  1. Yea first truck I drove was a r model with solid mount. Wssent that bad empty but I was also 21 and dident care...Here is a pic of it.
  2. He was just in a higher gear than he needed to be when driving in the lot. You hear the govenor trying to compensate for the low rpms. Backing up he is just in a low gear..sounds normal to me..
  3. Early 80s macks were hard to find with air ride. I think it started becoming conmon in the mid to late 80s but some fleets just kept buying the rubber mount cabs. As they were cheeper. I have noticed that Macks with air cabs lasted longer than the hard mount mack cabs .
  4. At highway speed/rpm it only takes about 30 sec to raise the box. By the time you notice it is up its likely is to late..
  5. I installed the superliner air ride cab setup today. I used the old frame perches that held the stock arch bar. Made a beam to hold the back of the lower air bag plate. Then bolted a L brace to the frame crossmember to capture the other end of the plate. The upper part of the air bag bracket simply bolts to the bottom of the cab.ran new air lines and set the leveling valve to my liking....8 hrs later and she is a much smoother ride. No more bucking or violent shaking when you go over a bridge. Bobtailing is not a nightmare anymore. The old cab brace was cracked in 3 spots. 4of the 8 bolts snapped off with little force when trying to remove them 2 of the 8 were already sheared off . The frame crossmember in that location was also cracked near the frame bolts...that's how nice she rode LOL..... I just need to fab up to radiator stays and remove the x brace..
  6. That's a classic..reminds me of the many amt ertl 1/25 scale models I built as a kid. I say 187" wb 300 with a 6 spd??? Pretty common r model spec ..It may be sitting low in the back if it has cab air ride and the air leaked out. If it is sagging and is solid mount look at the cab brace in side the cab, lower rear wall. If its curved its bent from a life on bad roads.hopefuly its just lea ky bags. Looks solid and a fair price..
  7. Yea..mchery co fair..ozinga concrete brings a kw filled with something because the sled can't stop it LOL
  8. Had our sled truck out last night made it to 2nd place out of 11 trucks.. She had more in her just lost the traction. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OEzJ2tLQWWk&feature=youtube_gdata_player Here is one from 2 weeks ago.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jFjc0CHGY1k&feature=youtube_gdata_player
  9. There was a guy from tx selling 2 styles of air cleaner straps on eBay a few months back. Might look there to see if be has listings.I almost bought some .Instead I just had my tip turbine air cleaner straps re chromed for 250.
  10. Got an air ride cab kit coming next week. That will help with the rear of cab vibrations. It also will get the metal radiator support rods that bolt to the firewall. I haven't replaced any motor mounts yet bit that would help.
  11. Another great deal with a great price. Phil followed up with some parts i needed. He sent photos of a air ride cab setup, emailed him back that I wanted it and had a tracking number 10 min later..that's service! Thanks again Phil!! His contact.....Phil@globaltrucktraders.com Trent
  12. I hope that is not a finished product.. it looks like a prototype model.
  13. Well I have put about 1000 miles in the truck with my 5" straight stacks..have to say that its not bad in the cab with all the sound deading I installed. The fire wall and floor let most of the noise in and I think some more improvement can be made mainly around the shift boots and steering shaft boot. I can't really feel the dab vibrate like I did before I had installed the sheets of dynamat. Now I just need some A/C in the cab!!!
  14. You should see some fuel spray when you crack louse an injector even when the engine spins at cranking rpm. Make sure the pump is getting fuel. If you have a hand primer pump it untill fuel comes out the return. May have a fuel pick up issue so add some fuel to the tank if its low...
  15. Larry. I built a amt ertl r model kit using that b model cab. It's nicely detailed. I also built up a Aussie valueliner.r model with ablebody sleeper and day cab superliner with resin parts..pretty cool what is out there today..
  16. Plastic on the frame to and from valves etc...rubber or some sort of flexible hose that will Händel movement from a frame located valve/fittings to an axel..that's what I have always done..
  17. I took a few pics when there..figures that most were not macks..but there were so few there this year.here are a few of the pics I took. The hand polished trailer was impressive!!!
  18. Left home at 5am Friday, got to the show around 9am.. walked around with some friends had lunch and was back on the road around 2pm..was a good time..sorry I missed you..
  19. Do you have a fitting on the oil pan?? That's where my temp sending unit is..and that's where I have seen others install them..
  20. Need to find the model of air ride you have then check the specs. Frame hight will depend on how the set up was built and where the drive line angles fall into place.. iirc 41" is normal frame hight for pulling van trailers but that is not to say it would not be +/- a few inches with odd specs or changed specs after it was built..???
  21. Boost leak??..12 psi sound low.. what's the boost spec for that engine...
  22. Dan I have seen sevral late model rs700l with the standard flat top hoods. Mine was built 10/77' and is flat. Have seen a few 76' with the ribs. I know this has come up a few times and recall Mack did it for added strength?? Seams no ryme or reason to why some trucks had the rib and others did not????
  23. Where have I seen that truck before???
  24. Looks like you need more fuel!..LOL were getting ready for pulling season here. We make 3 events each year and every one is a good time.
