  1. I think what your dad was telling you was that macks automatic power divider. if you were stuck and spinning the wheels or just spinning the wheels on one axel, you tap on the brake pedal to try and get the power over to a diffrent wheel/axel and hopefully if it transers the power that wheels traction will get you out. I have used that trick many of times. some times it works sometimes not. need to go easy as its abuse on the drive line.
  2. Thats a cool Pic... the good ol days. to bad I was born a little to late to live them... However When I remmber when I first started driving. You pulled into a truck stop fueled up without paying first, sometimes a guy would come out to handel the hoses for you while I checked the oil and cleand windows. when you were done you pulled up or parked and then went in to pay. now you have to go inside 3 times. and wait behind the same 3 drivers each time. 1 go in to pay 2 go back in to turn the pump on after it shuts off because you needed more and they cant hold your card 3 go back in to get your recipt. what normaly took 10 mins now takes 1/2 hour
  3. his contact info is in the pic of the parts manual.
  4. Heres the short story. A fellow had emailed me shortly after I bought My RS700L in 05'. He was intrested in some detail pics of Mack western 700s I took a bunch a pics for him and we chatted about the RS/RL and the diffrences in them over the years. His intrest was to reproduce model parts for his Mack western builds. So after 5 or so years of chatting thru email I get another email a few weeks back. he Showed me some pics of the diffrent trucks he had built and the parts he had made. Saw some pics of the parts and I had to have some as I was intrested in making a model of my RS. I get home and find a card that says I have a package waiting at the Post office. Get the parts home and here they are,Pretty cool the amount of detail he puts into the kits. I dont know exactly what a kit contains as he thru in a few extra stuff for helping him but if your a model maker you may want to contact him and see what he can do for you.
  5. What did "the 151line" mean..always wondered...
  6. Also before you fire it off.1st crank her over with the throttle stop out until the oil gauge starts to read. Then push in the stop and when she takes off you know oil is flowing..
  7. Trucks looking good. If you have time When you get it home can you pop that hood and get us pics of the engine and how they got it in that frame. I find it intresting how they set up the cowl and extension panels The duel head lamps look like they came from a A model KW or that aftermarket clarbian (Spelling?)hood MFG. they look diffrent for sure. not sure if I like it or not?... Glad shes home safe and sound...! Trent
  8. My Cell phone went dead the other day. It was a hand me down from a friend from 4 years back before that I had a phone from 4-5 years when I signed the first contract with Nextel. Now I have seen all these wizzy smart phones but never cared to test them. Have many friends that use them but still I was in it for nextel direct connect service. Problem now is that my phone was dead, im on the road and the word is that Sprint is killing off Nextel in a few years and not putting out smart phones with Nextel service... Me being on the road I always had a hell of a time with Nextel service out west or 5 miles off any major interstate. more than 1/2 my friends dumped the poor nextel service for the better sprint coverage. so come today and I find that I hadent been in a phone store for over 7 years. none of them looked like my old beast of a phone.... So hear I am. old dead phone in hand and looking at all these flat screen smart phones. After 30 mins of messing with them I decided to get one. Bought a HTC evo4. I dont feel smart for buying it but have to say it does everthing I could think of that a computer does and more than I care to learn right now. as far as today went I was able to take pics and then send them to the girl back home. its kida interactive and that helps when on the road trying to communicate with work and family.Give me a few days and I will let you know what I think of it. I think I have a much better understanding why I see so many close calls on the road. Besides making a simple call, the phone has so much stuff that if your driving you cant pay attention to the road if you were fumbling with this thing!!!! thats all for now!
  9. Thanks Steve.. all a work in progress. The set up was not real hard to fab up but welding the new bracket under the cab was a PITA. I did not have room for frame mount muffler brace as the fuel tanks sit to close to the rail and the strap is right where I would need to mount it on the rail.
