  1. Usually. Not always. And when equipped with dual distributors, they could either both run off the generator/alternator or switch to magneto in the event of electrical system loss. Usually, not always.
  2. Why did you not stop and obtain the builder's information and serial numbers from that firetruck?
  3. 2-3 years ago, we already posted it much to the delight disgust of Otherdog.
  4. It's either that or go to the next interchange which is a few more miles down the road. Standard operating procedure here. I don't have to like it but I do have to follow it. I have voiced my opinion several times and have suggested dispatching mutual aid companies coming from that direction but it is dismissed every time I bring it up.
  5. Note that not one pair of work boots was taken................
  6. Have your Atty send any correspondence to my former employer, the address is 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, Washington DC.
  7. I was on a pump panel one night at a house fire and launched a spanner wrench at a guy's windshield when he busted through a fire line and ran over my supply line. Imagine the look on his face when the cops not only told him they were NOT going to arrest me, but they were giving HIM a $400 ticket. So he says "ok I'll just sue that fire department." Only one problem- the firetruck I was riding on said "US Navy" on the side of it.....The cops said "yeah good luck with that."
  8. We had to respond up onto Interstate 78 E/B at the 64.1 yardstick earlier tonight for a accident. I was driving the rescue truck, and while this is pretty much a multi-time per week thing for us, two things happened on this run that made me appreciate professional operators. We got on W/B at the interchange at 67 and had to go to the crossover at 62 and U Turn back. As we were heading westbound, we hit slowed traffic almost immediately at the top of the hill. I was running the right hand shoulder. I could see some debris in the road up ahead of me- was some crap from a previous fender bender that could have sliced tires. A portable gas station in the slow lane saw the crap in the shoulder and he slowed way down to allow me room to merge left in front of him to get around the crap. Then as I was approaching the center crossover at 62, a skateboard anticipated my move and slowed everyone down and stopped across both lanes of traffic so that I could come across from the right shoulder to the left shoulder/center crossover. I made the U turn and headed E/B and gave him a wave to thank him. So anyways, thank you guys for working with us.
  9. That's what I call them when I can't remember their real names. Or maybe those are the witness protection program names, I can't remember.
  10. He is on Facebook regularly. I will tell him to make an appearance.
  11. Sad news from Burlington County, New Jersey: http://www.nbcphiladelphia.com/news/local/Helicopter-Crashes-in-Burlington-County-New-Jersey-443269833.html?_osource=SocialFlowFB_PHBrand
  12. Yup. If you want chrome, don't be a cheap azz and put out for Alcoas.
  13. I was able to watch that mp4 download.
  14. The "Billy Reuben" lights. No big deal, I think it happened with at least 2 of 4 of the herd. Nothing to sweat about, very typical. SWMBO is a NICU Nurse and she deals with the worst of the worst....I showed her your post and she said you have nothing to worry about Dad.
  15. Congrats, Rowdy!! We didn't find out the sex of all four of ours until they made their appearance. And we wouldn't have done it any other way. The wife's mom (who is a bit high maintenance.......) was FURIOUS we didn't find out the sex. She was so determined to find out that she even told my wife to call the Dr Office and tell them to tell her the sex and she "wouldn't tell." And well done with the names. Ours are named after people too. Cody Richard (after my Grandfather, Richard Yardumian.....Google that name if you are bored sitting in the hospital room....) Shane Julius (Julius after her Grandfather) Casey Joseph (Joseph after a very very close friend of mine who was a retired firefighter in Camden, NJ....he was a mentor and a rock star to me. He died from cancer but lived long enough to not only hold his namesake, but to also see him take his very first steps in his house down in the Outer Banks of NC....) And the Princess......Josephine Ruth (Josephine after the wife's grandmom and Ruth after my Grandmom....) Hope everyone is doing well. What is his name? And 1958F.W.D. is a good name, just saying..........
  16. Incorrect. When it seizes and shits the bed, it sounds 8 cylinders more glorious!!!
  17. From an emergency services standpoint, at least 27 FEMA USAR teams (or portions of them) are either on the ground in Texas/Louisiana or are on the way. I am pretty sure this is the largest response ever since the creation of the FEMA USAR system. I was listening to the Houston Fire Dept dispatch and operations channel earlier today around 10am. An engine company was asked to respond to a report of a people on the roof of a structure. The Company Officer replied "We are low on fuel and have been going since 11pm last night can you send anyone else?" The Dispatcher replied "You are the only company available right now on that side of town." A few minutes later the company called in and advised "We can see a family with at least two small children on the roof of a dwelling, the water is rising but we cannot get to them, you need to get us a boat as fast as possible." You could hear the exhaustion and despair in his voice.
  18. Ken, that MH/Saulsbury Rescue Truck is for sale again in truckpaper. https://www.truckpaper.com/listings/trucks/for-sale/6917197/1987-mack-ch613
  19. I kept getting messages from Bookface that they were doing maintenance. Must have been changing the oil and filters, or greasing the zerks or something.
  20. Fox Morning News here in Philly just said that they will be measuring the rain from Harvey in "FEET." Currently Harvey is a CAT-2 in strength. I'm not too much of a religious man but I offer anyone down there positive thoughts. If and when you lose power, after the storm get on here when you can and give us all a SITREP. Good luck and GOD BLESS.
  21. I was at work but Large and Medium were fighting over my welding helmet. I don't mind, they were outside and didn't have their faces glued to their playstation for an hour.
  22. What did I miss?????????
  23. Is new shop big enough for firetrucks?
