If you cannot see that what you said in that "Letter to the Editor" was wrong; let alone why it was wrong.....well sir.......You have greater problems than me, I won't hold my breath for that apology. As for who I am? I don't know how much more you need- you have my given name. My interest? I am upset that a fine organization had some mud tossed upon it's good name. Like you are passionate about that truck, I am passionate about the organization that you spoke ill of. Many of the folks on here know me personally and know of my passion for the History and Heritage of Mack Trucks. I shall speak no more of this topic. I can only hope that you come to realize the error of your ways. Have a pleasant day!

Well....Seems some people get a bit testy when you call them out onto the carpet for being a douchebag. I tracked down Mr Waldron on Facebook, and private messaged him the same message as posted above. You can block me on facebook Mr Waldron but I'm like a bad case of the clap- I just don't go away......I'm gonna leave these screen shots right here......

Hey Dan Waldron.... I just saw your letter to the editor in the Sept/Oct issue of Vintage Firetruck. And I quote: "Since we have no serial number, the Mack Trucks Historical Museum hasnt been able to help us and stronly hinted they wanted money to even talk to us." The Mack Trucks Museum advertises (clearly stated on their website) that they will attempt to fulfill archival requests with copies of any documents at no cost....due to the number of requests and limited staff, requests are usually fulfilled in 6-8 weeks. An appropriate donation is appreciated. Do you know a thing about the Mack Museum operation? Are you aware that the staff is mostly volunteer? Do you know that many files are microfiche and need to be manually pulled and viewed for content? Do you know that not only will you get copies of your file, but many times you will get an engine and chassis manual as well? Do you know that the cost to ship these materials to you via UPS is about $20.00?? That being said, given that you had no serial number......what did you expect the VOLUNTEER staff there to do....Look through EVERY file for 1955 and 56 B models? That was a pretty cheap shot and I think you owe the Museum staff an apology, And a check.

"How can you regulate people helping people?"
1958 F.W.D. replied to 41chevy's topic in Odds and Ends
As an emergency responder, I say this........ I have 25+ years of experience both as a Career and Volunteer Firefighter/EMT. I have seen all kinds of crazy shit in that time. I also have all kinds of training- hundreds, possibly even thousands of hours of training, in everything from basic first aid to operating a three million dollar airport crash rescue firefighting rig and everything in between including swift water rescue and small and medium marine vessel operation. That being said, with all of my training and experience, I still see shit doing this job where I say "yeah didn't see that coming" or "nope never saw that happen before." But my training, experience and instinct prepares me to improvise, adapt and overcome. What I hate to see as an emergency responder is a group of individuals with no training or experience in emergency rescue procedures come in and start to go to work in an unorganized and chaotic method. Its counter productive for everyone- us, them and especially the victims. THAT having been said.....The floods in La were/are of huge proportion, and there were people waiting for days on the roofs of their homes without food, fresh water or shelter. The emergency responders were overwhelmed and help was desperately needed. The Cajun boys did what needed to be done. The Senator's intentions may be good but he really should have waited a while to announce his intentions and then maybe check with us professionals for some guidance before he shot his mouth off. -
Oh you have balls..........

Any photos I post on here, 99% of the time I have already posted them on facebook. I load pics into FB right from the phone using the mobile app. So when I post them on here I just do cut and paste from FB.

"I don't have a lot of pictures this week, except for some girls in some cars, and everybody's probably tired of seeing them." Now that there is just stoopid talk.

