  1. Yes The last bit of the air system to be charged should be the air start tank This is my understanding and every Mack I have had anything to do with is the same Paul
  2. Can you pull the air line off that supplies the air to the tank before it reaches the non return valve and put it in a bucket of water and and look for leaks I also pour water into the air line fitting that you connect a air line to refill the tank as most times it points upwards Check the O rings on the main big air solenoid (you can unscrew the cap on the bottom) I lube it up with vasoline as I dont think it perishes the rubber Apart from that unbolt things and put the whole tank and fittings in a stock trough or borrow someones swimming pool and you can check the whole system I guess Paul
  3. Not sure how the US Macks are plumbed In Australia the most common cause of what describe is two non return valves on the T on the air tank Or the solenoid valve Or a rubbed thru air line in the start system Gotta remember there is only 4 valves a tank and two air lines on the setups that I have had anything to do with Paul
  4. Sorry mate, bad Australian slang Having a crack means to really have a good go at trying something, nothing at all to do with cracked cab parts Paul
  5. I was helping a mate pull one of these motors out of his Toyota Landcruiser yesterday Anyway we pulled the motor right apart and his son who is engine machinist is going rebuild it After we had it all apart I was watching a YouTube video on these motors and it says that the push rods are harder one end than the other and to mark the push rods as they come out Well we never did oop's Does anyone on here know of a way pf checking push rods to find which end is the hard end ?? And if not , how critical is it with push rods ???? The You tube video that mentions about the push rods Any advise or help appricated Paul

  7. Great stuff and all part of the fun of drag racing Have never seen or heard of a 500 Caddie motor as they would be all most impossible for parts in Australia Having plans of building my own Australian style gasser in the not to distant future Been Australian style it will be 6 cylinder in a Aussie car, just finding half decent cars now days is getting really costly or Im way out of date lol Paul

  11. Even on this side of the world those poxy blue and LED head lights make it hard Thankfully I dont live were areas are heavily populated so it isnt as big a drama I havent been able ro buy Cibie super oscars for some years and even the bull lights are getting pretty thin on the ground I put a set of Narva driving lights on Mrs Mack last year and they have some type of white lamp and I find them better than all the older brands Narva Ultima's 225 I think thry were Paul
  12. Thanks Vlad, glad you found some diff centers No white flys here, just them anyoing little black buggers also known as "dunny buggies" (dunny is slang for toilet and buddgie is a small Australian bird, hence small fly that hangs around a toilet) My grandfather drove NR Macks after WW2 as log trucks and always told me they had a top speed of 36 mph Paul

  16. That's great news that it is fixed by the sounds of it Its a shame it has taken so long and so much money was thrown at it before it was sorted, but none of this matters now as the truck is going again Paul
