center of tandems. Looks like its over 206" which is what I have, and I would like about 20" more just so when I put a bunk on I have good deck space left.

Would have to find a junk cab and cut it out. Very rare to find a nos panel that was just sitting on a shelf in a garage.

Getting more power is easy, keeping it all bolted together is not so easy. A simple $400 pump re calibration would get you another 75hp-100hp. But your fuel mileage will suck and you would have to feather the throttle As the power would be like a lite switch.. This extra power will stress the pump, injectors, and internals. Not to mention more smoke and higher egt when lugging.
