Here's an F-Model Rescue. Body built by the former Saulsbury Inc. They were (past tense) the best stainless steel rescue truck body builder in the USA until they were bought out by Emergency One (an aluminum builder) in Ocala, Florida. -
Even treated gasoline (containing ethanol) should not be stored for more than a month or two. I keep track of all my mower gas- and if it is in the can for a month, I dump it into the FWD or the pickup truck. My gen set- that I light off and run for an hour every 2-3 weeks only gets "Tool Fuel" in the tank....... which has an indefinite shelf life. If I have to use the gen set for an extended period of time I'll put regular (treated) gasoline in it but you can bet when I am done I empty it, run it dry and then flush it out by running for an hour with tool fuel.

www.pure-gas.com Ethanol-formulated gasolines are murderously corrosive to plastic and neoprene parts in modern fuel systems. I run the Ethanol-formulated Sta-Bil (the orange shit) in all of my small engines no matter what time of year it is. At the end of the summer, the lawn mower gets an extra capful of Sta Bil in the tank, and then it gets run dry as a bone. Same with the snow blower at the end of the winter. The neoprene diaphragm on the FWD's mechanical fuel pump fell victim to ethanol-formulated gasoline a while back. It is a rare delco-remy pump, and I could not find a replacement diaphragm or pump, and was forced to install an electric pump as a result. The gas in the FWD gets treated as well, again no matter the time of year.

Most likely also has a PTO-driven or separate diesel-engine driven gen set large enough to run the entire house if the power drops for an extended period of time............ -

When should white people start looting? -I dunno about you but I kinda frown on burning out my own neighborhood, grocery stores, etc that are all owned and operated by my friends and neighbors, let alone the fact that they all benefit me in my daily life. -
Yeah.....Lotta oil in there. Keep the thought of a blown rear main seal in the back of your mind. Check the pad thickness- if it's pretty worn, between that and the oil, you can adjust that thing all you want but it'll keep slipping, You may have to drop the clutch and send it out for a rebuild. Aaaaaand since you have the tranny and clutch down, you may as well drop the pan and roll a new rear main seal in there. If you do wind up dropping the clutch and tranny, don't forget to check the flywheel surface and get that machined if necessary.

All of the graphics and gold leaf have been applied. Yes, it is real gold leaf, however not hand-applied in the traditional manner. This gold lead is laid out in a special cutting printer, which puts the fine-print detail onto the gold leaf, then cuts it out, and a roller applies a vinyl overlay onto it as it spits out of the printer. It is then applied to the truck. Members are currently receiving their in-service training and the tools are being mounted. We are also taking this opportunity to re-do all of the compartments on the other rig in an attempt to standardize both rigs as similarly as possible. The new Squad 11 should be officially entering service on Sept 1, 2015. Here is a photo taken on the back side of the Bryn Athyn Cathedral, in Bryn Athyn, Pennsylvania- our community just outside of Philadelphia in Montgomery County. By the way- the Line-X is on the bumper and it LOOKS AWESOME, it really grows on you. It is also on the back of the cab as well as the pump panel. -
Talked to Mike about an hour ago. Told him everyone was asking for him and pulling for him. He said to thank everyone for their kind words and prayers. He gave me an update, in short: 1. There is a discrepancy between his white and red blood cell count. It is suspected that one of his medications is the most likely culprit. Blood will be taken tomorrow to analyze for this specific purpose. 2. He still feels very groggy, tired and run down. 3. He asked "The" question we all have been wondering. The answer was an immediate and positive-sounding "NO. We do not think it is back." He's going to call me with a further update tomorrow or Saturday.

For those of you who are on FB and saw Mike's post earlier today about needing prayers........(and of course for those of you who are not on FB....) I texted him this AM and told him to give me a yell when he was feeling up to it. He called me this afternoon, and reported that he was on his route, and rapidly started feeling like crap. So much so that when he got to a customer he called his boss and told him he could not go on. Boss came and got him and brought another guy to finish the route. Took Mike home and his wife took him to the hospital. They did some tests and results are pending. Mike is at home. He sounded very tired and whooped. He asked me to post and let everyone know he is doing OK and is obviously not going to drive until further notice.

I apologize if this has come up before... An acquaintance is in need of rotors and possibly pads for the disc brakes on his CF. He has been told by a Mack source that they are not supported by Mack anymore and basically "good luck." Barry or anyone else, can you lend some insight? Anyone have anything laying around?

For anyone who may be planning on attending the annual Friends of Autocar annual gathering/lunch, which is tentatively scheduled for Sat 9/27- The invites just went out (got mine yesterday.....) I don't know who had a brain fart but they scheduled it the same weekend as PopeFest in Philly- where if you have seen my thread regarding THAT clusterf*ck.....over 1.5 million people are expected to be in or attempting to travel to Philadelphia- and the roads in and around Philly and Southeaster Pa, South Jersey, and northern Delaware and Maryland are expected to be a colossal nightmare. I have emailed the powers in charge at FOA and have urged them to consider re-scheduling for the previous or the following weekend. Stay tuned and if you have not sent in your RSVP and money yet, you may want to hold off.

When I first got the FWD I called Waukesha to see if I should be putting lead additive in. Talked to a very knowledgeable engineer for quite a while. Told me I didn't need lead additive, the valve seats were hardened. His exact words were "dump the cheapest shit 87 octane in there that you can find." But that's the Wauky. You should do some research about your Mack. Maybe Yarnell knows??? And to echo everyone else's statements- Gasoline with ethanol is fucking evil if you allow it to sit around. The ethanol ate the diaphragm in my mechanical fuel pump- a pretty rare Delco-Remy, and I couldn't find a replacement- so we had no choice and installed an electric pump. Anytime I put ethanol fuel in, I ALWAYS add Ethanol-Formulated STA-BIL (the orange shit, not the red shit....) and I never ever allow it to sit around more than a month or more. I always plan accordingly and don't add more than I think I will burn. Also, check around your area for ethanol-free gas. Look on www.pure-gas.com It's more expensive of course but worth it if they are located close by. I do have one place about 15 miles from here, I usually will get about 10 gallons at the end of the summer for the winter storage season- I light her off and run it for 45 minutes every 2-3 weeks. And never use AvGas like some morons do- the high octane will burn hotter and damage antique engines.
