YES. You can come in Thurs OR Fri and leave on Saturday- which is when most folks take up- But I recommend timing it so that you dont depart Sat until late, say after 4-5pm, any earlier it's a tight zoo. Also recommend pre-registration, because the wait times to get in Thurs/Fri (and especially Sat AM) can be a while- if you pre-register you usually drive right in and maybe wait 2-3 trucks deep and no more than 5 mins.

Yes, please- for the love of god- Macungie is a day not to be mired by those who have no love of trucks. If you dont think she'll have a good time, she wont. Leave her at home. My wife and I have an understanding- I dont make HER go to any truck/firetruck/car shows and she doesnt make me go to any of her Longaberger Basket Shows. (although I will give her credit- she usually brings the kids over to Macungie later in the afternoon because she knows both myself and my father enjoy having them there for the fathers day aspect of it.....)Be prepared for a long, hot day. Dress comfy, wear a good hat and sunscreen. There is food and drinks for sale, but you might want to pack a small cooler with drinks- I always have a large cooler with bottles of water for BMT and other friends who stop by- as long as they stop telling people I put a Detroit under the hood of the FWD.

I have a friend that comes from Yonkers every year, with his buddy and the buddy's father who is a retired supervising mechanic for NYC Dept of Sanitation. They come every year on Saturday. It's an easy ride from the NYC area, however you would get to Interstate 78, into Pennsylvania past Allentown to the exit for Route 100. From the NYC area I would say 2.5hrs in early Saturday AM traffic. Yes the flea market is huge, you can buy almost anything truck related from brochures to spare parts to hats/tshirts to memoriabilia. You can hop a bus from the show ground in Macungie (free) which takes you to Mack's Macungie Plant and do your own "walking" tour of the assembly line which is shut down- wear comfy shoes it's over a mile walk. Then the bus will take you to the Mack Museum, and back to the show grounds. For you, if you want to save time, come to the show and then drive your car to the plant, then the museum as you have to pass them to leave. Oh and the show usually has 600+ trucks. If thats not good enough for you I dont know what is!!!!

I'm really thinking twice about having this group over to the house.....LOL!!! When I'm not looking, someone will install a Detroit in the FWD, all my beer will dissappear, Hooters girls and Tilted Kilt girls will show up (not that I have a problem with that, but Momma might if they dont bring buffalo wings with them.....) The neighbors will get pissed from all the bobtails doing burn-outs in the street........

Even though I live only 20 miles from Macungie I am tossing around the idea of tenting it this year on Friday night, just for the hell of it. Depends on how hot and humid it is......Can't sleep in humidity in my old age...lol

When the chips get small, and the dip level gets low in the jar, you say "Bitch, fetch me a new bag of chips and a new jar of dip!" Then, when she smashes the current jar over your head, you just use the small pieces of chip to scoop off the pieces of glass. I find also, that when you grind up the small chip pieces into a dough-like consistency and stuff them into the head wound that you now have, they stop the bleeding pretty well. Just dont let the dog start licking your now tasty head when she throws you outside.

Call Joe Bertino at Vineland Auto Electric in Vineland NJ. (They have a website, too.....google it...) They specialize in unique/antique automotive electrical systems. Joe himself has restored several Macks including an absolutely gorgeous 1937 Mack Firetruck. He can lead you in the right direction and may even be able to rebuild yours or might have an exchange unit in stock, obviously you would have to ship it to him. If/When you call or email him make sure you have the make/model/sn off the alternator.

My wife is a nurse at a major hospital system in Bethlehem Pa. They are so kind and considerate to their employees that they told them "you are required to report to work regardless of weather conditions. If you need to come in early or stay late you may use available hospital facilties (empty rooms, lounges etc) to sleep. Overtime will not be provided if you remain on site." yeah, right......28 inches and a State of Emergency later banning road traffic except to emergency personnel threw that whole "we aint paying overtime if you get fucked and have to stay" thing out the window because no one could get in, and even if they could they weren't ALLOWED!!! Nurses dont count as emergency traffic!!! Wife stayed for an extra 18 hours.

