I just wanted to take a minute and say Happy Birthday to one of my closest friends- The Honorable Tommy Blackwell. He is a good friend and a true confidant. He is my consigliere for all matters concerning tying down flatbed loads as well as for smoking meats (except for the placement of my smoking vessel in relation to my shed.) He got me my first pit barrel smoker- he says he got it for me because I am a good guy and because I turned him on to the Macungie truck show, but I think it's really because he is performing some kind of weird Southern science experiment by seeing if a Yankee can turn out some good ribs and pork. No....In all seriousness he was a very generous guy. I always tell him I am indebted to him, but I know that I am not because his heart is as big as some winfall wimmin's bo....errrr never mind, his heart is huge and he truly wanted me to have it. We don't see each other often (Macungie and maybe once or twice a year when he delivers around Bethlehem and he calls me to do dinner) but we always havegood time when we do see one another. Happy Birthday Tommy, I hope you had a great day!!!

Hey Engine1252, Welcome. I assume you are originally from Lansdale. I have a similar story to you- I now own Bryn Athyn's old 1958 F.W.D. pumper which is the first truck I ever rode on. My dad took me to a parade in Bridgeport when I was three and a half. I bought it in 2001 from the small town in south Jersey that bought it from Bryn Athyn in July of 1978. We also own the 1978 Hahn pumper that replaced the F.W.D. so we own two generations of Engine 1102. Ignition system parts are easy. Contact Joe Bertino at Vineland Auto Electric in Vineland NJ. He is a member of SPAAMFAA and owns an old Mack himself. They specialize in electrical system components on modern and antique fire apparatus. As for the Mack Museum, it is completely shut down right now due to the health crisis, and Staff is not working. It is not known when they will start back up, it is assumed when the national crisis has been declared safe and all states of emergencies have been rescinded. Even under normal circumstances, you would be asked to submit museum requests by this link: https://www.macktruckshistoricalmuseum.org/contact-us/ A suitable donation is requested. Requests are processed in the order in which received. Normally the wait is 4-6 weeks but I can only imagine there will be a backup when this is all said and done.