  10. I dont have good close up shots but this is what it looks like the under cab brace is welded to the floor and it has provisions to accept a 4" saddle clamp. the cabs OEM bottom and middle muffler brackets were removed but I left both inner brackets in the cab. I only used the bottom OEM holes to support my home made brace. I made a bracket that uses all 4 holes to both support and hold the Stack/clamp to the cab. The middle OEM muffler clamp just has bolts in the cab to hide the holes. the Rain channel bracket is OEM and I just made a extension to grab the top of the stack. The middle and under cab bracket are the 2 clamps that do most of the support as they are holding both ends of the 90 deg Elbo Firm. the rain channel bracket mainly holds the stack straight and keeps it Steady. Hope this helps Trent
  11. I bought some from Mack for my RS700L about 4 years ago. Not sure if they still have stock on them? I could not get the upper mount that hold the top of the stack where it clamps to the stack. I had to copy the stock one out of aluminum. Just my .02 but the stock brackets are junk. they never seamed to hold the stack correctly. I added driver side stack to my RS700 and the one I drilled and installed was better than the Factory RH side. Still the stack was always a little crooked so I ended up fabing my own mounts using the exsisting holes. Trent
  12. I was pissed at this when I first read it. but then thought a little more about it. Just like the Speedlimiters. who is to say you cant find a way to cheat it. Its sad that this is what it has become but when that day comes it will just be time to hire a Hack to reprogramm the unit. It may be a blessing in disguise? Think about it. you have a E-Log that always says you drove X miles from X location. just hit the reset button everyday before you start and it recalculates when you started and does all the math for you!. Less writing and trying to remember where you ran out of hours. PRICELESS!! No more tearing out paper and buying louse leaf paper!. I have said it many times. I dont drive with the HOS in mind. I drive safe and at my own pace that suites me. not the goverments. END OF STORY!

  14. 5,600 draw bar HP @25mph each, x 3 = 16,800HP... A diesel may have less maintance but will never look as good as a hard working steam engine.
  15. Color vid of a N&W coal drag. Can even see a B model drive by at the end...

  19. Do you have truck parking?
  20. Wonder if American Trucks will be allowed into mexico? not that anyone would want to go there. THis really sticks me bad. With all the job issues we have here and that Idoit in office thinks this is a good idea. Not to mention the killings, drugs,Illegals that we already deal with now this. Some times I just want to pack up and head to Western Central Canada and just get on with things.
  21. and the can of worms were opend regarding Big brother and computer log books .
  22. Have only seen 3 one out near salt lake UT, one in Upstate NY and another in Canada. all were lowboy trucks. very rare still.
  23. Never pulled a side dump but all the end dumps I have pulled just needed a standard PTO set up. If you have 2 hoses it sounds like it is a "2 line" wet kit. you have a feed and a return. this means that the trailer has some sort of bypass valve that lets fluid flow in and back to the tank untill you move a lever and the fluid flows to that ram. this is the same style wet kit that many Lowboy trucks will use. things you need to know before you start looking 1) what trans in your truck. (need to know the gear ratios and mesh) 2) 6 or 8 bolt PTO or both? (some transmissions have 2-3 options for a pto mount) 3)how long will the PTO be in operation (long duty cycles = hi fluid temps) 4) how much fluid does the system need? (how big of a tank will you need) 5) remote mount pump or married unit. (the married units are nice but $$$ and very heavy to have hang off the side of the trans) once you know this you can call a shop and tell them what you have and what you are doing. if they are well know shop they will have the set up options for you. If its a standard set up they will tell you what pto and pump to find then all you have to do is plumb it into the tank and run lines to the deck plate. the contols will likely be air operated off a simple dash vavle. one tip is to put shut off valves on the tank, you will thank yourself the first time you have to replace a hose! I installed my own wet kit. The shop near me is RG smith and equipment in Desplanes IL.they finish alot of dump trucks, garbage trucks etc.... I showed them the pump/PTO had and they told me what fittings and controls I needed. Not a hard thing to set up but it is a little pricy if you buy new. I bought used and it was 1/4 the cost of new!
  24. can be a few things but most common was the govenor needs some adjustments, new weights, springs etc... check the fuel for air also
