Among other issues, yes that is one of them. Lots of rot, the aerial is not certified, the list goes on. For 19,500 he'd better at least offer a current certification. Ask him what he paid for it........

And isn't worth 1950.00 let alone 19,500.

No, the recipes are all videos on their website. Here is a recipe I created on my own, which I did at the picnic at Macungie as well as the Mack Museum Christmas Party: Smoke Roast Beef One (or more!) round roasts Yellow Mustard Dry Rub Spices -Start your charcoal according to the device instructions (I use a chimney) while waiting for the charcoal to get going, rinse the (room temperature) roast beef in warm water, pat dry with a paper towel. Apply yellow mustard liberally, coating the entire roast. Then apply the dry rub to suit your tastes. Put the charcoal into the pit barrel (I find it MUCH easier to pour the chimney activated charcoal into the empty basket OUT of the barrel, put the remaining un-fired charcoal on top of the fired charcoal, and then use heavy welding gloves to drop the basket into the barrel.) Then hang the meat. Put the lid on and for a three to four pound round roast, it will take 2-4 hours to develop an internal temp of 160 degrees (a very pink and juicy medium) I like it less pink (but not destroyed.) so I bring it up to about 165 internal temp. It all looks intimidating but once you get the hang of it you will be fine. Just don't do any expensive cuts right out of the gate- no briskets or rib roasts until you get the hang of it!!!! -

Get the basic 18.5" $299 set (no add-ons.) Yes it is worth every penny and if you are not a good cook or you have never had a smoker before, it is perfect. As long as you follow the "basic" instructions (with a little fine-tuning/trial-and-error of your own as you go along) you will love it. Check out their website, they have a lot of great videos on how to use it and also a lot of recipes, too. If you need any help along the way you are welcome to contact me. -
Does not get any more simple. I like to be able to come on certain forums and read what everyone has to say about what is going on in this country- except that commie pinko gearheadgirlllllll or whatever the heck her name was. She really took things WAY too far to the left. Mind you left is not necessarily a bad thing, but these days JFK is spinning in his grave at what has become of the Democratic Party. But I digress. If you don't like or don't want to read what folks have to say, simply move on to the next topic.

Correct. But I believe Brocky is asking if anyone on here regularly uses or knows of a reputable shop with knowledgeable personnel that will not take his son for a ride.

............and on the news tonight, Harleyt Davidson first big corporation to announce that they are moving some production to Europe as a direct result of the retaliatory tarriffs being placed on american products. He is doing well domestically but his foreign policy sucks. That is all. Carry on.

After my father got out of the Navy in 1963, he went to work at Univac in Blue Bell, Pa. and worked on Univac when they had boatloads of NASA/Apollo money. He was a machinist and mostly worked on printers and other hardware. Met Admiral Grace Hopper once.

Anyone read the one written by the furniture mover? Can't remember the title. Was "OK".

You will find that the ones priced below 10K are privately owned, have massive rot throughout the bodies and the aerial has more than likely failed inspection. Anything else runs higher as the booms are being dropped onto new chassis. Engine issues? If it is a Mack engine and has been taken care of, what engine issues?

Thank You! City boy here.....LOL

So...... I have always loved to cook (my mom started teaching me when I was 9 or 10) and always did the cooking in the firehouse and to this day cook big and/or extravagant meals on holidays. You guys may recall last year, I was in the market for a smoker. I was asking some of the guys on here about them, and Otherdog talked me into buying a pit barrel smoker (www.pitbarrelcooker.com) So I asked the wife to get me one fathers day if she was going to get anything. (For fathers day she usually gets me something Macungie-related like a pop-up awning, or a small charcoal grill, or chairs, portable tables, stuff like that.....) So Macungie came, and so did Otherdog who surprised us all for the first time. He kept asking me "Well did she get it for you?" And I had to tell him "No, looks like we cannot afford one right now. I'll have to wait, maybe I will work some overtime and save up." So the Tuesday after Macungie, I get home from work and walk into the mudroom and damn near fall over a big ass box and damn near break my neck. Seems that the UPS man delivered a Pit Barrel Smoker. The wife was asleep (she was due into work that night) so when I get home from work on her work nights, I wake her up so she can shower, eat and get out the door for 7pm. So I run upstairs and wake her up and kissed her twenty times exclaiming "You got it for me!!! You got it for me!!!" Well imagine my confusion when she says over and over again "What the hell are you talking about? What smoker? I didn't get the smoker for you!" So I checked my Amazon Prime account thinking maybe I bought it by accident when I was looking at it (yes I have done that...........) but nope....Nothing on the account. So I called Amazon and spoke to an account rep.....She traces it back to a (insert real name here...........) "Otherdog with a Gladys, Virginia mailing address." So I called Otherdog. The conversation went something like this. Me: "Hey I just got home and damn near broke my neck on a box inside my mud porch." OD: "huh, what was that?" Me: "A Pit Barrel Smoker." OD: "Huh so she got it for you!" Me: "Uh, no." OD: "Well where did it come from?" Me: "The Gladys Fairy delivered it." OD: "Huh. That Gladys Fairy sure is nice!" So after going back and forth for a few minutes I let him in on that I called Amazon and found out. And then I said "Look, while this is a tremendous gift and I sincerely appreciate your kindness and friendship, I want to say that I cannot accept this, however, I also know you well enough to know that if I tell you I can't take it that you will tell me to shove it up my ass, so I thank you from the bottom of my heart and you are a beautiful man." Then he told me that I was one of the big driving forces that made him take off from work for a few days to drive to Macungie for the show, and he had such a good time he wanted to do something nice for me and my family. So, since I don't live far from Macungie....I threw together a little pick-a-nick thing for some folks and woke my ass up at 0530 on Saturday, and was out there and at precisely 6:30am I hung three beef round roasts and one bone-in pork shoulder into the very smoker that he gave me as gift almost exactly one year later. And around 2:15pm I got to watch Otherdog munching down. We had a great time and I don't get mushy on here often but it was cool to make some grub for him and watch him enjoying hisself. So thanks again Otherdog and happy fathers day to you and all the other fathers on here!!! The smoker all loaded up at 6:30am The smoked bone-in pork shoulder, being prepped for shredding. Then we mixed in an Eastern North Carolina vinegar-based barbeque sauce that my wife made. Picture of me starting to slice the three roast beefs. Photo by Otherdog's ladyfriend, Zina.

The stories I could tell you. One of the problems is the NFPA, the group that creates the recognized industry standards and codes for firefighting- everything from suggested minimum training requirements to minimum standards for fire extinguishers, helmets, boots, coats, tools, radios, and yes firetrucks. These standards are constantly changing and evolving. Many Federal, State and Local Governments have adopted NFPA standards to guide their firefighting agencies. As a result of this, and due to the standards constantly changing, older rigs lose their value by not being compliant. There are so many rigs out there that could be of value to a small town Fire Dept but because they are not NFPA compliant, they are hesitant to purchase them for fear of liability.