There are many (myself included) who think he is a hero that was setup by some butt hurt individuals in a 5-sided building that had this called to their attention by a few hundred mommies of 19-year old Seaman Apprentice ............(insert a few hundred last names here) who all threatened to go to their elected officials if they did nothing about it. There are several conflicting news stories. All say that he leaked this to his local hometown news outlet as well as national news outlets and to Naval sources not within his chain of command. Many people want to crucify him for violation OPSEC by revealing to our enemies that one of our most valuable assets was compromised. Bullshit. You do not become the Skipper of a nuclear powered bird farm by being an idiot. This guy had a stellar career. I do not believe for one second that he did anything he was accused of other than stomping his feet a little harder (the letter) when someone told him by other communication "Deal with it. Get to port." Word travels fast on any Ship. His birdfarm has 5700 +/- on board. How many of the 5700 are Seamen Apprentices who were on their first deployment, away from home the first time.....Scared. Nervous.......Fighting an enemy that they could not see, let alone defend themselves against in the tight living spaces they had......How many let Mommy know what was happening, and how many Mommies called someone who called someone who called someone in a 5-sided building to say "Why is little Johnnies Mommy calling me to say the Navy doesnt give a shit?" Here is his curriculum vitae: Crozier grew up in Santa Rosa, California, graduating from Santa Rosa High School in 1988 prior to entering the U.S. Naval Academy.[6] After graduating in 1992, he became a Naval Aviator and was assigned as a SH-60B Seahawk pilot at Barbers Point, Hawaii.[7] He received his Master’s Degree in National Security and Strategic Studies from the Naval War College in 2007, and completed Nuclear Power School in 2014. Crozier was designated a naval aviator in 1994. Following completion of flight training, he was assigned to HSL-37 in Barbers Point, Hawaii, as a SH-60B Seahawk pilot. He deployed on board USS Crommelin and USS Fletcher in support of operations in the Pacific Ocean and Operation Southern Watch in the Persian Gulf. Crozier then reported to Navy Personnel Command in 1999 as an aviation detailer and retention program manager. Following this tour, he completed an aircraft transition to the F/A-18 Hornet and in 2002 reported to VFA-97 in Lemoore, California. While assigned to the "Warhawks" he deployed with USS Nimitz in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) in 2003. In 2004, Crozier reported to VFA-94 as a department head and deployed with the "Mighty Shrikes" on board Nimitz in 2005 again in support of OIF. Crozier was assigned to VFA-125 in 2006 and served as an instructor and FRS Operations Officer. Following this tour with the "Rough Raiders," he reported in 2007 to the Naval War College and earned a Master's Degree in National Security and Strategic Studies. Crozier served as the executive officer and squadron commanding officer of VFA-94, a F/A-18 Hornet unit. He made multiple deployments in support of U.S. 3rd, 5th, and 7th Fleet operations, numerous exercises and Operations Southern Watch and OIF. In August 2010, Crozier completed an assignment as the commanding officer of VFA-94 in Lemoore. During this tour, he led his squadron on successful expeditionary deployments with Marine Aircraft Group 12 based out of MCAS Iwakuni, Japan, in support of Pacific operations and the Global War on Terror. Following command, Crozier reported to Naval Striking and Support Forces NATO in Naples, Italy and served as the Lead Air Planner for Joint Task Force Odyssey Dawn and Combined Joint Task Force Deputy Director of Targeting for NATO's Operation Unified Protector. In April 2014, Crozier completed the Naval Nuclear Power training program and served as the executive officer of USS Ronald Reagan until July 2016. During this tour Ronald Reagan took part in RIMPAC 2014, two maintenance availabilities, the forward deployment to Yokosuka, Japan to relieve USS George Washington as the only forward deployed aircraft carrier, and several FDNF deployments in the PACOM AOR.[9] In June 2017, Crozier took command of USS Blue Ridge in Yokosuka, Japan, while the ship completed an extensive dry-dock refit and then returned to operations at sea. No. This is not an idiot. I am absolutely convinced he was set up by someone who either knew they fucked up, or that they knew they were screwed if/when word of this hit the POTUS's desk.

I agree. I was really pissed this morning because previously they stated that they would make a decision on 4/30. I am not involved in the planning for it, nevertheless I can only imagine how much work it is and how many resources there are to organize. As today wore on, I got less pissed off and cooled down, and now I have placed my faith in the hands of the Powers in Charge, and I respect their decision.

For those of you not on Facebook, put out by ATCA on their page this morning: After thoughtful consideration, The ATCA Board of Directors has decided to cancel the 2020 National Meet at Macungie. Concern for the health and safety of our members combined with government social restrictions left no alternative. Currently, our business office is closed, but our office manager is able to access email and voicemails. Refunds will be made for show preregistrations when normal business resumes. We will post any updates on the ATCA website and on Facebook. ATCA asks all of our friends to follow all health precautions from the CDC and to remain aware of all requirements handed down by federal, state, and local authorities. We ask you to carefully consider if it would be wise to cancel or reschedule your chapter meetings & functions including shows during this period of crowd size restrictions. ATCA will not request or authorize insurance certificates for chapter events pending a rollback of the government imposed social distancing requirements.

They said they flagged down some old carmudgeon carmugeon carmudgin cranky old guy in an FL Moore Truck and asked him for a ride and he told them he was in a hurry and didn't have any time. So they saw me and asked if I would give them a ride to dinner at the Olive Garden in Lake Buena Vista, so I did.

FireMech I volunteer at the museum. We absolutely have manuals. Please use the "Contact us" on the Museum's sub-section of the corporate website and request a manual. A suitable donation is requested. Thank you!!

