Since the Hahn's double-secret location is an hour away, I brought it home for the long holiday weekend to hopefully get some more paint restoration done. It's a very long, labor-intense four-step process. The truck desperately needed a good thorough washing with soap and water, so what better to do on a swamp-ass hot day than to have a Hahn Washing-Water Fight??? Even EXTRA SMALL got in on the action.

EDIT: I had just asked if it was the ceramic packing or the rope packing....1987 makes it too old for the ceramic packing and you wouldn't be asking about screwing the tool into ceramic packing...LOL......not enough coffee yet this morning. How badly is it leaking? One thing many folks don't know or understand is that they are **supposed** to leak...helps with cooling the packing and maintains a seal throughout the entire packing assembly. People see a few drops of water and they lose their minds thinking their packing is pooping the bed. I have never done one, but I have heard some stories about guys having issues getting the screw tool to "take a bite and were told by a Hale guy to shove a golf tee or some wood splinters or something like that up in the hole and then stick the screw tool up there, and should get it to bite. Then if it doesn't bite youll have to start yanking apart. Also, if you call Waterous with your pump S/N from the panel plate, ask them for a full set of build sheets, parts breakdowns and manuals....Just like the Mack museum, except no donation required.

Oh my god I would be going batshit crazy with my elected officials over this to create some kind of loophole for unrestored or original condition antique/classic vehicles. Thank God Pa doesn't do that shit. You pay taxes on the sale price.

Check with Mack mhe9 .....He has moved several firetrucks for multiple friends of mine and all have been very happy with the service and the price.

Almost looks like a retaining ring or a snap ring of some kind. I don't know Mack rears at all but if it were my truck I'd be pulling the plate off and doing an inspection.

My first car was a 68 Polara 2-door. 318/Auto. You didn't park it, you docked it. And the first time I drove it to school all the kids laughed at it. That is until I laid a 20' long patch and it chirped second.

It was a very interesting several weeks since my last posting. I saw "LARGE" at the Mack Trucks Museum mixing up some Army green paint to paint some of the woodwork for the 1945 NM Mack 6-Ton that is being restored. I saw some big Mack trucks in the Mack Trucks Museum. Theres a couple of bastards called "Brockway" in there too. I saw Green Dash's new ride. I saw the inside of the extended cab door on my 2008 Chevy Silverado, whether I wanted to see it or not. At 10:00 at night. Because the f&%king window wouldn't go up and it was supposed to rain that night. Large learned some new words for his Mechanic's Vocabulary. I saw these bubbles coming out of my tire- again on the 2008 Silverado. I saw this "D" Mack at the Mack Trucks Museum. I saw this Ladder Truck and then I climbed the ladder truck, just because it was there. And just for Other Dog, I saw this Pterodactyl on top of some guy's Jeep Wagoneer. The Tree Rat is doing a pretty good imitation of a snack. Or maybe he's really good at playing dead. Or maybe he's just not having a very good day.

Brocky there are several motels right at Interstate 78 and Route 100: Hampton Inn, Hawthorn Suites, Holiday Inn and the Hilton Garden Inn. While they may be slightly over your price range, I would not recommend venturing any more east than this- the further east you go on 22 the closer to Allentown you get and of course the closer to the riff-raff. 100 and 78 is good because you are only about 6 miles from Macungie, theres plenty of parking and there are plenty of eating establishments close by such as Cracker Barrel, The Fogelsville Inn and others. Thursday Night we always do a group meal at The Tilted Kilt in Allentown (Near the Museum.) Doug Maney always puts this together. Friday night is the ATCA Family Picnic dinner- you need to RSVP for this. It's a blast and highly recommended. If you have not RSVP'd I suggest you do so ASAP. Saturday night a few of us Sterling Truck Nuts have dinner together at the Fogelsville Inn. Highly recommended even if you don't go with us.

There's an awful video going around on facebook- it's security cam footage from the inside of someone's home showing the fire encroaching on the exterior of the house and then busting out the windows and finally the smoke is so bad you can't see anything anymore. News commentary accompanying the video states the family was evac'd 2 hours prior and was watching live on the internet. I couldn't even imagine............