Dont laugh.....No Hooters around Macungie, but there IS a Tilted Kilt about ONE mile from the Mack Museum (closer if you didnt have to go AROUND the dang airport in the way!!!) Ken and I keep threatening to take our trucks there one day for a photo op.......

Right now it's a mixed bag here in Pa, just north of Philly......rain right now, but was snow and sleet a while ago. Expected to switch to all snow mid-afternoon and snow like hell all night long with 12"+ expected where I live close to Bethlehem Pa. Momma, who is a home-visit nurse has to work tomorrow, her Kia van is pretty good in slop but I'm thinking I may just allow her to take the 4WD Chevy Silverado tomorrow for her visits. Here's a pic of Mother Toro sitting next to Father FWD in the garage with Momma's van, one less vehicle for me to clean off. And if the snow gets too deep for the Chevy I can always take Father FWD on a B-Double-E-Double-R-U-N if I have to.....Snow has to be REAL deep to stop Father FWD.

I only live 20 miles from the show....There are a ton of events there however I may consider having a "BMT-Only" gathering at my house one of the evenings- maybe we can cook some animal flesh on my grill and consume mass quantities of barley and hoppes and howl at the moon. But no one goes into the garage....no one.

That basically means freedom for me to turn my head wherever I please......And there was one young lady there tonight (obviously working her way through nun school the poor lass....) natural redhead......my gawd........I was in love for about an hour and then she (the wife that is) said OK we have to leave now, and no you cannot bring her with us...........(dammit.) Ok Dad was driving for Charles E Danbury (trailer broker.) Pulled mostly new trailers out of the Trailmobile Factory in West Point Pa. not too far from where you dropped today. He had a Hayward F-Model, 300/5-speed/single Rockwell 2-speed axle. Great truck for pulling trailers only. Then he met Harry Muschlegal, who many of us know to be the founder and long-time president of JEVIC. At that time (early 19080's) Harry was leased onto Southwest Freight and then a little later to Mason-Dixon. Then Harry got together with a dozen owner operators and started what was to become JEVIC. The 12 original guys (my father was one of them) were known as The Dirty Dozen. I remember when I was 7-8 years old JEVIC was 15 trucks, none were the same color, all owner operators. By that time my father's Hayward F Model was getting tired and rusted out, and wasn't great for pulling freight- especially overweight high paying loads that Harry took- So Dad bought an Allentown F-Model with a 300+ and a 10 speed and twin screws. At that time, when the ICC de-regulated the operating authority laws, Dad set up his own operating authorities for many of the 48 states. Harry knew this and after a while when JEVIC began buying company trucks, he asked Dad to come into the office for a few weeks and help set up his ICC authorities. Told Dad he would put a driver in his truck so that Dad could still make the payments, so Dad agreed. Dad likes to tell the story to this day about "his 2-week desk job turned into 26 years." He retired in 2005, 4 years before JEVIC went tits-up. I would love to have an F-Model, I would REALLY love to have that Hayward F-Model. And RandyM yeah you gotta catch up to me sooner next time!!!! Yup I would advise the ADA that not only will I scream at the top of my lungs from the tallest building that he is weak on crime, but I will also make sure he knows that his bosses know that all my neighbors WHO VOTE FOR HIS BOSSES will know about it. Hit him where it hurts- at the polls.

It's broken down in North Carolina......" Well shit, let me just pull my "Guide to GMC Axle Parts in North America" out of my back pocket and see..... Anyways, a friend of a friend is broken down in NC, dont know exactly where; will know more tomorrow. I am told he needs a 3.55 rear for a 4104, however the 3.55 rear for a 3751 will also work. I told him try to find the entire axle assembly because if the bearings or pilots or anything else is shot you'll have a better chance at piecing two of them together into one. Any ideas? Did you ask them why the massive increase and tell them you were unhappy and refused to pay it? Also I would not have dropped their coverage until you have new coverage, thats just asking for trouble. Shop around though. Did you have it through your own liability carrier for your everyday driver? How long have you been with them? Get a hold of your agent and scream bloody muder- tell him yer not gonna put up with that shit, that they have to sharpen the pencil or you are WALKING and taking EVERYTHING with you- the house, the everyday drivers, all of it.