Correct. They started building entire trucks (including aerial devices) with the acquisition of some smaller body builders as well as LTI (now LTC) for the aerials.
-
This is a direct result of the loss of the FDNY pumper contract, for which they were all hired.
-
This is huge news in the Fire Apparatus world. What the article did not mention is the fact that the REV group has also acquired fire apparatus builders E-One (Ocala , Florida) KME (Nesquohoning, Pa.) and Ferrara (Holden, Louisiana) all within the last 2-3 years and now with the acquisition of Spartan many of us are wondering how the FTC did not become involved as all four builders are among the top sellers in the firetruck world......How can this not be considered a monopoly? Regardless, anyone who works at EOne, Ferrara or KME have all stated that operations and morale at all 3 have gone down the toilet since REV took over. KME also lost the pumper contract for FDNY- they were not able to deliver them quickly enough (within the contract) so New York City said "Bye" and granted the remainder of the contract to Seagrave in Clintonville, Wi. (a long-time seller to FDNY.)

That could have been his two story Falcon (Don't know what color it was) or the Mercedes tractor (red) the Hayward F-Model was mid to late 70's and was two-tone white and dark green.
-
Which one? The green/white single screw Hayward F-Model or the white Allentown tandem F-Model? I logged a lot of miles riding shotgun in both trucks, but wow what I would give to have that single screw Hayward....(300/5-speed.) He put 700,000 miles on that thing when it finally started falling apart from the rot. By then he had started working for Harry Muschlegel (Jevic) and needed a tandem. The single screw was great for pulling new trailers but it was no bueno for freight work. On another note, both Lee and Don Hale (Chuck's two oldest sons) were at the church on Saturday, I hadn't seen them in years. Was good to see them, suck circumstances though. What is your name?

I am intrigued, tell me more!!!???

https://www.legacy.com/obituaries/mcall/obituary.aspx?n=sandra-h-yardumian&pid=195034901 For you guys not on the Fazebooks, my mom passed away Saturday 1/11/2020 after a brief illness that was attributed to the dimentia she had been suffering from for the past 4-6 years (maybe longer.) Mom and Dad met on a blind date while in the US Navy. He was aboard the USS Seneca ATF91 and she was a Hospital Corpsman at the Philadelphia Naval Hospital. Dad's ship was a 205' fleet oceangoing tug home ported in Little Creek but they tied up at Pier 3 at the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard often. A buddy of his hooked them up. Mom grew up in Walnutport Pa and her family didn't have two nickels to scratch together. She knew that enlisting was the only way she could get out of dodge and to obtain an education. She enlisted in Allentown Pa. When she went to see the detailer, he asked her where she wanted to go- she said "Germany, Japan, Italy..Someplace foreign and exotic overseas....." She got orders for foreign exotic South Philadelphia and boy was she PISSED at the Navy and for the rest of her life she cussed them like a sailor....But she did meet Dad so that was good or I guess I wouldn't be writing this. With the help of a friend, a flag was hoisted yesterday over the USNS COMFORT, one of the Navy's two hospital ships. The flag is enroute to me as we speak by fedex and should be delivered tomorrow for her funeral on Saturday. If anyone can ever choose to learn the way a close relative dies, pick the sudden, unexpected phone call advising "So and So had a heart attack and has passed away" because this watching someone die for three weeks sucks....I don't know how people can do it for months or a year or more.

6 mil vapor barrier and slab insulation required by most building codes for any accessory building over 1000 S/F
-
As a building inspector. mirroring what others have said, its all in the sub grade prep. I highly recommend a minimum of 4000psi, fiber reinforced early high, and 6x6wwm. I also highly recommend in-slab heat.

"Small" (who is now 8 and not so small anymore) number one request for Xmas 2019 was a game called "Farm Simulator." He also has some kind of truck game where he can drive a Freightliner conventional, some kind of Russian Army wheeled tank hauler thing, and a bunch of other vehicles. He loves them but he really loves driving the tractors, combines, etc on the Farm Simulator.

David Wild, you misspelled the title of this thread. The correct spelling is "Re-Elected."

What do I think of it? I am trying not to.
