Saturday morning "Honey-Do" pictures........

And today's adventures. Started with the small bush to the right, up against the fence/deck. Hooked this one to the Silverado in 4WD-Low and she came right out with a little bit of throttle. Then I was feeling my oats and hooked the Chevy to the big one on the left, which promptly laughed at the 307 cubic inches (5.3L) so I went and got the 554 cubic inches of Thunder Pumpkin mounted in the Four Wheel Drive platform......As always it was just a matter of mixing the right amount of horsepower, torque and gearing. The last picture is for Otherdog......The Bondo works pretty good, I just need to find some green paint now. -
I could pass him in the FWD with 2 cylinders out when he's empty.........

I dont know if there is anyone here that's closer to Newark than I am. It's only about an hour ride for me. I can make a day out of it and take his stuff over and then visit some friends on the Newark Fire Department. Doug Maney usually gathers up some friends and does the TK on Thursday night. I can probably come grab you at the hotel like last time Ken. I'm taking off from work on Friday morning and heading out with the FWD then, I could probably swing by the hotel and pick you up as long as you don't mind being seen in an F.W.D. The wife will be out Friday night for the picnic and to grab me, we can drop you back at the hotel. Saturday AM I'll have to figure something out because my father (usually picks me up) may be away. If he comes to get me we can get you too.

I concur with Bigdogtrucker- whoever told you this is insane. I converted the F.W.D. from tube-type bias tires to tube-type radials and WHAT a difference. I'm sure the fact that the (non power steering) steer axle is also a drive axle comes into play.....But I I find that the radials are WAY better for both ride and steering.

Yeah SWMBO was a little bent outta shape but I forewarned her that it would most likely happen, but apparently I am supposed to figure out a way to yank the bushes WITHOUT the ruts in the yard and the dirt and debris all over the place. -
My father installed an air ride on his single screw Hayward F-Model in the late 1970's/Early 1980's. It was a 2-speed Rockwell rear.

So....Honey asked me to pull a few bushes around the house. I asked a buddy of mine who was a landscaper how to do it, and he said yank them after a good long soaking rain. So since it dropped 3" here yesterday, I figured why not try today. Figured I could do it with my Chevy Silverado, worst case drop her into 4WD-Low. Well, the first bush (which was tiny compared to the one in these pictures) took a little gentle persuasion....First tried nosing in with the pickup and pulling in reverse. Did it a few times to loosen it up. - nope. Then I turned the pickup around and went in a different angle forward in 4-Low and after some encouragement it came out. Then the one in the pictures.......It laughed at the pickup. So I ante'd up to The Mistress. Figured the bush would see the Mistress coming and jump out of the ground on it's own. Nope. First I nosed in and tried reversing out.....Nope. So I turned around, set the differential lock (locks all three differentials) and put her into LO and the Mistress and I had the last laugh.

You were 10 minutes from my house when you were at the Mack Museum!!! If you go to the Macungie Truck Show, Mack Trucks runs buses from the show over to the Macungie Assembly Plant where you can do a self-paced walking tour of the assembly line, which is about 1.25 mile long total. If you need any help with local lodging suggestions, hit me up.

So Ray, a little birdy told me you're heading up to Maine next week to haul a little something painted red, that has an engine that may be louder than the siren it's equipped with........Make sure you post pictures!!!! But please, no audio or under-the-hood pictures.

You should try to get to the ATHS Annual Father's Day Weekend Truck Show in Macungie, Pa. 600+ trucks and always with some for sale. You can even meet quite a few of the usual gang of idiots guys that hang out on here- we always meet up and do a group photo.

True Dat, forgot. Hale also has pretty good archives- give them a yell, they are located in Conshohocken. Pa. a spitting distance from me.

I am not privy to the exact politics, however there is a degree of separation for the Museum and Corporate. I have heard that this was proposed in the past but was shot down by the Corporate Legal Eagles, not sure why, something to do with the legalities and the separation. Also why they need donations- they don't get a ton of money from Corporate.

Get a recent copy of Hemmings Motor News. All kinds of vendors in there for antique kinds of stuff. Also the package from the Mack museum will send out a list of vendors who specialize in supplying goods and services for old Mack stuff. If you have an old firetruck, you have to join SPAAMFAA (The Society for the Preservation And Appreciation of Antique Motorized Fire Apparatus in America.) It's kind of like the Mafia- if you have an old firetruck, you have to join. Don't know if you are on facebook, but they have a great facebook page. There are also tons of other antique firetruck (and old truck) related facebook pages.

ECD: 1. If you don't already know, contact Don Schumaker at the Mack Museum (donald.schumaker@consultant.macktrucks.com) with the serial number to request copies of the factory archives. There is a 6-10 week wait due to numerous requests and limited (all volunteer) staff. There is no charge but please be sure to make a nice donation to the museum upon receipt of the very heavy box that you will receive in the mail. You will understand when you see what's inside the box. Tell Don that Randy Yardumian, the FWD guy sent you. 2. It's most likely a Waterous pump- be sure to contact Waterous with your pump serial number (will be stamped into a plate on the pump panel) and request a serial-number specific manual (which will include parts pick and build sheets and owner/operators manuals.....) there is no charge and Waterous is not hurting for money. 3. If you need any advice on running the pump or where to obtain firefighting equipment or you have other fire-related questions feel free to PM me anytime, I'll forward my digits. Most important thing to remember- never run the pump for more than a minute or two without any water in it. And if you don't know what you are doing you can cook off any water inside it and fry the pump. What are the specs? Still have a 707 gas or was it converted to an oil burner?