Scary near-miss this past Sunday with the Hahn
1958 F.W.D. replied to 1958 F.W.D.'s topic in Odds and Ends
Belts were factory original. Yup, never stalled a big automatic like that before. Drives are brand new re-caps and had less than 200 miles on them. Was joking about the one inch thing....But when we went home I made it a point to look for the skid marks and I would not be surprised if there WAS an inch missing. And I have to wonder- if I hadn't steered into the fishtail, would I have rolled that truck? -
(I posted this on my fazebook and figured I'd re-post here as well.....) Wanted to relay something that happened this past Sunday to all my truck and firetruck buddies. I was driving the 1978 Hahn (privately owned by my father and our family) truck has a 671T Detroit and an Allison HT740D automatic transmission. We were headed south on Route 130 in Pennsauken and going to the CLAFAA muster at Cooper River Park. JoJo was in her car seat, belted in and Cody and Casey were belted in (all in the cab.) Weather was clear, sunny and hot. Time was about 9:45am and traffic was moderate for a Sunday morning on Route 130. It should be noted that the water tank was empty and aside from 1200' of LDH, there was minimal amounts of misc equipment and tools on board. I was in the right-hand lane. We had just accelerated from a full stop at a traffic light, and had gone maybe 1/4 of a mile. I estimate my road speed to have been 40-45mph. A work-type van came up on my left side (middle lane) which I did see in the mirror. I noted it as he was trucking along at a pretty good clip. He gets in front of me, and swerves right into my lane and applies his brakes to make a right-hand turn. I immediately stomped on the brake and did so, so hard that the engine stalled. Yes, the engine stalled. Never had that happen before. As this happens, the ass end of the truck fishtails into the center lane. So I am steering left into the fishtail (as we all do when we fishtail in the snow) when I figure out "oh darn, I lost the power steering, why?.....(except I didn't say "darn...") thats when I figured out the engine had stalled. So with one hand on the wheel holding it into a left steer, I used my right hand to drop the transmission into neutral, then back onto the wheel and left hand onto the starter button. Once the engine had lit back off, I of course had steering control and gently accellerated was able to recover quickly. I got the truck back into the right hand lane and recovered my self. My blood pressure lowered back down 3 hours later and I think my bunghole pucker opened up later that night. The brand new steer tires now have an inch of tread missing in one spot. I was just out on a Sunday drive in a privately owned antique rig with no water or equipment. What would the outcome have been if I had a full load of water and hose? Would the truck have rolled? Should it have rolled being as light as it was? What if I didnt think to steer into the fishtail? What would have happened if it were an in-service piece of apparatus and I was driving to a run? Moral of the story: I credit a few years of driving rigs, coupled with knowing my equipment (I was able to use the "detent gates" on the transmission shift to drop it into neutral without looking and also knew where to look for the starter button on the dash.....all while working to recover the rig in a rapid deceleration situation on a major highway. Instinct kicked in and I knew to steer into the fishtail and also to gently accelerate once I had the engine back up. Know your shit people. Know your dash boards, control panels and buttons and try to be able to manipulate them blindfolded. Be cognizant of your surroundings at all times. I kick myself in the ass for not paying more close attention to the asshole- I did see him in the mirror coming up along side of me at a good clip but I figured he was just in a hurry to get down the road.

Don't forget the FDNY Superpumper will be there as well. I had planned on going, however I will have a close friend from Australia in town, and its the only chance I will get to see him and his family.

Thanks Lads, I thought that I had heard somewhere that they did. I know for a fact that F and CF are interchangeable.

Yes, an F Model windshield as well as an R Model windshield will work. Contact Watts Mack, they should be able to help or at least point you in the right direction.

Back when Cruz said he'd support "the nominee" there was not one single solitary member of the GOP who thought that Trump had a chance in hell, let alone WIN the nomination. Now that he got the nod, Cruz and the GOP refuse to kiss the ring. I did not vote for Trump in the primary, and I still remain skeptical about him as a POTUS but I have to vote for him as I believe him to be the lesser of two evils. Who knows, maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised. I am so disgusted with the GOP the last 5 years it makes me sick. They are no longer my party, I am a free-agent conservative. As for same sex marriages....I was once a homophobe. But then people made me realize that people living alternative lifestyles are not out to get me, rape me and force me into their cult. They just want to live their own lives they way they want to live them, without bothering anyone else or to be bothered. Who am I to tell someone that they cannot love someone else as much as I love my own wife? And we know both a male and female couple who have children and they are probably better parents than 75% of the other male/female couples that I know.
