  1. Great photos of the long hoods.. question..am I the only one that only disliked how Mack mounted the stacks on the later models..they put the stack right in line with the mirrors..made it hard for backing up the cab mounted stack had better placement imo.. Thanks for sharing
  2. Rip..he recently did a lot of work on his h model and I enjoyed hearing about its progress.
  3. I like that Green RD. has all the right specs for what it is doing. Price is too high for me but not out of line if its got that low of miles on it. you could not touch a new truck and trailer for that. you would be at least another 50k away.
  4. I want to say the puff limiters came on all the turbocharged engines. all the ones I have seen had the relay valve on the intake manafold. I do recall a early model that may have been located on the pump?
  5. I think your starving for air..not over fueling..what truck is this engine in..the 675/676 made around 23 psi of boost.
  6. Saw this om my travels this week. Kind of hard to see but its a spacer/bracket to mount spring chambers.looks simmilar to trentons pics..
  7. Barry Where can we send the donations. I use pay pal...And a Big thanks for setting this up for us, yourself and Watts Mack has been a big help for getting us mack guys the parts, and advice that many of us need keeping these dogs on the road.. Trent
  8. Looks like fun...ask how I know..
  9. Speaking of bullet proof...lots of Mack sled pullers use them behind the v8s. While on topic.. I would like to find a good 12 speed if any one has a line on a reasonable priced one please let me know..
  10. Yes the spyders bolt to the axel tube just behind the hubs. They hold the brake chambers brakes; and the hole for the s came to pass thru.. I think later r model spyders will swap in..you will have to clock them correctly to make sure the spring chambers will not hit the bottom of the frame rails when the Axels move up and down... Look at a r model and you will get the idea..
  11. The 12 speed is one of macks best transmissions behind a 300 or 350 motor. You can drive it like a 5 speed on the flats but have the option to split each gear on half. It's overdrive so you can get hone quick.. You also get 5 reverse gears and a low low.. pretty much the best of everything. They did have some scratching issues in the hi low range select..some are worse than others. It's triple countershaft and will hold up to any thing you can throw at it...parts are getting a little harder to get tho...I'm wanting one for my truck.
  12. I paid 75 each for them. 7 years ago...they are harder to find today...
  13. Yep roto chambers. You will need to change the spiders to allow the spring brake chambers to fit without making contact to the drums.
  14. I'm thirsty.
  15. Worst I have done ...bosses truck...was raise the box on a hill and he held it with a excavator so it did not go over...stupid..but...
  16. When I was a kid and needed to jump a car but had no cables.. I would take a good battery out of a car and flip it upside down on the bad one..worked every time..but this was before I had ever seen one go.....ahhhh.....and I survived!!!!
  17. 3 years ago I had a battery blow up on me. box was off and I had jumper cables in my hand ...not even connected to a charging source yet. As soon as I touched the cable to the post it let go..luckly I had gloves and sunglasses on ..my hand hurt like hell as it took a hit from something..boy was it loud... I know a guy that almost died from a battery blowing up. He had just put 3 batterys in a starter cart had put the cables on and leaned back in his floor stool to get a wrench from his tool box. His foot bumped the cart and it must have wiggled a cable to get a spark..2 of them went off tearing holes in the carts sheet metal.
  18. Rowdy..how are those 40' end dumps ...I rarely see guys dump in the mud with them..if they do its hard packed and dry... Hell my 22' scares me sometimes..
  19. thanks guys..next year I will try to get a few "extras" to sit on the hood for a pic.. randy please don't rsvp. LOL
  20. Here are some of the long hood..
  21. Simple test as mentioned.. With park brake set.mash throttle pedal and it should blow black. Now with brakes released, mash throttle and it should not blow nearly as much black.just a hase,no more. If this is what it does the puff works fine. If I recall the puff needs to see boost around 15 psi of presser before it allows the rack to fully open.
  22. Thanks rhasler.. all in the fun of owning a truck..
  23. New paint on the dump trailer. Just cheep rustoluem but its better than looking at rust.
