  1. If you just sit the same belt in each groove and check how much it protrudes from the groove I think would give a good indication if the pulley is badly worn I would of thought, totall open to correction Paul
  2. I typed out a reply must of not pushed submit Anyway I'll have another go Fantastic effort so far Your vee belts need to be a matched pair, lots of manufacturers say they are matched belts but this isnt exactly true Say for example yiu have B 85 belts and buy three belts that are meant to be matched, if you look closely at the belts there is another number made up of may 5 or 6 numbers in smaller writing, this number is the matched number and the closer these numbers are to matching the closer the belts are to be matched This isnt some made up B.S. this is fair dinkum and when they numbers are really close the belts (providing the pulleys are in good nick) will run smooth as silk So check the belts out, most spare parts people dont know this, a older spare parts gentlemen showed me this many years ago and it still proves correct today Paul
  3. Maybe it never had a air dryer, I have never seen a air dryer in my life so although they are common in the US Im guessing that they arent fitted to every truck Or theres also most likely is, I just dont know my ass from elbow Paul
  4. Check them if your concerned, make up pressure guage with a a tap etc and make sure the air pressure is at 60 - 70 psi Paul
  5. Well you will never know if you dont ask, dont worry Ngrace24, there is never any harm in asking a question Paul
  6. Thats a great idea, have never thought about using that A fella I know would have at a guess at least 20 years old KW C 60? Brute with a Cat C16 pulling tripple road trains off road a lot of the time and thru all the connections it will hold air for 8 hours As he says, you really need to keep on top of it I think thats a fair effort and he also runs at a minimum 130 psi Way off the subbject but this video cropped up of Goldies KW brute a bit stuck in Western QLD a couple of years ago Truck had Gold Finger painted on the bonnet (hood for you Yankies) and his truck has Hatch Transport painted on the crates https://www.facebook.com/639446023186634/posts/838523726612195/?d=null&vh=e Paul
  7. O ring kit on the air rams Input shaft seal Output shaft seal, the bolt on the yoke needs to be done up to 3 gazillion foot pounds and use the proper loctite, don't ask how I know this but it is a heck of job on the side of the road If it's wet at all, even mild damps around the counter shaft caps re seal them And dont use silicone, silastic, form a gasket or any crap like that as when the inside bits ooze inside and drop off the eventually get pumped into the high low sliding dogs and the whole shooting match has to come apart Apart from that, good luck Paul
  8. So I must be blind, what answer did you come up with ? I'm struggling to read the injector pump tag Paul
  9. Are these a disc or drum brake ?? I have no idea disc brakes on trucks On cars if the shims and spacers aren't installed in the correct sequence they will squeal and sound like steel on steel Thinking that big trucks maybe the same Even if it's drums the outside edge of the shoe can drag on the drum if they arent spaced or installed correctly Paul
  10. Only the later series cooled coolpowers had the water lines to the intercooler I think these were then 350 hp There must be different casting numbers on the block as I'm pretty sure the Maxidyne has more webbing around the bottom end The first Maxidynes sold in Australia were prone to cracking the block around the lower end So to answer your questions, I dunno lol Paul
  11. As I always say, these pooches give us more than we ever give them No good at all Paul
  12. At a uneducated guess, Mack MR were possibly the most popular Macks for rubbish trucks in Australia I have seen what I believe are called MB Macks that would of been rubbish trucks The most popular rubbish trucks in Australia with out a doubt would of been the IH ACCO for well over 30 and possibly even 40 years and we still lots of ACCOs working today Paul
  13. Well I dont know of anyone who has had Covid 19 or even know of anyone who knows of anyone Just glad I live in Australia Take care Joe Paul
  14. Apparently Volvo trucks are good for something, I'll let Swishman work this out Paul
  15. Jave just finished reading book Me, My Mack, Tehran and Back ! By AndybMacLean A good read, if this type of thing intresets you then well worth a read I'm fascinated by this era in Europe and the middle east, a era in transportation I will never understand as we never have any of the issues in Australia that these truck drivers had So as Molly Meldrum would say "do your self a favor and go out and buy a copy" He would say this about vinyl records back in the day not books lol Paul
  16. Keep on chipping away at it, you'll be surprised at the progress you will make Paul
  17. As most of you will know I recently fitted new bearings to the tip turbine on 320 or 300 + as you blokes call them I can definitely tell you the the intercooler makes a difference, I can more than just see the difference on the boost guage, Im dropping at least one less gear on climbs and the pickup feels so much quicker when cresting a hill Paul
  18. Any pictures of this eye candy ? Paul
  19. I was reading this last night Makes for a good story, and I wonder if we will ever get to see it out and about at shows in the future Paul
  20. Can you use two splitting wedges on top of each other to drive them out What I call a splitting wedge is made of steel and used with a sledge hammer to split wood apart Paul
  21. Do you know what the transfer case is, as in brand or model number ? If its the same as the ones used in Australia I might be able to track down some info I dont believe they were all full time 6x6 Paul
  22. Alpine green is what I believe they called the 2 stroke GM colour, or something alongs those lines Revisit this thread bellow for a clue to what Im talking about Paul
  23. Scania Australia have had a program of teaching drivers to drive for the best fuel economy at least back into the 70's in Australia I don't know if it was here that entire time but I recall reading about it back then Paul
  24. Alpine Green with black rocker covers Polish up the alloy bits and, turbing housing and intercooler Should look pretty sexy I would of thought The red Mack used is pretty um bland, Golds ok but everyone has gold Paul
