Update: Mike remains in a medically-induced coma and is in the ICU. He underwent some surgery today to begin repairs on his eye orbital bones, his jaw and his forehead. There were unconfirmed reports of minor brain surgery (whats minor about that??) A reconstructive jaw/gums/teeth guy will look at him tomorrow. He has stabilized but remains in critical condition. Your prayers are appreciated.

Praying for a former co-worker tonight, who is a Trailer Mechanic that I worked with at JEVIC Transportation, who went on to New Century Transportation. He was working on a trailer today when a suspension air bag catastrophically ruptured and severely injured his face and jaw. He may have brain damage; the severity of his injuries are not known yet as he is in a medically-induced coma at this time. He was repairing a reefer that came in with a dead battery. After he replaced the battery and got it running again, he was inspecting the rest of the trailer before releasing it back to Dispatch. It was then that he noted one of the air bags was cocked, and he told the shop foreman that he needed to repair/replace that before it got released from the shop. That was the last thing anyone knew- next thing was BANG and they found him face down under the trailer in a puddle of blood, unconscious. They pulled the trailer out from over him, and the shop foreman (who happens to be a former Paramedic) safely rolled him over and began treatment. He got it in the face bad- may have a busted nose and jaw, teeth are missing and he also has a hole in his forehead and you can supposedly see inside his head. At one point he woke up and was very incoherent and combative- which I remember from my EMT days as an indicator of traumatic brain injury. He got a chopper ride down to Cooper Hospital in Camden NJ. Your prayers for a damn good trailer mechanic and all around super nice guy are appreciated. -Randy Y

2013 ATCA Macungie Show June 14, 15, 2013
1958 F.W.D. replied to fxfymn's topic in Truck Shows and Events
It's at the ATCA "Family Reunion" picnic held on Friday Evening starting about 5:30-6:00pm. ATCA provides burgers, dogs, sliced roast beef, piggy and drinks....Everyone else brings potluck stuff- potato salad, coleslaw, cheese trays, salads, deserts, etc. We brought a big tray of philly soft pretzels with dipping sauces- thought that would be cool for the out of towners. You have to sign up ahead of time. There are a few hundred folks there. Entertainment is a couple of gals doing karaoke and they're not too bad either!!! We never did it before and had a great time!!! -

One of the raffle prizes....15 tix for 10 bucks. A whole poopload of prizes such as cleaning materials, buckets, waxes/polishes, bundles of rags, glass cleaners, wrench sets.....I REALLY wanted this super nice floor jack which was the next-to-last prize before the cash prizes (100, 250 and 500) were given out so when I didnt get the floor jack I was dissappointed. Never thought for a second we would get the big bucks...LOL -

2013 ATCA Macungie Show June 14, 15, 2013
1958 F.W.D. replied to fxfymn's topic in Truck Shows and Events
Wanted to share what my wife said, but first I need to lay the foundation: I dont make her go to my truck shows, and she doesn't make me go to her girly shit shows or shopping at the mall or whatever else women like to do to their men to torture them like that. That being said, she knows that to me, Macungie is the super bowl/world series and stanley cup of truck shows all rolled into one. Since we only live about 20 miles away, she tolerates the antics that occur for 3 or 4 days. I usually take Friday off from work and drive the truck over and leave it- so she has to come get me friday night. Since we never tried the picnic before, I asked if she thought she might want to go. She said "sure why not." So we were there, enjoying the fantastic food and company of everyone....She liked the girls singing and I am sure everyone saw my "small" chasing those three blonde girls around in front of the stage (YOU GO BOY!!!) In the last few years we have had to cut back on magazine subscriptions, club memberships, etc etc etc to make the bucks stretch. As the door prizes were being handed out, she asked me if "this was one of the clubs I gave up." I said that yes it was. She then said "I really like this family atmosphere- these folks are all really nice people. Go ahead and spend the money and re-join on Monday." Then we won the $500 and when I handed her the cash, she said "YES. RE-JOIN!!!!" In all seriousness, for her to come to that conclusion was a big thing. ATCA impressed her, which is a hard thing to do sometimes....LOL -

Dont know if I will make Gerharts or not- Since your Aunt Star works 12 hour shifts on the weekends, I have your cousins Small, Medium and Large to deal with and going to Gerharts is a long ride for a 2, 8 and 9 year old. But you never know. I also really want to go to the Brockway show in Courtlandt NY so I should pick one or the other. -
Well if it isnt running we know his hearing is ok........

Whoever put a mechanical asshole into that Superliner needs to be kicked in the balls until he spits blood, and then 20 more times for good measure. -
I am so irritated at myself for totally forgetting the gathering at DCR's "Mobile Headquarters." I was at my truck sitting under the awning, "Small" had just fallen asleep in his stroller (which was desperately needed) and a friend came along and sat down and we started telling lies........And when I looked at my watch it was 3:30..........dammit!!!!! LOL

I believe the intention is to drop the car off on the way down from Conn (which makes sense- easier to get to Queens from Conn than from Jersey....) and then get a van service ride to his buddy's house.

Macungie 2013 and the Mahon Family Truck Collection Pix
1958 F.W.D. replied to 1958 F.W.D.'s topic in Odds and Ends
Yup those are some of the ones that got cut due to running out of space. I hope to work on organizing the albums tonight and cut out those firetruck pics to make room. -
My god there are some fugly dudes in that pic.......Who's that thin guy wearing the APGFD hat??

Paul, we parted ways last night. In fact as I type this my wife is picking him up and taking him to get his rental car. He is taking his son to Dorney Park today (Illiya is a bit "trucked out" and Dad wants to give him some non-truck time...lol) and then they are departing the area for Niagara Falls, then to Ct- I think there was discussion of meeting Matt Pfahl, perhaps you might be able to get it there????? Then I **think** his intention was to drop the car at Kennedy and his buddy from Jersey picks him up, has him overnight and then drops him back at Kennedy Saturday early afternoon. I could have that wrong though,

Here is a link to my photobucket with pix of Macungie 2013 and our visit to the Mahon Family "Truck Farm" in Basking Ridge NJ on Sunday 6/16- however not all of the Mahon pix posted because I ran out of room. I apologize in advance, I am sort of new to photobucket, I re-activated an old account that I forgot I had. I have to go in and organize everything into albums- right now its just one big jumble of Macungie 2013, The Mahon Collection, FDNY and Philadelphia Fire Department apparatus pictures, some FWD firetrucks, and some other misc. crap. Please feel free to go in and look around. I hope to organize it all into albums soon, and maybe pay the people to get some more storage space. http://s631.photobucket.com/user/yardo1075/library/?sort=3&page=1
