  1. Precisely what happened with us and the 78 Hahn mentioned above, except the guy who bought it from the Dept was so desperate to get rid of it (and wanted it to go to a collector) that we paid practically nothing for it. And that's the ONLY reason we acquired it without indoor storage (at the time.) Plus me and my old man were the ones responsible for maintaining it, so we knew the driveline was in superior condition (even being a 2 cycle mechanical asshole.)
  2. And if I could afford to, that thing would be yanked tomorrow and replaced with a 237 or 300 Maxidyne.
  3. The "Mountainview" Neighborhood in Hellertown, Pa where I live is all Sears & Roebuck houses that were built by Bethlehem Steel for their workers. I believe that if you worked for Beth Steel, you could sign on for a low-interest loan and purchase a lot and the house kit which would be delivered by rail at the local siding. You would work your normal week and then one or two days (depending on your schedule) in a manpower pool helping everyone to build the houses. I think there are 300 +/- homes total.
  4. Detroit in a Mack is a shame. Detroit in a B Model is a tragedy.
  5. Bah. Craftsman has gone down the shitter the last 5 years. When is the last time you found a Craftsman tool made in the USA? I think I may have even started a thread in here to bitch about it when I was shopping for tools for Large for his Birthday or Christmas a few years ago???
  6. Open for tours or self-paced walk through on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays 10am to 4pm. You might be able to negotiate another time if you call Doug Maney at 610-351-8999. Tell him you are a BMT Member. *MOST* second saturdays of each month is a volunteer work day at the museum, you may be able to stop in then, but you should check with Doug first. The Lehigh Valley Chapter of the ATCA may also hold a brief chapter meeting at these second saturday work days. Visitors are welcome to be at meetings. EDIT: They are undergoing some renovations and changes to exhibits right now, and I see that is mentioned on the website and you are asked to call ahead if you plan on visiting before February 1, 2017. http://www.macktruckshistoricalmuseum.org/
  7. Swishy I don't see the new Hyster....?
  8. No, but your political party does.......
  9. Submarine Base New London where there are multiple Attack Subs (SSN's) based out of http://www.cnic.navy.mil/regions/cnrma/installations/navsubbase_new_london.html Then there is Electric Boat's facility- the shipyard where they build them. http://www.gdeb.com/
  10. The US Navy Submarine Force Museum and Library, at Submarine Base, Groton Connecticut. That portion of the base is open to the public. Other portions of the base are not, especially to you. No offense.
  11. We saw Santa Clause. Extra Small was highly unimpressed. We saw the actual chart track of the USS Nautilus SSN 571 first voyage under the Arctic Ice Cap. I saw a super rare picture of a Jevic Cabover Freighliner Condominium. These had the second-generation 3406B ATAAC's and 13 speeds. We saw (Hell- we went on board the USS Nautilus SSN 571- the first nuclear powered submarine and the first sub to ever transit under the Arctic Ice Cap from the Pacific to the Atlantic Ocean. I don't know how the order of the pictures got screwed up, I think it's Otherdog's fault. Here is a close-up of the track chart. I saw my father get a little emotional while telling Large a story- My father was an IC Electrician 3rd USN (USS Seneca ATF 91) and part of his job as an IC Electrician was to run the movie projector and to obtain new movies. Here, he is telling Large the story about how he went aboard the USS Thresher SSN 593 and swapped movies with their IC. About 2 weeks later on 10 April 1963, the Thresher and all hands were lost at sea with all hands. We are all standing in the Crew's Mess aboard the Nautilus and Dad saw the movie projector and it brought back the memory. As he told the story to Large, I could hear him getting upset. Here is the prime rib which I prepared New Year's eve. Normally we have it New Year's Day but SWMBO had to work.
  12. Just crossed that yesterday and there was more brine laid out than at thanksgiving for the turkeys
  13. Something gonna happen tonight or tomorrow- drove from Allentown Pa to New London, Ct and the brine was being applied on 95...............

  15. Back in the day before we had kids the huge rack on the left used to give me sprained wrists.
  16. Of the Polish trucker who was murdered inside his tractor by a radical muslim shitstain who took his truck and committed a horrible act of terrorism in Berlin. A news story I was listening to quoted the trucker's boss as saying "He was a long time employee who was dedicated to his work, was good at what he did and enjoyed his work. He was also a family man and he will be dearly missed."
  17. Once again....This is what makes this forum and all the lads (and a few ladies) worth the price of admission. Strong work!
  18. ok I'm sold. OD you can buy me that shirt, I need something to soak up oil under the Hahn.
