  1. Load- I will send an email to Harvey Eckert (Mr Mack) and see if he knows, or might know who would know.
  2. I put two Deka's in the FWD back in 2002 and they are still going good today- although lately in the cold weather whenever I go to fire her up once every 2-3 weeks they do kinda drag a little, but then she lights off......I guess I can't complain for batteries 11+ years old......If NAPA is having a sale mebbe I should do a pre-emptive strike.......hmmmmmm.......
  3. Anyone know who makes NAPA's batteries???
  4. I wish ya got some pix of that fire truck, too- very unusual to have the pump panel on the passenger side like that. I have heard George Strait is top-shelf people. I got to meet two country stars- John Michael Montgomery and Trace Adkins. Met both of them when I was a Federal Firefightrer at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Md. They were there to do shows for the US Army WMR Summer Comcert Series. The Fire Dept (of course) always had exclusive backstage access- have to check those fire extinguishers and paths of egress ya know.....JMM was coming offstage after doing his set, shook our hands and invited us into his area, but he was very busy doing celebrity things, but his people were very cordial and gave us t-shirts and pre-signed CD's. Another show a few years later we had the pumper parked out back next to Trace Adkins's bus. It was a few hours before showtime. TA came outside from the recreation building where he was doing a meet-and-greet. We were caught with our pants down, didnt know he was "around and about" and we were just in our work uniforms (pants/t-shirts) and not our dress blouses which we should have had on (had we known.) He comes right over to us and greets us all like old buddies and asks if he could get some pics with us and the pumper. His photographer took some shots of him and us, and him in the driver seat. He signed the sun visor of the driver seat, too. He wanted a tour of the rig, so we showed him everything, inside all the compartments, the tools, etc. He asked some really good questions, and even tried on an air pack. Down to earth guy, big, too- about 6'3". Spent about a half hour with us, then excused himself. 5 mins later he re-appeared from the bus holding a case of cold cokes- he says "I'm pretty sure you guys cant have the case of what I was GONNA give ya, but I dont think anyone would mind you having these!" Classy guy.
  5. If you do have pictures of your U-Model please post the cereal number.
  6. You can email Don at mack.museum@macktrucks.com. with the serial numbers. Your request will take about 8 weeks +/- to process. And yes as mentioned they will ask for a donation. But what you'll get is well worth it.
  7. mmmmmmmmmmm Hayward F-Model......I'm hornyyyyyyyyy.......
  8. I replied back to him on FB that everyone on here wished him well with his battle against the swine flu and he apparently had a good giggle over that, said he needed to stop by here. I posted a link right into this conversation to him. Hopefully we'll see him soon to understand how to better avoid contracting the swine flu.
  9. Factory-made "sedan cab" B's are rare but they do exist. I think Rockville, Md. may still have one.
  10. Had Condon and Skelly (Met Life) for a few years but then they switched to a different underwriter that I did not like, so I switched to JC Taylor. Outstanding folks, no problems. $165 a year for the FWD Firetruck with some decent (above state minimum) coverage.
  11. I can't remember which electric pump I have on the 1958 FWD feeding the Waukesha, if I remember I'll look tomorrow. Works well. Have it feeding through the original "stone" type fuel filter and through a large Fram cannister filter, no starving issues at all.
  12. Look on the bright side- at least it doesnt have a 2-stroke mechanical asshole under the hood!
  13. Randy P just checked in with me on Facebook, said to tell everyone that he is just now getting over that flu bug, but he says hello to everyone and will be back on here sometime soon.
  14. Carl- thanks for the tip. I just looked- the asking price (and value) of this particular truck is well beyond what that gentleman is willing to pay.
  15. For Sale by private party: 1978 Hahn pumper, model series HCP. 1250 GPM Hale Pump, 750 gallon tank. -671-T Detroit Diesel Engine (first truck built by Hahn with a turbocharged engine) Allison HT740 automatic transmission. **I am not the owner, just an interested party with sentimental attachment to the truck who is getting word out for the current owner in the interest of getting it to a collector rather than the scrap heap.** Truck delivered new to the Bryn Athyn Fire Company, Bryn Athyn (Montgomery County, Pa. Company 11) May of 1978. Truck sold to the current owner in 2007. Truck currently located in northern Bucks County, Pa. Message me for further details.
  16. Great song, great video. I think I saw some shots taken on I-78 or I-80 in Jersey, and was that bridge going across the inlet on Rt 36 (or is it 38?) in Aberdeen NJ? Dont know if anyone has been in that area lately but they got their asses kicked by Sandy, have a good friend who lives in Port Monmouth that lost EVERYTHING- you guys may have seen me post about that back after Sandy happened. I wish I had more pics of my Dad's two F-Model tractors. I do have some pics of his Mercedes tractor, from when he was driving for Charles E. Danbury- some pics pulling some pups and a double or triple set of decked flatbeds.
  17. I'm in Bethlehem, Pa. I can make Staten Island in an hour and 15 mins in early morning traffic conditions, I dont think a hotel is necessary, I could prolly make the trip there and back in one day!!! Time is tight for the next coupla months with the boys in wrestling- have tournaments just about every weekend until mid-march. PM me your contact info. You still on the job? I think we chatted once before- in Bklyn if I remember right???
  18. I certainly hope that I am wrong too....but.....were it a fuel problem, I dont think you would have had the rough idling and then the puff of white smoke and no more go go, although its not unheard of. But the white smoke is suspicious. Another suggestion- wipe your finger in the end of the exhaust and sniff...(the truck, not your bunghole....) do you smell that sweet/sour smell like coolant/anti-freeze?? If you do, dat aint good. Where is your rig located, I might be able to take a ride and diagnose for you if necessary.
  19. Nice legs! She looks cold. Did you offer to buy her coffee, for which she should have offered to have warmed up your ears for in return.......
  20. What can Brown do to....I mean for you?
  21. I hate to do this to you but the white smoke does not sound good. Almost sounds to me like you may have blown a head gasket and you have a hydraulic lock-up going on somewhere. Pull your dipstick and see if you can see water or foam on it- thats NFG. Open your radiator cap and see what the coolant looks like- if it looks foamy, creamy, really brownish...thats NFG. FDNY used off-the-shelf Mack engines, END611's, 673's, 250 or 260HP. They weren't Maxidynes and they weren't Econodynes.
  22. All depends on the muffler.....I know of one C Model Firetruck with a 707 that is super quiet when it is idling....
  23. AHHHHHHHHHHHH! Dont do that without a warning!!!
  24. Says in the description that there is lots of rust in the compartments. Anyone that knows anything about Mack's fire bodies knows......it will rust, and it will rust BAD if left unchecked!!!!!!
