  5. Oh boy...this should be an EPIC meet up.....1958 FWD, OtherDog and 39BabyMack tomorrow morning for breakfast.....Does anyone have bail money?
  6. See your fazebook private messages..
  7. UPDATE: Not much has been done cosmetically. She desperately needs a good, thorough bath with a pressure washer (but not too hard) and a brush and soap....But since it done went and turned all winter on us we haven't had a chance to play with any water- as previously mentioned the water at the place we have her stored in has been turned off. No heat, either. So what we need to do is run her down to the (still open!) firehouse one day and back her in and go over her. We have been looking at some of the rot. First thing I think I will take a whack at will be to fabricate a new battery box. Depending on how badly I screw that up do with that then maybe I will give the cab floor under the driver a whack. The body is going to have to wait. Mechanically everything is fine with some minor crap here and there- she does lose prime in the fuel system after sitting for a week or two- bad check valve? But she does have an electric primer, so all we do is lean on that for 30 seconds and she lights right off. Also there's an air valve bad somewhere that I think Dad may have fixed already.
  8. Not enough time to call Randy Y either when he went to Philadelphia............Could have gotten him some scrapple!
  9. Here is a 1943 that was originally purchased new by the Keystone H & L Company in Reading Pa. At the time these pics were taken, it was owned by the German-American Firefighters's Association and stored behind a members commercial property in Bensalem Pa. After several years of outdoor storage/weather taking a toll as well as several incidents of vandalism, a club member graciously donated indoor storage space in his garage. These pics were the (rainy) day that Dad and I supervised the move with the help of one buddy and his wrecker, and another buddy and his Vision and drop deck. Truck recently sold to a group of Reading Firefighters who are restoring it to original Reading appearance. Has a seperate pump engine- a Chrysler if I remember right.
  10. I have heard that Perkins uses a similar design.........don't know how true??
  11. My 140GZ Waukesha (inline 6, 554 CID) gets about 3mpg on a good day.
  12. There's a goodyear place in Bristol that broke down a rim for me and re-assembled/inflated when the LRI on the FWD sucked the valve stem last summer.
  13. The Mercier Garage in South Easton, Ma (thats the name) but I don't know that they are in any kind of business anymore. They do have a large quantity of NOS Waukesha parts, I know that much. (short a few complete overhaul gasket sets, a cam shaft, a main bearing set, a full set of connecting rod bearings, a full set of rings and a complete cylinder set....LOL)
  14. You can try him, but he usually doesn't touch anything that isn't older than WWII. And when he does, be prepared to take out a second mortgage. It will be done right the first time, but you will pay.
  15. This is correct. My 6 cylinder Waukesha has the same thing. Most later gasoline engine firetrucks had dual distributors- and usually had a magneto as well (although mine does not.) And yes, timing an ALF requires a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Nuclear Physics and Astrophysics all at the same time.
  16. White Line Fever- Merle The Legend- (title song for "Smokey and the Bandit") Old Home Filler-Up an' Keep on a-Truckin' Cafe- CW McCall Long Lonesome Road- CW McCall
  17. Sir, if you private message me your name and number I will forward them to Katrina and have her give you a call. She may be able to recommend a reliable source of parts/service in your area.
  18. I can honestly say that I have never liked that a friend has wasted his time before.......
  19. I'm pretty sure I heard it was originally an aircraft engine that was modified for vehicles.
  20. It's a Lycoming.
  21. Katrina Falk in Morristown, Indiana used to have a piece of "The V-12 Shop" down in Texas. Don't know what the current status of her involvement in that is, other than she moved to Indiana about a year or year and a half ago. She probably knows more about those V12 (lycoming) engines than all of us guys combined. If you are on Facebook, look her up, might be worth your time to do so.
  22. I'm not a very religious man Rowdy but you and your family are in my thoughts..........
  23. I was a paid staffer with the American Red Cross Disaster Services back in 1993 and spent pretty much the entire summer out there, all points between Kansas City, St Louis and Sioux City, Iowa......Saw some bad shit. And you say this flooding may exceed that? Damn.
  24. Hey even Wookies need love.......
