Be careful......You know those notices in the newspaper, in the classified ads- the ones that no one ever bothers to read??? The ones that say "At the regular meeting of suchandsuch township, to be held on May 1, 2013, proposed ordinance (#343, proposed February 1, 2013) will be voted on by the Board of Supervisors. Comments will be heard by all those residents who express interest in doing so yadda yadda blah blah." This is/was your "notice" and was also your opportunity to voice disgust. When you investigate the matter, ask what their procedures are to publicize the vote for adoption of the ordinance, and also ask to see a "proof of publication" (an official document that the newspaper has to give to the municipality which shows it was properly published in the newspapaper.)

JT if you "Tent" camp I am pretty sure you can toss a tent where they let folks park their RV's. Also I have seen guys throw a tarp over the backs of their tractors before and sleep under them!!! KEN: I might be able to be talked into dinner on Thurs night. On Saturday night a bunch of us get together and have dinner at the Fogelsville Inn if you are interested you are more than welcome, anyone is of course!!! I get together with a bunch of Sterling Truck guys and Infamous Author Robert Gabrick, a close friend of mine- he has written a boatload of books on trucks.

Yup...Call Giles and Ransome Caterpillar in Bensalem, Pa. have your credit card handy and order a single analysis kit over the phone- IIRC costs like $16.95 or so. That includes the kit (sample bottle, overpack bottle, draw tube, paid/labeled shipping tyvek envelope and the paperwork..) PLUS it includes the cost of the analysis itself. You cant go wrong- for less than $20 bucks you get an idea of what your engine is doing internally. Giles and Ransome Cat will analyze any make/model of engine- I send them a sample from the Waukesha gasser in my firetruck every other year just to see whats going on.

Check with VINELAND AUTO ELECTRIC in Vineland New Jersey, They have a website. Speak with JOE BERTINO, They specialize in antique alternators/starters/starterators, but most especially anything that was on Macks (a lot of Delco-Remy I believe...) Joe himself has restored several Macks. Good people. Not the cheapest, but all of their stuff is TOP SHELF QUALITY and your work is done right the FIRST TIME. -
Rowdy: Can you get a written copy of the ordinance and post it here or email it to me? We need to see if it has any language in it about pre-existing conditions. Also, you need to see what zoning district your land is in- if it is zoned in any way that would allow for outdoor storage of nuisance vehicles, junk, or otherwise you may have a fight in that the newly passed ordinance contradicts the zoning ordinance's allowable use of a junkyard/storage site. I am a Code Enforcement Officer in the suburbs of Philly....Dont hate me.....I might be able to help you fight them!!! First thing you need to do: Either in person by filing a "Right to Know Request" you need to request copies of paperwork that document their "previous efforts" to contact you- when they accept your written RTK request, ask them to stamp it "RECEIVED" and for a photocopy.........OR, send them a registered letter w/return receipt requesting the same. In any case you need to DOCUMENT your request for the documents of their previous attempts. If they state that there are no documents showing previous attempts, tell them you want THAT in writing.

