  1. Ken, if you mean a Streakin' Beacon or one of those, there are not any truck stops in close proximity. Closest truck stop with an auto wash or employee washers would be the Pilot on I-78 at exit (????- not too far out) in New Jersey. There is a do-it-yourself wash with a high bay in my town (Hellertown) on Main Street (412) get off 78 at Exit 67. If you want more info get up with me. Got my confirm today as well. I will be there with the 1958 FWD Firetruck on Saturday. May arrive a bit late as the boys have a 9:00am soccer game, they usually take about an hour, and we're going to leave right from the game I think.
  2. dayum!!!! There's my 58' Plymouth Fury!!!! Except I would have to have the red/white one <------ christine I think one of the neatest things he has in his collection is the original "Nelly Belle" Jeep from The Lone Ranger TV show.....(actually it's owned by his ladyfriend...)
  3. Theres only one way in there- so she better take you that way, if not you might be crossing airport runways and homeland security kinda frowns on that!!!!!
  4. not to change the subject but if that Collegeville Pa is the Montgomery County (not far from Philly) Collegeville, thats not too far from me and I could go look at it if you wanted me too. Getting back to the broads- Carry on.
  5. By the way, for anyone who needs directions: The Mack Trucks Customer Support Center and Musem is located off of Lehigh Avenue behind Queen City Airport. Interstate 78 to the Lehigh Ave exit. North on Lehigh St (towards the airport.) Turn LEFT onto VULTEE Street (traffic light at the firehouse.) Go to Grammes Road, turn RIGHT onto Grammes. Go to end. LEFT onto LEHIGH PKWY S to dead end at Mack's gate.
  6. By the way folks, change in plans for me- Momma forgot to tell me that Friday night the 26th is the trick-or-treat night in our town (They always do it the friday night before the true Halloween....yes its fucked up, yes it's a blasphemous communist idea but lets discuss it another time.....) and I will have to be home to take the Men trick or treating as Momma has a slightly busted ankle right now. I apologize to anyone who may have wanted to bum a ride from me to/from their hotel to save driving their tractors. I will be at the show on Saturday with the 1958 FWD Firetruck and look forward to seeing everyone.
  7. It states on the application that you must be a member of one of the folliowing: ATCA, ATHS, SPAAMFAA or a chapter of SPAAMFAA.
  8. Speaking of H & K the show at JH's house is this Saturday.
  9. I have a friend who now owns what is left of Tiedeken Bros. Wagon & Body works (425 Van Hook St, Camden NJ) including the original buildings and all rights to the name and their designs and drawings. They made horse-drawn and motorized carriages, delivery wagons/trucks, reefer trucks (back in the day of ice-block powered cooling) and later on bodies for motorized trucks. Camden Beer and many other big names in south jersey. I had my FWD stored there for a while, all of the old original "works" for the centrally-powered machinery is still attached to the ceiling including pulleys, leather belts, chains, etc.
  10. IIRC the cab was "gone." Plain and simple....any work on it would have resulted in it's dissolving into dust. LOL
  11. I see H & K's Titan going up and down 309 pretty regularly.
  12. Genos and Pats are nothing but overpriced tourist traps. Go to Tony Lukes, on Oregon Avenue, between Front Street and Packer Ave (IIRC) they are almost right under I-95. When I was a firefighter at the Phila Naval Shipyard FD, we would get breakfast sammiches there every saturday- scrambled eggs, country sausage, cheese and potatoes on a hoagie roll- enough for breakfast and lunch or breakfast for 2 guys!!!! And their roast pork sammiches rock! And of course the cheese steaks.
  13. I have a feeling we wont be seeing him posting again..............
  14. Sorry, I'm going to speak the truth here and you wont like it. A driver is always responsible for being aware of the conditions and operations of his vehicle, despite federal, state or local regulations/standards and or internal company policies. You state "Are they required to post the height decal?" I counter that with "why dont YOU know for yourself what the max height of your vehicle (including the roll off container) is- Dont you have to plan your route around low bridges accordingly or do you always wait until you arrive at the scene of the crime to see the height signs and then decide to play "Russian Bridge Roulette?" And as for the transmission- whether it is supposed to shift into neutral or not is beside the point- why didn't YOU shift it into neutral and verify that it was in neutral YOURSELF? No offense, but it sounds like you had two different accidents that could have been prevented, you got called out onto the carpet for it, and you are now looking for an escape. I probably would have fired you too if I were your boss.
  15. There were also some Chrysler V-8's installed in some B-Model Firetrucks, made specially for the US Gov't. One was on eBay not that long ago.
  16. That color looks sharp!!! Whole rig looks good so far!!!!
  17. I said something about the slant-6 "being engineered by Mack to counter-balance the U-Model" a few weeks ago...i think in the same paragraph about how the guy who engineered something as screwed up as the U-Model must have been an engineer for Mopile.
  18. Jay my thoughts are with you and your family in your time of loss.
  19. Painted names are not easy to do. I have worked on several firetrucks, and 75% of the time you lose the battle and have to sand down to bare metal and re-paint the panel. You can try wet-sanding starting with a course grain and working your way up to 1000 or 2000. Be careful with the oven cleaner, especially on older paints. I only use that to remove adhesives, but it might work for you or it just might eat your paint. Give the wet sanding a try. Also try soft-scrub and a green scrubbie, followed by a wet sanding, that occasionally works.
  20. Does it matter? We all need to show our lust errrrr ahhhhh I mean support of these fine, upstanding young ladies who are working their way through nun cleavage.....I mean college.
  21. They look just like you!
  22. I never knew that the Outboard Marine Corporation got involved in so many off-the-water uses......lawn mowers, heavy trucks.....
  23. That was fucking OUTSTANDING!!!! Now I have to clean off the computer screen!!!!
  24. OK I RSVP'd for the dinner at Mack on Friday night. If anyone wants me to pick them up for the dinner the offer still stands. Ken- I assume you still want shotgun???
  25. OK, I'll call over today and get in on that. And yes perhaps we can head over to the TK afterwards to lend our support to the young lasses working their way through nun college.