2013 ATCA Macungie Show June 14, 15, 2013
1958 F.W.D. replied to fxfymn's topic in Truck Shows and Events
I'm game for Thursday night, unless I have to go to get Vlad in Manhattan which I volunteered to do, unless he takes the bus here from the PA Bus Terminal. -
Vlad if you are coming to Macungie on Thursday, you will see plenty of trucks on Thurs/Friday.....The bulk of the show of course is on Saturday (last year's number of trucks on Saturday was 600+) however don't forget that you can also see the Mack Macungie Assembly Plant- you take a self-guided walking tour of the plant which is shut down for the day, The walk is about 1km total length. This is where most of the North American chassis are assembled. There is a free bus (sponsored by Mack) that takes you from the show grounds over to the plant and to the museum as well. The temperature is usually about 29c - 32c....so pack appropriate clothes. Bring a hat, or buy a Mack Trucks hat at the show!!!!! Don't rent a car in New York. It will be very expensive and it will also be expensive to park it. Wait until you get to Macungie. Google "Enterprise Car Rental." You could get your rental at Lehigh Valley Airport or another local Enterprise Agency and for much cheaper than if you rent it in New York. To get from New York City to Macungie, if we time it right I could pick you up in Manhattan on Wednesday Night. Or, you could take a BIEBER bus ($24.00 one way) from the Port Authority Bus Terminal (48th Street & 8th Avenue) right to my town, Hellertown. http://www.biebertourways.com/active/2013-2-26/NYC%203-2013.pdf I can pick you up at the bus stop and then get you to where you have to go. My wife is around during the day and she can help too, I am at work from about 8:30am and get home about 5:30pm. I have already taken off from work for the Friday of Macungie, and plan on driving my firetruck out to the show then. Plan on being at the "Family Style" Cookout at Macungie on Friday Night. It is a very popular party. You will experience an American Barbeque with hamburgers and hotdogs and all of the fare that comes with it. I will be there and many of your friends from here will be there as well. Keep in mind that New York City is very expensive!!!!

Vlad as I have said before, if you need any kind of help just let me know. I live about 30km from Macungie. There are several hotels in the area where you could possibly stay. If you are coming for Macungie this year you better act fast to reserve a room. The show this year is June 14-15, just about a month away. Sometime this weekend I will try to select 4 or 5 of them for you. Most hotels in the USA you can book reservations online from your computer. If you need to be picked up at the airport in New York City, Newark New Jersey or in Philadelphia, Pa. I can pick you up there too. I live in Hellertown, Pennsylvania, a small community next to the City of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. Any kind of help you need in or around Macungie please do not hesitate to ask. I can also help you see things in New York City, or Philadelphia Pa or anywhere in between. My email is yardo@rcn.com if you need to email me. Looking forward to seeing you this year or next year!!!!!

Hey achiefire, former Federal FF here, I was assigned to the Naval Air Warfare Center/Aircraft Division Fire Dept- Warminster Pa. 1995-1997, then to the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard Fire Dept 1997-1998 then to the US Army Fire Department/Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland 1998-2005.Left the federal service (in good standing) because I was pissed at the Pay Reform Act when the beancounters lost the lawsuit that gave us time and a half for hour #40 through hour #72, so they said "ok since thats O/T we're not paying into your retirement." I had enough of the political bullshit plus the 135 mile one-way commute to APG from my home. (I did shift exchanges and worked 3 straight to get 3 or 4 straight off but the having to do S/E's in one pay period got old....) Lots of other reasons too. Still am an avid Philly/New York buff and a volunteer so I keep my toes wet. I own a 1958 FWD Model F-725 750/500 #F80438.

2013 ATCA Macungie Show June 14, 15, 2013
1958 F.W.D. replied to fxfymn's topic in Truck Shows and Events
No, but there IS a Tilted Kilt in Allentown, literally 5 minutes from the Museum!!! -
Non synchronized trannies obviously are not the same as synchronized. It's all in matching the input and output shaft speeds (for the most part....lol.....) Now I have to remember to bring that article to work and scan it for you and leversole......
-
I will be there with the wife and "small." "Medium" and "large" will be at their grandmother's place in Vegas.
-
Do you get Wheel of Times Magazine??? It's the publication of ATCA.......They just had a great article on double-clutching and shifting. If you dont have access to it let me know and I will scan it and email it to you, its good reading even if you are experienced.
-
Ken scrape down that 5th wheel and then re-grease it!!!!

I want to make or buy a gasket/o-ring for the clutch master cylinder on The Mistress. The original one desintegrated years ago, and ever since then I have been making gaskets with gasket paper, but they keep blowing up. What material can I use that will stand up to the brake fluid??? Would a neoprene or nylon gasket work? What about a rubber o-ring? How about some old inner tube???? Suggestions? Thoughts? A penny for your thoughts??
-
Ahhhh 10-4 on that.

You know what a GMC is, right???? It's a Chevrolet with lock washers.......
